The decor of the hotel- dated and depressing. Although each room was booked for 2 people- there was amenities only for one (including one robe). Air conditioning in the room- super noisy. Sounds like a truck is passing by each time it is turned on. They sent an engineer to look a the problem and he said there is nothing to do, the AC in the hotel is noisy and that they renovated the interior but the AC system is very old, thus noisy and that we are welcomed to sleep at 0 degrees Celsius without heating! When contacted Justin (presented Himself as the manager, but turned out that hr is not) to change rooms. He showed us almost the same room in a higher floor or asked that we add money for a better room. Asked Justin to contact the general manager, and he refused saying he is not willing to disturb him out of his office hours and said our only other option is to check out. Will never stay here again. This Ritz does not resemble any other Ritz that I have ever stayed in and is an embarrassment to the Ritz !!! All this and I am at this hotel for 2 hours. I always stay at the Langham and it is pure pleasure. Here its a horrible experience ! Read less

We walked to Rockefeller Center, restaurants and easily took the subway. It was a pleasure to stay here and we can't wait to return. Thank you! Read less

3 night stay on Bonvoy points between Xmas and New Years. We were in town celebrating my 40th birthday, so the Ritz-Carlton on Central Park seemed like the perfect spot. Overall, a great stay and experience, with just a few wrinkles up front and one personal preference… I had communicated with the property via chat that we would be in town to celebrate my b-day. So, after a long day of traveling, it was great to hear from the front desk agent at check-in that our room had been upgraded (Bonvoy status may have helped too). However, upon entering our room, we found a plate of Christmas cookies alongside a card addressed to a different guest. My wife had coordinated with the hotel ahead of time to arrange for a celebratory bottle of champagne to be on-ice in the room upon our arrival, so imagine her dismay when she saw cookies for someone else. Initial thought was that maybe we were in the wrong room, so quick call down to the front desk - did confirm our room was correct; blamed the cookies and lack of bubbly on an in-room dining mix-up. About 10 minutes later, staff arrived with the chilled bottle of champagne, a fine bottle of cab (courtesy of my boss), and some chocolate covered strawberries. Still do not know if the good doctor ever received his Christmas cookies (or if he kept quiet and enjoyed the bottles of booze that may have gone to his room instead of mine) Our room was very nice/updated and very quiet (almost no noise from the busy street below could be heard in the room). We overlooked CP and it was fun to look out at all the people walking and taking carriage rides below, and the sunsets were pretty special to watch too. My only gripe about the room, however, was the lack of in-room coffee. I’ve stayed at hotels all over the world, including several other R-C and luxury brands, and I can’t recall the last property that didn’t have a Nespresso, Keurig, or old-fashioned percolator in the room with which to make my own coffee. During our first day, we returned to the hotel mid-day after lunch/shopping and both of us were craving a cup of coffee. Without the ability to make coffee in the room, I ventured down to the lobby thinking there might be an afternoon coffee/tea bar setup (there was none). I ended up ordering one black coffee and one latte from the bar….$30! And the coffee wasn’t even that great either. Luckily, there is a Starbucks a couple blocks away that we walked to every morning to avoid the need for a coffee-induced second mortgage Besides the champagne/cookie mixup and the overpriced coffee options, we were still very pleased with our stay and will definitely consider another stay during any future visits to NYC Read less

Initially I didn't want to post a review but for fellow travelers I guess I need to do one just to set expectations. There are all sorts of problems with the hotel. Decoration wise, nothing is really impressive but I didn't mind that. When we got to the room the minibar was broken and they needed to de-ice it with me inside the room. The water made the carpet wet and they had put a towel. I arrived that night in the room and found what looked like a cheap hotel doing improvisations. They even brought an extra fridge that was all scratched and bulky which I wanted to be removed. When I started to complain firmly they offered another room (but smaller) and my choice was to pack again 5 pieces of luggage or stay. In the end they fixed the minibar. The rest of the problems are small but annoying. Examples : - I needed to ask 3 times in the restaurant for an extra chair to get one. - A bartender called Chuck was rude to me when I asked for a special gin by telling me "I can't recommend anything, when you know what you want, call me" Then he turned and left. - The mirror inside the room was stained really bad since the day we arrived. Never got cleaned. - I was not able to speak to a manager although I asked to see one when I had an issue with the fridge. Would have loved to see someone cared about what's going on. Nice people on the job : Thomas and Giselle. Today I am ending my 7 day vacation here and I am not leaving being happy. They need to level up their game. Read less

Checked in for a seven night stay as a lifetime gold elite member of Marriott. I have stayed here many times and was excited to see the newly advertised grand redesign and renovations. Denied upgrade at check in, and told one would only be available the last night of my stay. Shown to a room that was supposed to be “boldly redesigned”, as their advertising says. I have stayed at the hotel many times. The rooms have had changes of carpet and furniture in the bedroom areas. Drapery, which I later discovered was covered in mold, remains the same. Bathrooms have seen absolutely no renovations and are very tired and dated. Toiletries are not on par with other five star properties, and are overly fragranced. Simple things like hair dryers are cheap and resemble what one would find in a budget hotel. No welcome amenity in the room as per promised award tier. I had to change rooms the first evening as the drapery was covered in mold. Turndown has been missed the first two nights of the stay. A large black garbage bag with garbage that wasn’t my own was left in the room by cleaning staff on the first day, and was discovered when I returned to the room. Cleaning standards are lax and seem to be a bare minimum, not to mention cleaning carts left outside in hallways of the hotel are a constant eyesore. Compared to a recent stay at the Four Seasons, there is truly no comparison. Staying at a Five Star hotel is all about attention to detail. Things like your toiletries neatly arranged, slippers left by your bed at turndown. Water by your bedside table. This is nonexistent here. Sadly, this property seems to lack any attention to detail whatsoever and it shows. This property seems more like a three star property in many ways. I am sad to see a property that I used to love so lacking in so many areas. The only word I can use to describe it now is lacklustre. Read less
