Kimpton Hotel Vintage Seattle

Seattle, USA

Virgin rating

The hotel

It’s not called ‘Vintage’ for nothing — this is the Grand Cru of Seattle hotels, with interiors, wine lists, and social get togethers, all under the influence of Washington State’s wine country. It may be in downtown Seattle, but step into this boutique retreat and you may feel like you’re in a tasting room, surrounded by earthy shades blended with grape greens and burgundy. It’s the perfect place to sample the region’s fine tipples, with a complimentary wine hour every evening. Why not move on to the award-winning Tulio Ristorante, where you can tuck into Italian classics that come with a fresh Northwest twist — and a wine cellar of course.

The room was not clean. We were told that there would be no housekeeping for our three night stay. In the bathroom there were only three bath towels, no hand towels or washcloths. We had to request these items several times. The carpet was filthy. If they vacuumed, they didn't do a very good job. I found dog food on the floor and a pile of dog food pushed into a corner. Also, there was a dirty washcloth under the dresser. I dared not look under the bed. The light in the makeup mirror was burned out. The window are so dirty, it's hard to see out of them. I have stayed at the Kimpton Monaco in PDX several times and the one in Sacramento. I thought that I would switch it up for a Seattle trip. I'm sorry that I did. Read less

Small reception area where one can buy snacks, cans of pop, beer & wine. Complimentary wine tasting every evening between 5 & 6pm. Valet parking. A couple of surprising issues. Firstly, no tea/coffee-making facilities available in the rooms. However, these are available free-of-charge in reception every morning. No bar on site. There is a restaurant next door - Tulio. No housekeeping during our 3 night stay. Not a disaster for us. When I enquired about this at checkout, I was told this is available on request. Finally, I did find the $300 per room credit card hold a bit excessive ($600 for our 2 rooms). Other places on our trip have charged just $75-100. Read less

In general, our view at the time was that it was OK but not great. The room was comfortable and not too noisy given it was close to an elevator. No housekeeping during our stay which didn't particularly bother me but was unexpected (I did overhear someone complaining at reception so wasn't too surprised). Whilst there's an adjoining restaurant,… Read more

No housekeeping during our stay which didn't particularly bother me but was unexpected (I did overhear someone complaining at reception so wasn't too surprised). Whilst there's an adjoining restaurant, there aren't any other facilities beyond a small reception area. The valet was very helpful and delivered great service. However, the hotel took at $300 deposit which wasn't a hold on a card but full payment taken from the account. And it took weeks to get this returned, with a general lack of any interest or effort from staff to get a resolution. Read less

Location was a bit out of the way but had a couple of good places to eat. The room was comfortable. Our window was level with the sidewalk and road but surprisingly not as noisy as I thought it would be. No housekeeping so had to make our own bed for the three nights we were there. A tea/coffee machine in room would have been nice. Liked the free… Read more

Hotel room was small, bathroom small. No cleaning services during our two night stay.
