Golden Nugget Las Vegas

Downtown, Las Vegas

The hotel

Boasting some of Las Vegas’ finest rooms and suites after a $380 million dollar transformation, it’s easy to understand why. The accommodation is divided between four majestic towers with wonderful views of the Las Vegas Strip, the Spring Mountains and the hotel’s incredible pool. Then there's the Tank, as the swimming complex is known, comes complete with a shark tank, 3-storey waterslide and 13 private cabanas for hire. There’s also an infinity pool, aptly named The Hideout, which is strictly for adults only. Other temptations include a superb spa with steam rooms, sauna, massage and beauty treatments plus a state-of-the-art fitness centre to work off those American-sized portions! Several restaurants are at your disposal, including Vic and Anthony’s, one of the country’s finest steakhouses. Alternatively, head to Chart House for sumptuous seafood, Red for Pan-Asian cuisine or Grotto for Italian fare. Come sundown, Troy Liquor Bar is the place to be with a lively atmosphere, DJs and exotic cocktails. An incredible hotel with an incredible range of amenities, look out in particular for the Hand of Faith in the lobby - a 61-pound gold nugget found in Australia in 1980 with a metal detector just six inches below ground – now that’s Lady Luck at her finest!

Location was exactly what I wanted. The hotel and casino were excellent. Some of the restaurants were closed as well as pool area, but it was January. Not much contact with staff. Bartenders were excellent, very attentive. Check in was a bit slow. The desk staff spent a ridiculous amount of time sanitizing desk between guests and seemed a bit cold… Read more

The whole trip felt "timed" There were unexpected fees along with contradicting rules. The only great service was valet. I booked my room through agoda and it literally tells you the resort fee under your room details. However, when you arrive at The Golden Nugget they inform you that they have their own resort fee. I didn't even know you could change it like that. Anyway, then they have a strict non smoking rule everywhere in the hotel but it's ok in the casino? That's stupid. It smells like smoke everywhere in that place. I'm not bothered by the smoking it's been like that since I was a kid every time I've went to Vegas. That's expected, but that rule is counter productive and as a smoker I felt immediate regret staying there. They also have an early departure fee and text you reminders of when your check out is. As if you don't know, or I'm sure there is a fee for leaving late. That reminder should be optional. Some people want to get away and reminders like that can sometimes make your realize how short your time is. They have no one coming to these hotels right now because of covid but they are so eager to get you out of there or they will charge you if you don't leave on time. I was texted early morning about checkout. There was an option for luggage, where someone would come to your room and help you with your things. I texted them around 1040 they never came by 11 checkout time. I called and a lady answered with attitude. I asked if I could confirm that my request for someone to come was submitted. She had no clue what I was asking for even though I pressed the bell hop button. She never confirmed anything just told me that someone was on their way. 30 min past checkout me and my girlfriend Carried all 10 pieces of luggage ourselves to valet on the other side of the hotel. SMH. That was a terrible stay. Probably won't go there again unless they change how they run things. Me and my girlfriend haven't went out anywhere since this pandemic started. Even though she said it was ok, I can't help but think how much of a better experience I would have had at all the other places I considered. I'm anxious to see my bill come through email. There might be some fees that they charged me that I'm not aware of. They also have the nerve to put someone downstairs who stands there as you walk by offering you to come back instead of offering help with luggage. I saw someone at the checkout make eye contact with me as I was leaving and I just shook my head. Read less

Decided to stay Downtown instead of the strip. First time staying downtown on Fremont street, but it won't be the last. Enjoyed the proximity of the casinos along Fremont Street, restaurants, museums, and the bars along the Fremont East District. Masks were required for all guests and employees and there were hand sanitizer stations throughout. Check-in was quick and easy. We were even offered an upgrade the following night, but we decided to stay in our room in the Gold Tower, which was easy access to the casino floor. The room was nice, clean and well appointed, so we had no complaints. The pool was closed (due to Covid), but the aquariums were full of fish and sharks. All restaurants/bars were open and operating. There was also a gift shop/store open 24 hours. Overall great stay at the Golden Nugget! Read less

We are loyal GN guests… have been for decades. It’s time GN, to clean it up, renovate, and keep your place as the shining star of downtown. It’s a hard sale to spend what we do when so many other resorts offer coffee in room, fridges for all, microwaves, heck even fully stocked mini bars. We love this place but it’s in desperate need of some love… Read more
