I travel a lot, and am not normally compelled to write reviews...but because the reviews here almost scared me away, i am here to say this hotel is FINE. Is it dated? I travel a lot, and am not normally compelled to write reviews...but because the reviews here almost scared me away, i am here to say this hotel is FINE. Is it dated? Sure...but not in a hole in the carpets kind of way. If you're coming here to spend a lot of time in your hotel room, you don't need the convenient location of this hotel (I, by the way, ended up working a lot from my room, and it was great...I did appear to have been upgraded though from the basic room I reserved). The hotel IS huge. The front desk DID look overwhelmed at certain points during the day (I checked in through the app, got a mobile key and didn't need to talk to anyone until I arranged for a late check out on my last day). Everyone I spoke to was lovely and helpful. It IS very conveniently located (being attached to the Pru was amazing during this August heat wave). There are other hotels in the area, so if what you are looking for is a more personal experience or newly renovated rooms, there are lots of options. But I would stay here again. Read less

There are two towers for accommodations, both are tired, one marginally less than the other. This hotel is a massive inner-city facility connected to the prudential mall offering a number of substantial food options, a USPO and fedex. Rooms are tired, and do not feel properly cleaned. Room attendants converse loudly in the hallways; in fact, all hallway noises travel into rooms. The hotel can address the employees but if there is a function or families with children running amok in the hallways ... be prepared to be that old guy that yells at them to shut the hell up! Maybe in their next upgrade they can add a sound buffer to all room doors. The air-con struggles at times and the units themselves are filthy. The small bathrooms are awfully inconvenient. The door swings inwards, you cannot access the tub/shower without closing door. The door swings inches from your knee while on the throne. They could benefit from sliding doors in the next remodel if too cheap to add space to the bathroom. Vanity is oversized and wastes space with one sink. Many of the showers 'sing and shudder loudly'. The toilet is like those public lavs where they should just remove the lid so you can flush the lever with your foot. The bed is comfortable, I've always had clean sheets. If you get a chair in your room, either desk or single sofa, they are not clean - cover them with a towel before sitting in. Some rooms face a brick wall - great for wandering around in your undies. But they do have lovely large windowsill where you can sit and ponder the world outside. The window blinds allow light in around the edges, so the room can never be completely darkened for rest during daylight hours. The cafe in the lobby is a mix of mediocre service and food. Not capable of meeting busy times. But they make a decent espresso/latte etc. I think they try, but there are some odd dynamics amongst the staffing. The lobby restaurant is so-so for food and service, they could do so much better for patrons with their menu and service for hotel guests. The location in downtown Boston is key. I just wish they would up their game with a more congenial service team, or maybe the current is just the Boston way? I have had some really solid positive interactions with some of the employees here, but others have failed, either inexperienced or too busy. I believe that comes down to human resource management and training. It's not an awful hotel. It's okay in a pinch. There are many other hotels close by, the Sheraton REALLY needs to consider beginning sensible upgrades ... proper USB ports - not the ‘maybe-maybe not’ USB ports glued to the bedside table. I want to give it a better review based on the few employees who have reached above and beyond, alas, the hotel needs some serious upgrades on many levels. And why are one of the Tripadvisor questions below asking if anyone offered to speak Chinese!?? Read less

We had reservations for 2 rooms. Around 1pm we tried to check in early but they were announcing (yelling to everyone in the line) in the lobby that anyone there for early check-in were too late and to come back at 4pm (there was a Red Sox game that day). At 4 we came back and were only able to check in one room. They said the other would be ready around 5:30. We ended up all going into one room (7 of us) and waiting it out. Rooms were small. Toilets were weird public handles (you use your foot to flush). Shower curtains were old and rusty looking on bottom. Needed to be removed and new ones put in. Rug was VERY dirty. If you walked barefoot or white socks you had BLACK feet after a few walks back and forth. Small fridge in room. We had 4 people in our room but only had 3 big towels and 1 roll of toilet paper was provided (and we had 7 ppl for the first few hours because the second room wasn't complete). pool was dirty and tasted salty (but was nice being an indoor/outdoor pool). locked the door to the garage at 11 pm so you had to unlock it or go outside. starbucks in the lobby doesn't take starbucks cards. they did have a small gift shop for drinks, deodorant, etc so that was a plus. Not terrible hotel -- okay at best -- and if it's all that's available book it -- but if you can go to a different one then do it (and don't pick the Marriott as your alternative -- same owners and they were a disappointment to our friends who stayed there. Same types of problems. over booked, dirty, etc). Read less

Room not ready - downgrade to queen bed after I reserved a king bed. Waited forever for service of any kind. No USB ports for charging. Floors gross and sticky - had to put towels down. Decor and furniture run down and gross. What a nightmare of a hotel. The place needs to be demolished and rebuilt. Sheraton hotels should be ashamed of themselves. Never again staying here. I’ve stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels internationally and this doesn’t even come close to standard. Read less
