Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

Vancouver, Canada

The hotel

A veritable castle in the heart of the city, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is an impeccable symbol of indulgence and pedigree. Offering the luxury and services of a world-class hotel, all guest rooms are beautifully furnished with every attention to detail observed. Facilities include a state-of-the-art health club, accessible 24-hours a day, with indoor heated swimming pool and saunas. Pilates and Yoga classes are available at the Sitka Studios or treat yourself to some well-deserved pampering at the Absolute Spa. There’s also some prime shopping in the lobby with designers stores selling plenty to tempt you! Although you’re close to plenty of restaurants and bars in the downtown area, the Fairmont’s very own Notch8 Restaurant & Bar is the ideal place to relax and watch the world pass by. Named after a train’s top speed, achieved only by the most skilled conductors, the restaurant pays homage to the hotel’s storied history and legacy as a luxury hotel along the Canadian Pacific railway. A traditional afternoon tea is also served here daily — for a special occasion, add a glass of champagne or, if the kids want to tag along, childish delights include Bubblegum Tea, fresh strawberries and cream and a giant chocolate chip cookie!

Tv and in room tech was antiquated. No Bluetooth speaker or no way to connect to TV. Folks wanna bring their own content, they don’t want to upgrade to box office movies. All you need is a smart tv and basic cable for re-runs and movies. Without a refrigerator in the room you can’t store necessities (small jug of milk for coffee/tea). This forces you to call room service which includes a delivery fee for a glass of milk which can’t be stored for the next day (no fridge). I’m general the mini bar, and bottle of wine on a sensor is a constant reminder that the hotel attracts you at a low rate and aims to upsell. Not a good look. Would consider adding a hot tub since you already have the pool. Lastly, one of our bellhops was arguing with a cleaner in front of us which was kind of awkward. Read less

She was efficient and had no issue settling us into a wonderful room despite us showing up 3 hours prior to check in. Every valet, and front door person was excellent. Despite having to stand outside in the freezing cold, rain and snow we were always greeting with warm friendly smiles upon our departure or return to the hotel. Roy walked completlly out of his way to open doors for us on our way out. In our current world where there isn't enough kindness, I recommend a stay at the Hotel Vancouver, where you will right at home and more than welcomed. I am a local, have stayed many times at this location, and will keep coming back! Read less

I was not aware their restaurant extended so far into the back. The far back area was lovely and decorated like a library. We had their high tea with 2 huge scones each! It was definitely plentiful as we had leftovers. The service was very good and nicely decorated for the holiday season.

We stayed for 8 nights for the last week of the year and selected this (incredible) hotel because of the location and previous experience with Fairmont in other properties. The remodeling of the hotel is wonderful, great taste, and the rooms are very comfortable, albeit on the smaller side. Location is perfect. Staff is incredibly friendly and attentive . We had some issues with the water a coupe of days, but that did not create a major disruption and was promptly attended F&B was OK (mainly for breakfast and dinner one night), and because of the COVID restrictions, the overall experience was somehow affected, but Notch8 is a great option if one elects to stay in instead of exploring the incredible dining options in Vancouver. Definitively will return to this hotel when visiting Vancouver again. Read less
