We had a fantastic stay at the Rui Plaza, very clean hotel and very friendly staff, breakfast was also a hit with the family. Just so disappointed that 33 days since checkout l have not received my $250 deposit returned despite being told it would take 10-14 days, pay in cash where possible.

My mum and I stayed at this hotel for 10 days and had a wonderful experience. We paid for breakfast in advance and while there are queues I really do wonder how other visitors would suggest it be managed. The longest we waited was around 30 minutes but we used the helpful suggestions on the lift signs to come at other times which would be less busy. The way the staff clear tables and keep things moving while in the breakfast room was very impressive. It was my birthday while I was away and I was surprised at breakfast with the staff singing happy birthday and giving me a cake which was so lovely. There were also chocolates in my room. The staff are the best thing about the hotel. I'm sorry we didn't get the names but the lady who organised my birthday surprises over the phone with my mum, the gentleman in the lift in the mornings giving us all an update on the days weather always with a smile and the gentleman who hailed a cab for us as we left yesterday were wonderful. Thank you for a lovely stay. I'll definitely be staying with you when I come back! Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Ok for a "mass" hotel. Keep expectations low and know that mornings will be long to get to eat.

Room : and space ok, but for 2 people we had only 1 chair, we had to switch. Bed high but mattrass ok, 2cmore pillows needed in room. The cover was a cover between 2 loose sheets, difficult to arrange and manage. The airco system is terrible. The low itself kills your head, had to cut it out all the time. The cover was a cover between 2 loose sheets, difficult to arrange and manage. The airco system is terrible. The low itself kills your head, had to cut it out all the time. Food: for 21 $ expectations were not high. Breakfast good variety but quality leaves a lot to be desired. Juices only industrial ones Minute Maid, and limited choice, nothing fresh. Eggs, omelets, industrial pancakes, and other options. Bread definitely not great, including the hard bagels. The queues to get to the breakfast area (average at 7 or 7.15 15 to 20 or+ mins standing up) was for us a "military camp" highly unpleasant experience. In the lobby you say you paid or pay fif the breakfast, then you start the huge queue to get to elevator and there to the 5th floor where the restaurant is. There is no time limit so people can sit, play, watch phone, while others are waiting. The people at the entrance, some were barking at us to stay behind the line, even though everyone was patient and then assigning tables was a comedy. All tables were for 2 people and joined up. They would assign priority to the larger groups, which was not fair to the couples. They could easily divide the tables. One "character" that really made our day was Christophe, in the morning, typical (New Jersey ?) happy go lucky (real not faked/ rehearsed) like others. "Howydoing ? Bonjour"...sweet guy. The area, you can see Time Square ftom the window, the noise is permanent, you can hear all the airco systems all night. It was our first "popular masses hotel", chosen by TUI, probably would not have chosen it ourselves. Read less

Hotel location is right next to Times Sq and subways so great links locally and further-afield. It was also really clean and modern. Staff friendly and accommodating. Breakfast. Its been covered by numerous reviews previously but this is where the hotel lets itself down. The quality of the breakfast (once you've queued!) is really good but waiting in queues for approx 30mins (first in the lobby, then again on the 5th floor) is so depressing. Its a basic demand/supply issue - there are far more guests than breakfast seating space; whoever signed off on this needs sacking. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, but with the caveat of the issue of queuing for breakfast (regardless of the time of the morning that you go). Read less
