The hotel

Like a beautiful, glass puzzle box, this newcomer to Seattle’s luxury boutique hotel scene stands just a block away from Pike Place Market and the waterfront. As such it commands disarming views of Puget Sound through to the distant Olympic Mountains from The Nest – the Thompson Seattle’s urbane rooftop bar and outdoor living room – and many of its rooms and suites – through pulse-quickening, floor-to-ceiling windows. Decorated with elegant materials given quirky contemporary life through an understated colour palette, the look and feel is very much 'comfortable luxury residence'; something that’s only enhanced by a 24-hour fitness centre, complimentary WiFi, and Scout PNW, a restaurant by local hero chef Josh Henderson that turns the finest locally sourced ingredients into dishes that become lifelong memories.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating AC didn’t work and Manager didn’t honor late checkout

Appreciated being upgraded to a suite thanks to AmEx Platinum, but the AC did not work our entire stay and the average temperature in our room was 78 degrees, making the room hellish to be in. Credit to maintenance for trying to reset the air compressor and providing a (frankly useless) portable AC unit, but they finally admitted that insufficient vents had been installed in the suite. So despite having a nice suite we tried to avoid being there as much as possible. When checking in the front desk staff offered a late checkout, and we accepted. However on day of checkout the Manager (skinny guy with glasses) refused to acknowledge the late checkout and said we had to be out by noon. So I had to handle an important work call at noon from the lobby with multiple participants commenting on all the background noise. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this hotel. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Double billed - check your bill after you leave!!

A good location and friendly staff but be warned - they will charge you for things after you leave - including your room a second time and never reply to emails to sort out the issue. Awful. I would not stay again and would encourage others to check their credit cards after leaving for being billed for services and goods in error.

This hotel is one block from Pike Place Market. It is also very clean and comfortable. It is a perfect place to stay when vacationing in Seattle. The hotel was recently renovated, so all of the furnishings are new. The bed was particularly comfortable.

Less than a mile from the Chihuly museum, the Needle and other area attractions so it fit exactly what we were looking for. We splurged on the water view and it was great! Valet parking was easy and our car was secure. Best of all, the young woman at the front desk today was OUTSTANDING. She made us feel so welcome and was just the friendliest. They held our bags and car after checkout so we could do a little more exploring. When we got back it was so easy getting us on the road - and was nice to be welcomed again by friendly faces that remembered us. Based on our experience this is where we will always stay - oh, and the app lets you bypass the front desk and go straight to your room for check in which was fab! Read less

Thanks for great pre-planning since January, our stay was filled with tremendous service and our party on the Nest blew away all friends and family. I would recommend the Thompson for anyone visiting Seattle.
