The Mrs. and I are frequent Vegas travelers and we try to visit at least every 3 months, if not more. Based on our gambling, we go back and forth between the Wynn and Palazzo for our stays based on offers. For our last trip this past weekend, we received a great offer and booked the trip and upgraded to the Prestige check-in, as it's the only way to stay when visiting.
We arrived on Friday night at 7:30 PM, the Prestige front desk was great as always, but things quickly soured as my wife wanted to order a martini after check-in while I brought our luggage to the room.
15 minutes later I receive a call from my wife who was genuinely upset. Upon entering the lounge the first thing the bartender rudely said to her was "we're closing in 15 minutes". No greeting, no hello, that's it. My wife said "that's fine, can I order a martini". The bartender replied in a scolding manner "I can make it, but it's not complimentary". Again, my wife said that was fine to which he replied "I have to take your payment ahead of time".- That's a totally new one for me. Which AGAIN, my wife replied "fine". She went to sit down with her martini, and several men walked in it was a night and day experience, greeting guests like old family and most importantly not talking down to an accomplished attorney who was dressed appropriately and a guest in the lounge. She left her drink and was adamant that we won't be back at the lounge again.
After doing some gambling after dinner we wanted to take a break and enjoy a cocktail. Bar Luca was standing room only, but we finally managed to find 2 bar stools next to a couple of hookers and a biker gang that was occupying a large area behind us. As we were having our drinks, two face-tatted guys came up to the bar to our right, and at that point, several members of the biker gang came up to our left. We were literally caught in the middle of a super uncomfortable stand-off that prompted me to ask a server if we can have a seat at one of the empty tables.
"Two drink minimum per person!" She shouted. Our current drinks didn't count to this, and this was our only option.
Being a bit uncomfortable we figured we'd try to have drinks at one of the other two bars, and at both, we were promptly told, "I'm sorry we're full" I asked if there were exceptions for guests of the hotel, and was flatly denied. There is literally nowhere for hotel guests to enjoy a break from the tables and slots and relax over a few cocktails. Especially since the Prestige Lounge closes at 8:00 PM.
We decided to give up for the night and revisit everything on Saturday.
Saturday afternoon we made our way out, but first tried to find a cab service. I never noticed this before, but with a ridiculously silly cab line, I realized, as a Caesars Diamond member, there are dedicated cab lines for players who spend more. At Wynn Tower Suites, there are dedicated cab lines for suite guests with a separate entrance, at the Palazzo and Venetian, there's nothing. Is it that hard to just give your prestige-level guests a little bit of TLC?
Dinner at Mott 32 is always spot on, but from the very start, the Palazzo did their very best to not make us feel welcome, or want to return.
On Sunday, we wanted to order room service and placed an order at 10:30 in the morning and we were told it would be 45-minutes to an hour. At 1:00 PM we canceled it. A rude reminder of our last stay when it took over 2 1/2 hours for dinner. Why do we keep putting ourselves through this?
At the end of our stay, we came to the conclusion, that staying here just isn't worth it. We spend a good amount of money gambling, we return often and the service is subpar. I'd rather pay rack rate for a Parlour Suite at the Wynn than a comp here moving forward.
Lastly, while I disagree with the late Sheldon Adelson's political views, we kept coming back because I respected how employees talked about how great of a boss he was. Treat your employees with respect, dignity, and fairly and you have the potential to build an army.
During this last visit, multiple staff members told me "it's all about profits" and trying to be as cheap as possible.
That explains everything.

Everything was great until I was asked to check-in at the VIP counter, which the front-desk staff was impatient and not interested to interact with me. When asked a question, was responded with reluctant and a sense of despise.
The room was luxurious, spacious and clean, love the concept and the comfortable it made me feel. I can definitely stay in the room all day if I'm able to. But there are something missing, not sure is it the hotel's management strategies. No complementary bottled water(s), No complementary coffee mix/tea bags and No water kettle. All are chargeable with a hefty price tag. I always thought these items are basic essentials for a hotel room until it proved me wrong when I stayed with Palazzo. Anyway to rectify this situation, you can just walk (10-15min, depending on how fast you walk & navigate in the hotel) to the nearest supermarket, Walgreen to buy all the things that you want.
I have not try other restaurants within the hotel, but if you can, please avoid Grand Lux Cafe and Hong Kong Cafe, their foods were either too salty, sour or bland. When commented to the server, they don't seem to bother too much. Explore restaurants outside the hotels is highly recommended.
The hotel and room are great, just some small incidents that happened along the way that tainted my first stay with the hotel. Will I recommend this hotel? it depends with the situation when you are selecting your hotel in Las Vegas.

Don’t worry if you’ve missed a payment or just need a little more time to pay; we have options available to help you. Payments are being prioritised based on when the request was made, working in order from March 2020 onwards. We will always try to process refunds at the earliest opportunity, for requests before August our maximum timeframe is 120 days. As we are steadily reducing the maximum processing time for each new request, for refund requests made in August, we expect the maximum processing time to be 80 days, from the date the refund is requested. For those requesting a refund in September, we expect it to be processed within a maximum of 60 days, and then reduce to 30 days for refunds requested in October, before returning to normal levels.
To finalise the amendment, one of our customer advisors will phone you. We need to work through amend requests in departure date order so we can prioritise those with the most imminent travel plans, so you may have a longer wait than usual until we’re able to ring you back. We will help everyone that wants to move their holiday.
I returned early from holiday and have further questions?
You can contact our team by emailing feedback.backhome@virginholidays.com to discuss options on unused portions of your holiday. If you need to contact our team about amending an existing holiday or requesting a refund please log in to manage my booking.
