Owned by our own Sir Richard Branson, this is one of the most luxurious and exclusive game lodges in the world. It is located amid the breathtaking landscapes of Sabi Sands and combines exceptional service with a superb safari experience - what could be better? If you like to keep yourself close to the ground and the passing wildlife, you'll enjoy Safari Lodge - with treehouse inspired rooms and suites, all with private decks. Where do I begin to tell you about our once in a lifetime stay at Ulusaba!? We are a well travelled couple with the privilege to stay in the most wonderful resorts and hotels around the world. Ulusaba was incredible and then some. Let me say that it is a different style of holiday, if you are used to lounging beach holidays or busy sightseeing touristy destinations, Ulusaba is not either of these! Your mornings start with a wake up call at 0530 to get you ready for the early Game Drive. Stroll up to the main house where you’ll be greeted by your Ranger with a coffee and muffin before you set off. The drives are magic.. you never know what you’ll stumble across. In one drive, Lions, Leopards, Giraffes, Black Rhino, Hippos, Zebra, Elephants and plenty more! Once you’re back, chill out in the Lodge or your room and take in the view. Be ready by 1530 for your next drive! With a magic sunset stop with beer, champagne and snacks. Once the afternoon drive is complete, you’ll have a dinner around 2030. I don’t want to spoil it for you.. you just have to come and experience for yourself. A big thank you to all of these wonderful people, Kyle, Connie, Amber, Godfrey, Janine, Danielle, Mpo, Matabo, Sli, Miriam, Patience, Bongi, Admaya and Douglas. Everyone at Ulusaba are special, but these people made it incredible for us. Have a wine tasting with the amazing and knowledgeable Mpo, request Kyle and Connie for your gamedrives (superstars), nothing is too hard for Amber, Godfrey, Janine and Danielle.. they are always listening and have ears everywhere .. they make magic happen! Matabo and Sli are a must in the spa, Miriam always made our room look beautiful, and you’ll always get a smile a meal times with Patience, Bongi, Admaya and Douglas. We can’t fault Ulusaba, make sure you stay in both Rock and Safari Lodges. Safari you’ll hear the magic sounds of the animals at night (yes a Lion was calling right outside our room in the wee hours) and we had Elephants walk up to our balcony. Rock you’ll take in the breathtaking view and see the Zebras, Giraffe and Elephants roaming Sabi Sands. Room recommendation, get one with a Plunge pool! Read less

Wow, where to even start! We visited Safari Lodge for 4 nights as part of our covid-delayed honeymoon and it was more than we could have ever dreamt of. I'll start with the lodge and setting - the quality is like no other we're experienced (done 3 safaris before). From the beautiful rooms looking out into the Bush, the in-room amenities, snacks, mini-bar to the stunning communal areas. Every inch is luxury yet, in-keeping with the environment. And the location? Just wow. We were lucky enough to have a river room with plunge pool, so every day we walked over the famous rope bridge - spotting monkeys, antelope and warthogs. You feel privileged to be able to share your accommodation with such beautiful wildlife. I can't talk about the lodge without mentioning the absolutely incredible staff - particularly Mpo, Geoffrey, Amber and Sam who made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and you left feeling like you had made real friends. The food was also out of this world! We ate and drank like royalty! Lastly... The drives. Just, wow. The quality and variety of every drive was out of this world - there is nothing quite like watching these beautiful animals in their natural environment. Steve and James were inspiring to watch - their talent and understanding of these animals was a joy to experience as they tracked prides of lions and leopards through the wildest landscapes. We saw it all! Ulusaba will forever hold a special place in our hearts and we hope to be lucky enough to return one day. Read less

We stayed in an Elephant room & were very pleased with our beautiful room, although we only saw 1 elephant cross directly in front of our room...no guarantees & many other elephant viewings during our 4 night stay. The room has a large bar stocked with anything imaginable, including champagne. The deck was a nice size but could use a little maintenance. Also, the bathroom could use a definite update with some new tile floors. As this was our first time safari, we were very impressed & so excited to see all the animals in their natural environment. We also had the wonderful surprise of meeting Sir Richard Branson. Very humble for a billionaire! The staff was exceptional & so kind & friendly. They made you feel so welcome. It was a trip of a lifetime & I would highly recommend Ulusaba. Read less

Ulusaba really is a special place. The animal viewing is tremendous. As an example, on two occasions we saw the big 5 on a single drive. The rooms are fantastic, the food excellent, the views amazing and the proximity to the animals special. But the single biggest factor that makes Ulusaba THE standout lodge in Sabi is its people. We have been to Ulusaba on a number of occasions and it is like returning home and meeting up with old friends. The camaraderie between the Rangers and Trackers is all too plain to see, as is the obvious enjoyment and pleasure every member of staff gets from working there. The atmosphere that this creates makes for a wonderful guest experience and interaction. On this visit, we were lucky enough to be superbly looked after by Tom, Sipho, Stuart, Janine, Patience, MPol, Douglas and Bongi. We can’t wait to return next year, the year after, the year after that……….. Thank you guys, yet again it was magical. Angela & Ed Read less
