Room was great, elevators can be a little funny. Only downside is the overpowering smell of cigarette smoke in the casino. But food is so delish everywhere we ate. Service is good. Bed comfortable.

Nice room, cigarette smoke everywhere was disgusting. TV being sub-HD and not a smart TV was pretty pathetic.
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Terrible experience. Your staff needs to be properly trained.

I have always had a great experience at New York, New York. I’ve stayed there three times before. This last time, however it was absolutely terrible. Our first room, 2402 smelled like marijuana when we got in there. So I went down to the front desk and I asked the girl working there. (I think her name is Tiffany) if we could switch rooms. After going back-and-forth about room types and things like that, she finally assigned us to room 2828 and handed over a new key. She told us that it would take a day or so for our app to update and that there would be an additional $16 a day which we were OK with. The next day we get a call from someone at the hotel asking me why my things were in a different room. The man said Housekeeping went in 2828 and my luggage was in there and he was asking me why. I told him that it was because the girl switched us rooms. He asked me if I had anybody with me I replied yes, my boyfriend is staying with me. He then asked me a multitude of questions that were none of his business as my guest is not on the room. He asked my boyfriend’s name and I gave it to him. He told me that the housekeeping staff went through our stuff to find out whose luggage was in this room. Completely inappropriate to go through our luggage. He told me to go to the front desk when we got back to the hotel. When I went to the front desk to speak with Jennifer or Jenny she assured me that that was policy that the housekeeping staff goes through the stuff so that they know who is in the room. Find out from Jenny that the girl never switched our room over and we were never charged the $16 additional fee for the room with the view..which by the way was not a room with a view. They accused us of crashing a room, which I don’t know how we would’ve gotten the keys to. After going back and forth on policy and accusations we get it situated with Jenny. Everything is now updated to 2828. Later that afternoon we go up to that room and our keys do not work so we cannot get into the room of 2828 because they shut our keys off. I again have to inconvenience my stay over a hotel staff mistake. They demanded that I give them my ID to prove that is my room.. but my ID is in the room that I can’t get into because they shut off my key. Maybe don’t accuse your guests of crashing rooms when they’ve stayed here three years in a row and requested a room with a view that they didn’t even get. The staff was extremely accusatory of me and I didn’t appreciate it at all, and I didn’t even get what I requested from the start. Terrible. Read less
