Le Meridien New Orleans

New Orleans, Louisiana

Virgin rating

The hotel

Deep in downtown, Le Méridien New Orleans presents The Big Easy in all its glitzy glory. After a mega-million dollar refit, it mixes the city’s refined style and sense of fun, with pops of yellow and blue, music-inspired accessories, and reflections of New Orleans in its photography. Location’s key of course – it’s just 100 metres from Bourbon Street and Harrah’s Casino, and 300 metres from the French Quarter. And they’ve teamed up with The Sweat Social to bring you running tours, Priority Bicycles to offer bike hire, and three incredible art museums to give you complimentary entry. Returning to base, you can swim in the rooftop pool, dine on Deep South inspired dishes at LMNO, and take time out in The Hub – a café-come-bar with complimentary WiFi, a New American menu, and an evening aperitif hour featuring sparkling cocktails.

I never write reviews but this behavior was so egregious it can’t go undocumented. Saturday, May 4th we called down for room service at 10:25 & were told it’s too late to order because room service ends at 10:30am but we could order at the bar. We went down thinking we’d get some coffee and get on with the day but were told by the woman behind the bar we couldn’t order anything until 11am. I was surprised & trying to get more info when my husband said don’t bother, you can tell she doesn’t care. And then she started SHOUTING at my husband, “Well, I mean I don’t! And why should I care, the rules are the rules and there’s nothing I can do to change them and why are you talking to me like that anyway!” And she carried on and on for about 90 seconds. She had a tantrum right there in the lobby behind the bar. Someone, perhaps a manager, tried to get her under control and she completely ignored him continuing to shout until she was done. He apologized for her and directed us to the Doubletree for coffee since there was no way to get a cup in the hotel at 10:30 on a Saturday morning. We had good experiences with housekeeping and staff that checked minibar but front desk staff was unhelpful and lacked a customer service vision. They seem inexperienced and under-trained or at the very least under-supervised. It was clear they’d all rather be on their phones. No one asked if this was our first visit or let us know how Wi-Fi worked or when breakfast was available. They didn’t care. I’m a Bonvoy Gold member & this experience has me reinvigorating my Hilton Honors account. Location is convenient but Loews, Windsor Court, Fontenot & Double Tree are all right there as well.. Really nice accommodations!! The best location in the city in CBD, close to the action but quiet enough to keep me sane. Had a bit of wonkiness at first due to reservations through a third party platform not being in hotel’s system promptly but corrected by senior hotel management. Otherwise a first class stay and I will be going nowhere else when I go back to NOLA. Beds were wonderful. Room was great, mostly quiet and great views . Pretty good size room with two queen beds. Room service daily which made it wonderful. My roomie snored too much and I was tempted to use one of the comfy pillows on him but let it pass :) Seriously, a wonderful stay and first class service. Nice pool and gym. Good coffee choices nearby within a few blocks too (Starbux and Revelator and others). Read less

The hotel was beautiful and so convenient to the trolley and Jazz Fest. Clean and comfortable and the bellhop Albert was so helpful with our bags. We Will definitely be back! They also kept our car safe because it was too tall with our roof top carrier for the covered parking lot!

I had a mix up at another hotel right across the street and so glad I did because I stumbled on this hotel. An amazing experience so let me begin to give shout outs starting with the check in process with Sherron, thank you so much for seeing my tiredness and giving me the look that everything would be ok. Your kind words and quick check in gave me peace of mind. To Sharde, and Sharon for making certain that I knew where to go when looking for food late at night. To the general manager Mr. Jacques for expeditiously responding to my email and to Keounta for listening to my needs. The wait staff in the restaurant were excellent but unfortunately I didn't get their names. The car check in was easy and the attendants attentive. Staff members were attentive to the customers. The hotel was clean and the work out facility in addition to the rooftop pool was great. Professionalism and cleanliness without the stuffiness. It's the place to be. I'm coming back and staying with you. Read less
