The room was clean and facing the pool....attractive view. The bathroom and room was standard...nothing fancy just a great view. AC was extremely cold and bed was comfortable. As mentioned the grounds were very well kept and attractive. The pool was very pretty and cleaned after each guest moved by staff. Dining was the least favorable event. The wait time at dinner was extremely long. The selection of food very cultural with nothing noncultural choice given. Breakfast was presented well and much improved from dinner. We enjoyed our stay and loved the beauty of the property. Read less

Our family of four stayed at the Holiday Inn resort at the end of July for about 10 days. I would highly recommend this resort and we had a wonderful time. We did spend most of our time in the resort, as most other excursions were not running. The only outside excursions we went on were diving at Dressel Divers down the road (did about 5-6 days of diving, including a night dive) and also a tour with Chakka for the horseback riding (in the ocean). There was plenty to do at the hotel. I especially recommend this hotel for families with young children through teenagers. This would not be a great place to look for nightlife (although there is entertainment and bars open until 1 am). It’s really a family resort or a couples resort looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation. Pros: -Staff- this was our first trip to Jamaica and we were blown away by how lovely and welcoming all the staff was. We especially loved the beach hut staff, the ice cream hut ladies, and the jerk hut gentlemen. Also the lifeguards were hilarious and fun to talk to. Covid protocols- temperature checks at the front entrance, constant cleaning and sanitizing, even the pool chairs are sanitized after each use. We felt very safe. Also face masks were widespread except by the pool All the staff had face masks at all times -Beach and layout of island – just stunning and lovely to walk up and down the property. Water is shallow and safe but gets deep enough so you can swim as well. The grounds are so well-kept that it looks like a botanical garden. Fresh coconuts, palm leaves, giant flowering plants everywhere. -Food- even with the main restaurants closed, they rotate the 3 main menus every day for dinner. If the upstairs restaurant happens to be open definitely jump at the chance to eat there as it’s lovely. They just need enough guests to be able to open it (was open about 3-4 days while we were there). But other than the main restaurant, the beach hut has amazing fresh fish and the jerk hut is not to be missed! The soft serve ice cream hut was also a huge it. Only downside on the dining was the open air restaurant the music was so loud it was hard to have a conversation. -Watersports and snorkeling- there is a lot to do right at the resort. Kayaks and peddle boats are almost always available. When the wind is good, there is a short sailing trip the boat staff will take you out on a small catamaran- great fun! Also, the snorkeling around the island is really quite good and anyone even a weaker swimmer can easily do this. We saw morays, lionfish, parrotfish, crabs, and more right on the hotel island reef. It’s possible to swim out to the larger reef if you are a strong swimmer and only during high tide. -Other activities- gorgeous tennis courts, mini-golf course, nice fitness center, pool table, ping pong, shuffle board, board games. The main stage has activities all day and tries to keep the atmosphere lively but we observed not that many guests were interested. Laundry- free and easy to use laundry room was a pleasant surprise. All we had to do was buy laundry detergent from the gift shop (or bring your own). Cons: Just a bit minor- front desk was probably the least friendly! We didn’t have a great check in experience. We had to wait a long time to register and our room type that we had booked was not ready/available and so we had to move rooms after the first day. Really it was not a big deal but the rest of the staff was SO FRIENDLY and WELCOMING that the front desk staff were a bit lack-luster. Hotel entrance/lobby- just not that impressive and no wow factor compared to other resorts. I don’t really care about that though. Rooms- they were adequate but not super luxurious. They all have a nice balcony or patio. Read less

This is my go-to hotel. But they dropped the ball on this one, very poor communication. This is my go-to hotel. But they dropped the ball on this one, very poor communication. If they told us while making reservations that more than half the facilities are closed, we’d make a better decision. Some changes they do not communicate with you: 1 - there is no such thing as a buffet. You have to get seated and they take your order. There’s not much on the menu to chose from. When asked, they said it’s a cost saving tactic and if they get enough people, they’ll have a buffet. 2 - restaurants are closed. No Italian, Japanese, etc. 3 - spa is closed. 4 - some pools are closed. 5 - no water sports (except canoeing) 6 - clubs/lounges closed. Now I don’t mind that they do these things but by refusing to communicate these things with customers, either through reservations or otherwise, their mode of operations come of as a scam and I will no longer support this hotel. Get a communications manager or change the current one, they’re doing a very poor job. Read less

So glad I decided to take this trip during the world's crisis. I've traveled to Jamaica over 20 times and this by far has been one of my best trips. It's the best because I was able to witness first hand the safe guards put in place for my travel and got some of the best rest being here. This trip showed me how resilient the people of Jamaica are, especially the staff at this beautiful resort. It's not a mistake Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort won TripAdvisor Travelers Choice Award for 2020 during covid-19. It's awesome to see how the staff is ensuring our stay here remains entertaining and safe. If you're looking for a great vacation with a reasonable budget (family, solo or lovers), I highly recommend this resort. I'm leaving feeling refreshed and renewed, just what I needed! 💖💖💖🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 Read less

This hotel was very clean and practicing social distancing and mask-wearing throughout the property the staff and guests were in compliance. Food was just ok very limited menu and the food was bland. Drinks were good but not top shelf which was ok because I brought my own! Entertainment was really good, they worked hard to get the guests involved and participate in the activities. The internet here is awful and I mean complete trash! Called front desk to see if she could help and of course, the answer was no IT left for the day lol! I.T you mean maintenance which I found to be a lie after running into the guy 5 min later as he was coming from another building. Some of us work in hotels and not the procedure, not all tourists are dumb. Just hate being lied to about a router being reset! Front desk staff not friendly or helpful... no type of Intineary about meal activities nothing just here is your key and find your way! you would think that since most things were not as advertised they would be more communicative about the is available instead of you just walking around looking at all the closed places that were included with room!
