The hotel

When you arrive at the front of the Soco House, you'll feel like you've been transported to South Beach, where vintage Art Deco architecture meets contemporary sophistication. The white and blue theme gives it a breezy, beach vibe and will have you chilling out on the sand in no time. Positioned in the island's leading tourist location, you've got shops, bars, restaurants and excursions right on the doorstep, but you'll have to drag yourself away from this stylish hotel first. The pool bar is the perfect place to chill with a cocktail, or indulge the senses at the spa with a massage - the choice is yours. The food is nothing short of exceptional, with an intimate vibe in the restaurant that is reflected all over the hotel - this really is the place to be seen this year!

It looked stunning, we had a pool walkout room which had everything needed. All the public areas were well designed and spotlessly clean. Yes the was often a wait for meals in the restaurant but not always. Most of the staff were very friendly, treat them right and they treat you right. Having said that some lacked training. All the bar staff worked very hard, were great at remembering your drinks and had a sense of humour. This is a lovely intimate boutique hotel that has a great friendly vibe, we enjoyed making lots of friends there. There are a few things lacking, one of which is a proper coffee machine, also they could do with some organised activities, as not everyone wants to just flop around the pool. This hotel is one of my favouties and with a few improvements it could be THE favourite Read less

Soco House is a lovely, small, boutique hotel. My Mom, my sister and I had a great experience/time at Soco house Hotel, and we would definitely return. We were treated very well by staff, of course some members of staff are naturally more friendly than others, however no one was rude. Mr Edmund (the manager) is a lovely person. He always greeted us with a smile, and we were made to feel very welcome. Safranz (The Food and Beverage Manager - maybe spelt wrong) was also very, approachable, friendly, and helpful. The rooms are light, spacious, and we were impressed with the standard of cleaning. The housekeepers do an amazing job!!! The food is delicious and the restaurant’s service is À La Carte, which is great. The buffet style routine in other hotels does not appeal to me in the slightest. However, back to Soco House, yes, sometimes we had to wait a short while to receive our order. My family and I would use this time to catch up and talk. It didn’t feel like we were waiting that long.If you have a healthy appetite you can request a double portion, they will happily bring this to you and believe me they are very generous, ask and you shall receive. There are a lot of staff in the restaurant and they work very hard. A special thanks to Jerrell, Clio, Montel, the lady with the green eyes, the man with the light brown eyes, and there were many more. All the Managers/Supervisors were great! as mentioned above, Safranz and the other Managers/Supervisors such as Spencer and the friendly women who usually worked in the evening. The Lucian breakfast and pancakes and syrup were our usual choices. Some of our other favourite dishes were the saltfish fritters, curry goat, lamb, curry shrimp, catch of the day, lamb pie, all of which is usually accompanied by fresh veg or/and rice - delicious. We also met the chef/s and cheekily requested some of our favourite dishes which were provided. The beach is literally a 2-3 minutes walk away. The hotel provides towels and a cool box. The cool box is a very good idea, and we were able to order all the drinks we required daily. The beach experience is enhanced by the brilliant work of Shaun and his colleague (I can’t recall the young man’s name, but he was great - a very hard worker). Shaun is one of the most friendliest people we met on the Island, he always met you with a smile. He would see my family and I walking on the beach, and before we even got to the designated spot, our beach chairs, etc, were set up. They even go out their way to adjust the umbrellas for shade dependent on the movement of the sun, rain, and if required, remove them to ensure you are able to have a clear view of the sunset. It was clear that Shaun had a good rapport with all the guests as I’d see guests engaging with Shaun and also speaking very highly of him and his colleague. Soco house have two excellent employees here, both of whom play a crucial role in customer service - they are fabulous! So to conclude, would we return to Soco House Hotel? Yes, we most certainly would. Read less

Where should I begin, our room was a courtyard room which was comfortable and clean, the shower is extremely powerful which is great, housekeeping a bit hit and miss a couple of times we had to chase up to get our room serviced The hotel itself is very tired and in need of freshening up, all the furnishings need replacing especially in the restaurant and reception areas, tables and chairs rusty Nice pool area, but not enough sun loungers for all guests, the hotel has 10/12 Cabanas around the pool which they should replace with sun loungers and then there would be enough, head to the beach where loungers and umbrellas are provided, you can also request a cool box to take drinks with you which is great, but unfortunately another area they have got wrong is the service is not available until 10:00 hrs, not ideal if you heading off early There is a rooftop bar which unfortunately shuts at 18:00 hrs, a pool bar and an inside bar, the bar staff are great and friendly especially Libert, the drinks doctor The biggest downside to the hotel is the restaurant and the service, which is complete chaos at times, but the management will not accept they have a problem, sometimes you can wait over an hour to be served, some of the waitresses appear to have had minimal training, simple issues that could be addressed like tables having the wrong orders, or getting your food cold and on one occasion receiving your starters and mains at the same time. Generally if you do get your food within a reasonable time it’s very good. The waiting staff do try hard but lack direction and the management don’t seem to care, the general manager Edmond appears blind to all the failings This could be such a better hotel if small but fixable issues were addressed Read less

Taking into consideration that it's a relatively new hotel and still experiencing teething problems, it still has a way to go to have a higher rating from us. The main disappointment for the entire 7 days was that we had to send our food back due to it being lukewarm, and more regularly cold. In spite of a special note referencing our room number expressing our food to be delivered hot, never a day went by without one meal going back. There was also a shortage of local fruit. The Caribbean flavours were also missing for food and music/cultural entertainment. However the staff were very friendly and accommodating but limited in resourcefulness when confronted with issues, for example there was a shortage of beach/pool towels. The hotel General Manager, Edmund, made an effort to personally know each guest and sought feedback if there were any issues. He was particularly helpful in providing assistance that was not listed as standard, but due to him building a relationship with us during our stay, went beyond expectations. A special mention is also needed for 2 lovely bar tenders, Desma and Kenisha, who surprised us with such a variety of cocktails never before tasted. Read less

On arrival, the reception is stunning. That’s probably where that effect stops. This hotel has, I think, 76 bedrooms. Taking this fact further, there are only 26 ancient - but comfortable- sun loungers. Unfortunately all the loungers surround the bar and not the pool. Surrounding the pool there are 10 Cabanas which can be reserved, at a cost. Like… Read more

Taking this fact further, there are only 26 ancient - but comfortable- sun loungers. Unfortunately all the loungers surround the bar and not the pool. Surrounding the pool there are 10 Cabanas which can be reserved, at a cost. Like most holiday hotels in the sun, loungers start getting reserved at 4 a.m. Bedrooms are comfortable. Bathrooms are ok but lack courtesy robes. Staff are amazing. Food pretty good but more staff needed in this area. Bars run out of some popular drinks. In conclusion, we enjoyed our stay thanks to the great staff. Would we stay there again - NO!! Read less
