Hotel Zephyr

Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco

The hotel

After a multi million dollar renovation, the Zephyr has been transformed into a modern, quirky hotel with a nautical theme and laidback vibe. In the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf, you can walk to PIER 39 and Ghirardelli Square (did someone say chocolate?) or jump on a cable car to explore further. Hidden at the back of the hotel is Fire & Brew, a casual restaurant with a sociable atmosphere. There are lots of dining options close by too — grab a clam chowder bread bowl or head to Chinatown for delicious dim sum. When you're done sightseeing for the day, your hotel room offers a welcome oasis from a city that seemingly never sleeps!

Perfectly functional hotel for a stop over stay, but lacking in amenities that make it unworkable for a family or long stay. Extremely overpriced with added hidden costs that you would assume are included in advertised price. Clean, quiet, nice sized bed. Coffee machine machine but no kettle. Due to covid rooms are not serviced during stay. I came with a 7 months old. The supplied baby cot/crib is an old fashioned metal one. The room was too small to put the crib comfortably. An extra 6 inches would have made all the difference. No high chair available which meant feeding was a real faff. Zephyr, I would like to see that crib replaced with a (cheap) plastic travel crib and high chairs in room on request. The price seems extraordinary high for what it is. Parking at $60 a night. Plus this random $25 resort fee a night. Put your advertised prices up and stop hiding fees. How is this tactic legal? I will be taking this up with my travel agent as to why we were not told in advance. Read less

I and my wife stayed here for a few days whilst visiting San Francisco. The hotel itself is clean and well located from Fisherman’s Wharf. Staff are friendly enough and are communicative via email in the event of questions. Nearly all California hotels have a hidden 'service' fee but this hotel it was totally worth it. There is tons to do downstairs in the lobby. We played games and roasted marshmallows. Just hung out with grandparents who were in the hotel across the road but preferred to hang out here. Altogether lovely experience. It seems pricier then neighbouring hotels but with the hidden costs at other hotels u will end up paying about the same and this one is worth it. We had a great time. Thank you!! Read less

We are regular world travelers. We know our hotels and are pretty tolerant. This hotel however feels like a total scam. It’s been “updated” with wallpaper and paint but still manages to feel like an aging 70s beach motel. The noise from the pier and the traffic is super loud even with the balcony doors shut. The doors are original so sound dampening is nonexistent. We paid over $400 for a king room with bay view balcony. Well it’s actually just a parking lot view with the bay in the distance. And if you sit down you won’t be able to see anything because the railings are so high. The railings are also dirty as are the doorways in the room - dirty fingerprints. The bathroom is tiny and outdated, the pillows are cheap, the hallways are long and dark. The only nice thing is the staff - very friendly. We just checked in and are trying to find another hotel.
