The hotel

The Roosevelt is Hollywood's only historic hotel still in operation today. It hosted the first ever Academy Awards in 1929 and has seen throngs of people - including celebrities galore - pass through its doors. The hotel has even been featured in a few films and Shirley Temple took her first tap-dancing lesson on the tiled stairway! As if that's not enough, Montgomery Clift and Marilyn Monroe are reputed to haunt the joint - proof this place is too good to leave!

The Hollywood Roosevelt was a great hotel for a girls trip. Our room was spacious an clean and we were given an upgrade on check in for being enrolled in iprefer. Interior of hotel was super charming with all sorts of interesting nooks and unique bars and restaurants. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience at the pool. We arrived late morning and it was already packed. There were no available lounge chairs although there were many with reserved signs on them that remained empty for hours. The pool attendant said she would let us know when seats became available, but we never heard from her again and she disappeared. We were told that the hotel gave day passes to outside guests, including reserved beds that sat empty for hours. According to their website, the poolside beds are exclusively reserved for hotel guests. This was absolutely not the case. We heard one guy say that he lives down the street and just came to hang out for the day. The beds are also supposed to be on a first serve basis with no reservations. We sat there for over three hours and not a seat opened up and staff were not enforcing clearing unattended seats. We spoke to a manager who took our names and said she would take care of us and we never heard from her again. So disappointed that we missed out on a great day by the pool because the hotel did not follow their own guidelines and were obviously understaffed. The front desk begrudgingly took off our resort fee when we asked. Our pool experience really ruined an otherwise great stay. Read less

This is an amazing hotel with an unbelievable history and an incredible staff. My wife and I stayed here while attending the Tribute Concert for Jimmy Buffett a couple of weeks ago. We stayed in a room across the hall from the Marilyn Monroe suite (thanks to Olivia's recommendation when we checked in). We immediately went to the Tropicana pool and grabbed one of their iconic two-person lounge chairs and ordered some drinks. Emily (first day) and Olivia (second day) provided 5 star service. After the concert we went bowling in The Spare Room. We had an absolute blast thanks to Colton. Finally, a special shoutout to Cody for the impromptu tour of the hotel's history. In summary, it was an experience that my wife and I will never forget and we hope to return some day. Read less

Great service & staff was very courteous and friendly. Food and cocktails were excellent. Room was extremely comfortable, a lot of space and clean with a great bed for comfort! Hotel is very clean & well maintained. I would hesitate about staying here again.
