It started the moment we arrived Male Airport, when new were greeted by a member of the Adaaran staff who took us to his colleague from Meedhupparu. A lovely welcome and efficient transfer process through TMA seaplanes staff, found us whisked by bus to the new TMA building adjacent to Male Airport. A quick 45 minute flight found us in paradise. We stepped off the seaplane to a lovely welcome by the resort staff and our first views of the beauty of the ocean and the idyllic spot that is Meedhupparu. We were lucky to be staying in an overwater villa, so were driven to their reception area and greeted with a lovely welcome drink and refreshing cold towels. We were introduced to Niyaz who was our personal contact for our stay. He then escorted us to our villa and showed us around the water villa area. The villa was very comfortable, with a large bathroom, sundeck, Jacuzzi and glass viewing section of below the decking. Bed was very comfortable. Room was serviced 3 times a day to a good standard. Special thanks to Niyaz for all your help, support and assistance during our stay. Your acknowledgment of our birthday celebrations were lovely. The house reef is very close to the shoreline and villas. We can only describe it as stunning. A very large quantity of fish, of many varieties, gave us hours of viewing entertainment along with turtles, eagle rays, moray eels and the reef sharks. We ate mostly in the water villa restaurant which can only be described as fantastic. Chef Thilanka, and his team, served up stunning dishes every day which were fine dining standard. Thank you to you all, we will not forget your work and efforts, so tasty. They were brilliantly supported by the front of house staff. Special thanks to Aish for looking after us so well during our restaurant visits, good luck with your studies!!!! Also thanks to Nuaim & Nihaad. A company is nothing without excellent staff, and they are to be found aplenty at Meedhupparu, in all restaurants, bars and reception areas. Please treat them well because they deserve recognition and reward for what they do on a daily basis. We tried Reflexology and Spa treatments during our stay. Both were lovely and carried out by great staff. The island is fairly small & lovely. A very chilled 30 minute walk, or longer if you stop off for a cocktail or two at either of the bars!! It is kept clean and tidy by a hardworking team, who tidy, sweep and clear throughout the day. We would visit again in a heartbeat. Thank you all for a truly memorable holiday. Read less

A rare repeat visit to this lovely island - I read a pretty negative review from March and really wondered if we had been to the same island. - then I saw the contributor had only adverse reviews in their profile !! Meedhupparu may not the largest island nor have the widest range of facilities, but it does provide a very welcoming environment , a wonderfully relaxing stay, and excellent value for money. And of course, you do need good weather, which we were blessed with, apart from 2/3 hours one morning . We had a sunset villa , which was sufficiently spacious - maybe a few more hangers in the wardrobe would have been welcome- comfortable king bed, well air conditioned, TV which we never used, indoor & outdoor showers , safe, mini bar, terrace & sunbeds House keeping was excellent, towels both bathroom & sunbed, & bed linen changed frequently: toiletries all replenished daily, mini bar well maintained & on the day they didn’t replace the milk, a note for the turn down guy soon corrected this. Good restaurant choice with plenty of food options - theme nights at the main restaurant - we generally used Cafe Mass at lunch time & whilst many dishes have chips you can mix & match without them . We had lunch at the Thavaa on a couple of days for added variety . In the evening you can choose from the main & Indian restaurants along with the Mediterranean where we managed to get a table on the beach although be aware you do need to book for the latter & this can be 4/5 days in advance . All the restaurants have a good choice of wine at meal times . There is a good Western breakfast with plenty of hot & cold options Like most tropical resorts, restaurants are open air & whilst there are plenty of fans, these are not totally effective so they can get somewhat sticky. In the main restaurant we would always sit w.l away from the cooking areas & which were more populated Drinks here are premium branded - my wife likes a good gin & Bombay Sapphire was plentiful with good measures. Wide range of cocktails, all staff very helpful & they would readily mis what you asked for if it was not on the list. Used pool bar & Sunset bars for the majority but not forgetting the Albino bar with its choice of over 100 cocktails. If you don’t want a drink, there is plenty of choice at the complimentary ice cream kiosk. The infinity pool is super as it looks out over the ocean & there never seems to be an issue getting pool sunbeds. There are two complimentary boat trips - dolphins & sunset - which need to be pre-booked - the one downside is they provided warm water on the 2 hour dolphin trip &they do need to have fridge/cool box with cold drinks - we had ice cold cans on a neighbouring island trip! Whilst the island does welcome children and indeed has a kids club, overall given the weather, which can be oppressive, it is much more geared for adults - we would actually sometimes question the wisdom or taking young children as clearly apart from the pool, they can easily become restive. Bringing a baby to this type of Island is a real challenge and cannot be fun for any parent as it must be difficult to relax for much of your stay. The island offers barbecue nights on the beach, breakfast in the swimming pool & a selection of drinks that are not part of the AI package; we did not use any , we are not barbecue fans in any event so the cost to us didn’t seem to have value. We are not divers but there seems to be plenty of choice for those wishing to take part. We have seen comments regarding the cost of extending your room on the last day - we have seen similar prices in such as Greece , Cyprus last year - we agree they appear excessive particularly when the resort does not seem over busy - to us it jas become an industry disease in many parts of the world - the staff here readily provided a changing room at no cost & arranged transport to & from it - our seaplane was 4pm. We met many guests during our stay, from other parts of the UK - particularly Tina & Liam -to Germany (Hans & his wife), Italy, Czech Republic, & a super family from Brisbane. And not forgetting some super staff all of whom are a real credit to the resort. There are too many to mention but we cannot complete this review without thanking supervisor Percy, and our drinks providers Yanish, Keppi, Ramesh & Saranga. So yes if you are looking g for a quality relaxing break in this part of the world at a competitive price, this is one island you should seriously consider . Read less

We have just returned from a 12 night stay and what a fabulous time we had This was our 5th visit to The Maldives and have previously always stayed in Water Villas. We had a deluxe Beach Villa at Meedhupparu and didn't really know if we would like it, it exceeded our expectations. The island is so clean, a nice size to walk around easily, the sand is beautiful and the water is so clear. We snorkelled every day and went on the free Dolphin boat, my husband went on a Turtle spotting/swimming trip which he loved. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary and also my birthday while we were there and the staff made them extra special with their kindness and smiles. The food in all restaurants was excellent and we also had a private dining experience on the beach and took part in the Beach Barbecue, they were very special evenings all organised by the wonderful Kasala and Kamara, thank you. a special mention to Rumesh at the Sunset bar for his great cocktails. Our waiters were always happy and helpful and Murti (i think) deserves a mention. I do think that there could be some improvements which i feel would enhance our stay, we had a couple of days and evenings where it rained and we just went back to our room as sitting under cover in the bar is just unbearably hot,as there are no fans, i really feel they are needed. also, it would be good to have a snack bar near to the North Pier, similar to Caffee Maas as i didnt always want to use the large restaurant at lunchtime, and if it served good Barista style coffee even better. We had a wonderful holiday thank you Read less
