Cape Grace Hotel

Cape Town, South Africa

The hotel

Part of the Cape Town social scene, this iconic hotel attracts discerning locals and travellers to its vibrant Bascule Bar. Known for its whisky, wine, and cocktails (and tapas), sundowners in the bar are just one of Cape Grace’s dining and drinking experiences, with others including daily wine orientation with an excellent sommelier in the award-winning Signal Restaurant which is extremely impressive. Sat on it’s own quay between the working harbour and the yacht basin, with stunning views of Table Mountain; this luxurious hotel gives a personal and quality service that is epitomised by it’s individually decorated rooms. Each room has it’s own “story”, with local artwork and rare antiques to complement the theme, and deluxe amenities that form the quiet luxury of Cape Grace. The chauffeur service is ideal for visiting Table Mountain, or for evening trips out to local restaurants - of which there are plenty nearby.

Fabulous hotel with warm staff who couldn’t do enough to look after us. Location fantastic. Rooms generously sized with excellent amenities and views of the marina. Signal restaurant served amazing food and the sommelier was superb - very knowledgeable. We would return in a heartbeat - thank you Cape Grace

I must say i was blown away by my first stay at the Cape Grace Hotel. I had booked two connecting rooms for 7 nights. I must say i was blown away by my first stay at the Cape Grace Hotel. I had booked two connecting rooms for 7 nights. The hotel exudes old school charm, and what it lacks in modernity, it makes up for in exceptional service. The rooms are not short of anything. Any amenity you can think of you will find. The staff all go the extra mile and are always willing to help. The location is ideal for the Waterfront. Just a brisk 5 minute walk and you are there. You can conveniently park directly outside the front of the hotel and the hotel never felt crowded. There was no buffet breakfast, but rather a menu from which you ordered, which pretty much covered everything. The food was tasty but the waitresses tried remembering orders instead of writing them down, which led to some missing items on a few occasions. The pool area was small so didn’t really use it during our stay. The only dampener for me was when i requested a one hour late checkout and that was denied. Considering i had been staying at the hotel for a week i felt the least they could have done is afforded me the courtesy of the one hour extension, and even thou the hotel was not full, this request was denied. Nevertheless, my overall stay at the Cape Grace was positive and i look forward to visiting again in the future. Read less

Stayed here during the holidays and had an *amazing* time. Staff was great and super attentive, great location, and overall a very comfortable stay. There is a great view of table mountain from some of the rooms. Would definitely recommend.

Unfriendly doormen bar the door turning away visitors for lunch. I had a business lunch there which I promptly cancelled and had the group reconvene at the V and A who seemed grateful for the revenue. We won’t be using again for oil or mining indaba.

This past October was our second trip to Cape Grace in the last three years. After having just opened from an 18 month closure due to Covid we did not know what to expect and boy were we surprised. They have only gotten better ! Our five night stay had only one problem, it was to short! This hotel has exceptional service, beautifully appointed and large rooms, and superb amenities. It is also the best location in Cape Town being within a hundred yards of the V&A Waterfront. We have traveled the world and this hotel is in our top three hotels to visit. I can not say enough about the staff. We have only been gone a few weeks and I miss my friends already. We are currently planning a return trip in the next year or two and Cape Grace will be on our itinerary. If you are looking for a five star hotel in Cape Town you need to look no further. Read less
