SLS Hotel South Beach

South Beach, Miami

Virgin rating

The hotel

Situated in the playground of the rich and famous, this is a playful concoction of sophistication, elegance and exemplary service right on the beach, just minutes from Ocean Drive. Elegant and luxuriously feminine, with an added contemporary edge, this accommodation really is fit for royalty, whilst the mirrors on the ceiling and box marked ‘sinners,’ add a very French twist to the otherwise demur décor. Designed in the style of a bathtub, there are 2 swimming pools which come complete with a 10 foot tall silver ‘rubber ducky’.

Breakfast was yum and dinner at Katsura was fun, especially the dessert donuts. Hotel Ambassadors were helpful, particularly Peter Erasme who seemed genuinely interested in making sure you had a great experience. Cons: this is a boutique hotel with two elevators that are a bit slow and housekeeping was impeccable but it takes a while to turn over a room. This is a perfect party hotel for a girl or guys trip and would definitely return!!! Read less

Hotel staff are either super nice or super rude, it's hit or miss. On-site restaurant staff, however, are all wonderful and go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your food. Expensive but well made/upscale food, however drink menu is limited and I found it odd they didn't have any of the classic frozen drinks like piña coladas. Salt water pool with plenty of comfy seating. Claims open dawn-dusk but during my stay (August) they'd start closing at 6 and ask you to get out of your seat once they got to it. Clean common areas and rooms. Fantastic location on the beach and a block from Lincoln Road Mall. All in all, I enjoyed it but it was way overpriced and service was inconsistent. Read less
