Beverly Wilshire a Four Seasons Hotel

Beverly Hills, Los Angeles

The hotel

Full disclosure: Hector Elizondo isn’t actually the soft-hearted manager of the Beverly Wilshire, but the spirit of this iconic upscale hotel on Rodeo Drive is very much as it appeared in Pretty Woman: elegant, immaculately finished, and a true event destination that will enhance the glamour of any LA stay immeasurably. From Cut, Wolfgang Puck’s Michelin-starred take on the steakhouse, to the serene, Mediterranean-style pool, and world-class Spa, the Beverly Wilshire offers an unforgettable flavour of Hollywood highlife that’ll stay with you long after the credits roll on your dream holiday.

The positives: Excellent location. Room was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping friendly and did a good job. That’s it. Far outweighed by negatives: Only 1 of 4 elevators in operation, and it was also being used by room service and bell staff. Unbearably long waits, elderly guests forced to use stairs. Breakfast experience was awful. Slow,… Read more

Far outweighed by negatives: Only 1 of 4 elevators in operation, and it was also being used by room service and bell staff. Unbearably long waits, elderly guests forced to use stairs. Breakfast experience was awful. Slow, arrogant service. 20 minute wait for a fruit plate, no apologies. Better croissants from Sara Lee. Front desk staff was arrogant, rude, and disrespectful. Refused to correct obvious billing errors (forced to contact accounting post-stay, they did correct it immediately). Really a disgrace to the Four Seasons brand. Read less

Even though this property is majestically located at the end of rodeo drive and it’s beautifully decorated for Christmas, the rooms are not up to par and are outdated. The mattress is not as comfortable as most four seasons hotels. The service is OK but not exceptional.

The rooms are spacious and clean, though quite outdated & in need of extensive refurbishment as mentioned by many other reviewers, with elevators taking quite a long time to arrive. We were exhausted after our 16-hour flight, yet waited a whole hour for our bags, which I had to carry myself and put on the luggage racks. However, what upset me the most was the unprofessionalism of the concierge staff. Both Rick and Michael were not helpful at all in helping us arrange PCR appointments for Hawaii. They each gave us different information, which turned out completely falsified after further research, and insisted the State of Hawaii approved only one testing center in LA. Not only was that not true, but we also ended up going to a clinic that was 15-mins rather than 40-mins away for half the price. The concierge's responsibility in all reputable hotels is to assist guests with any necessary arrangements. At the Four Seasons BW, that hasn't been the case. My second encounter with the concierge staff was equally disappointing. I requested a restaurant reservation, which Abbey told me she would confirm shortly. An hour later, I called to follow up and was told by Michael that the restaurant we're looking to book accepts walk-ins, no reservations at all. Not long after, we received a letter with confirmed dinner plans at the same restaurant from Richard. You can imagine how confused and, rightfully frustrated, we were at the discrepancy between each experience we've had so far with the concierge staff— the least favorable experience we've had at any Four Seasons property. I have raised the above with Johanna, the on-duty manager, who shared my frustration. Nonetheless, I share the sentiments of many other guests— though the location is great, you're better off staying at The Peninsula or the Waldorf Astoria. The service at the BW has genuinely been subpar, and neither upholds the Four Seasons quality standards nor justifies the rate. Read less

From the hotel staff to the rooms, bar, in-room service, the experience was simply fantastic. The hotel and its personnel plus the bed and pillows were so awesome, we didn't want to go home. It was such a wonderful experience to be at the Beverly Wilshire, very special indeed.

Love this historic landmark hotel, now managed by the Four Seasons, for its proximity to Rodeo shopping, and its rich history. One of my favorite movies is also "Pretty Woman." But I will leave this review unbiased. Good property. The rooms are not really "modern" - the furnishings are simple but sufficient, and there is an aged feel about the property, but I feel like it is intentional. Nothing ornate, but the property, despite its size, does have a quaint feel. Good amenities Endless bottles of water and the signature Four Seasons sanitary kits that include mask and antibacterial gel. They also had a complimentary ice cream cart in the lobby during one of the days. Super service What makes this property stand out is that the staff simply cannot do enough. This is a key sign I look for whenever I stay at a 5 star establishment. Does the staff seem eager to help you? Do they try to go above and beyond? Do they seem to truly care? The Beverly Wilshire checks off all these boxes, which is more than many others in the area, unfortunately. FHR benefit With the AmEx FHR program, we were upgraded to a lovely junior suite and I believe it was a $70 credit for breakfast. YES I would stay here again. Read less
