PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering

Singapore, Far East

Virgin rating

The hotel

Part hotel, part sculpture, part garden; PARKROYAL on Pickering is an eco-escape in the CBD of one of the world’s most dynamic metropolises. Its sinuous shapes and glorious urban mini-parks led Forbes to name it one of the world’s ‘seven architectural stunners’. And the accolades keep coming, with the World Travel Awards naming it ‘Asia’s Leading Green Hotel’ four years running. It’s not just beautiful on the outside, with its dedicated wellness floor featuring the St. Gregory Spa, a 300-metre garden walk, an al fresco terrace for yoga and meditation, and an infinity pool with birdcage cabanas and Singapore skyline views.

Great rooms with lush rainforest like views. Super comfortable beds, friendly staff, great pool! Will definitely be coming back. They were also very accomodating for my daughter.

Overall it’s a lovely hotel - functionally it has a few serious issues 1. Location- excellent - minutes walk to fascination heritage area and China town, very short taxi ride to most major attractions. I’d stay again for it’s location 2. Check in, quick and painless. 3. First impressions- wow - green gorgeous and innovative as with all good architecture in Singapore 4. Overall room - not quite as big as I thought but attractive, lounge table chair great 5. Bed - delightfully comfy and big feather pillows. Freshly made each other day. 6. Room care - spot on cleaning and refreshing by staff. 7. Extras- and amenities - nice package of extras all the normal stuff but very good quality - lovely hand cream etc which I don’t usually like, very good toothbrush etc. Good hairdryer, towels, pillows, robes, slippers and minibar- you can use mini bar items once for free. 8. Bathroom- here’s where things get a bit rough. I’d say an arts student designed these rooms - with no functionality considered. absolutely zero privacy in any part of the bathroom - visually and audibly - it’s an abject failure. All walls are glass and not floor to ceiling- so imagine trying to be romantic with someone and needing a bathroom break! All the sights and sounds that go with it? Not good, I’ve been married for 30 years and still Dont think I need to hear my husband on the toilet, right? Or he me? The dividing door is Flimsy and does nothing to cut out noise. Blinds Block the view from outside but it’s annoying to have to close them every time you want to go to the bathroom or shower. I hated the bathroom with its silly bath near the window which you couldn’t use unless all blinds were down. 9- lights and aircon - aircon 10/10- lighting pathetic - dark, the bathroom is dreadfully lit and the makeup mirror has no light- with the blinds closed (for privacy it’s impossible) Bathroim lights made me look like a ghoul - and I’m not THAT bad.😄 10. Privacy - WHY am I going on about privacy? Because we had a room facing out but the building is a u shape - we were in the internal side with two walls able to look in on us - worse - much worse - I saw a drone rise up past our window, then go down again to one of the lower rooms, then past all the windows stopping to look in- then up again where it sat looking into our windows only about 4 metres away - we looked back- it sat there for 30 secs and then when I got my phone out it zipped off. Now I’m not prissy bit it’s pretty bad, right? So we went and reported it and…. Nothing. No response. We were told security would look into it, and we know the hotel would have a rough time finding the perp which was a guest in the hotel- but if I was the hotel manager I would have come right up to our room immediately and looked at our photos, apologised and perhaps tried to make amends - or at least pretend to. No mention. Not sure if that’s very professional. So we felt very exposed from then on and unpleasant to have to keep all blinds closed all the time to stop Peeping Tom’s from other rooms and drones. Next time I would request a room on one of the outer sides to prevent the inward facing window problem- If I were hotel staff I would take this invasion of privacy much more seriously. No mention was made of this on checkout which was a bit disappointing- but we were cheekily asked for a review! So here it is. Some flaws- privacy, lighting, bathroom all poor- Security in room, comfort amenities and location all great. You’ll see a photo of the drone just under my room in the first photo. Read less

My wife and I stayed at the ParkRoyal Collection Pickering mid April as part of our anniversary holiday. We saw the building during a previous holiday and was amazed at its architecture and design so booked it for this year. Its location next to Chinatown, Clarke and Boat Quay and the MRT are perfect. The staff were great at all the points we interacted including reception, concierge, and dining including buffet breakfast and pool side. The room itself has a good layout, spacious and well appointed. The exception being for storage space. We ended up mostly “living out of our suitcases” clothes wise as there was not enough storage for clothing to unpack. We had breakfast included and the buffet is very comprehensive catering for Western, Asian and Sub-continent. We tried a lot of different dishes and all were good. Some room service also – basic – but good. Pool is not heated – but the view and the design make you forget that soon enough. Grab a cabana out over the water if you can and relax. Music was a little loud for my liking. Overall a great place to stay. Read less

Except the lady who welcomed us the fisrst day at the front desk reception and tried to fix the hotel problems making us an upgrade for one of the rooms, the services are poor. People serving at the breakfast are rude, arrogant, they make you feel uncomfortable and not welcoming. The check in took too long and destroyed our arrival day, cause we had to wait so long (more than 3h, we got the room late in the evening ) that we could not respect our plan and see the Gardens by the Bay in the first day. After visiting Asia for 2 weeks and staying only in 5 stars hotels we found the room basic and not practical at all. Also the smell was pretty unpleasant from humidity and mold. No Netflix or music channels. No shampoo or shower gel near the bathtub, we had welcoming fruits obly in one room they forgot to put the basket in the second one. They forgot to clen one of the roomd. The coffee machine was not working, they solved the problem too late, after 1 day. The only things we liked: the pool, the view, the arhitecture of the hotel overall ( not in the room though), the beds. I think the hotel is more for business persons and less for people looking to enjoy Asia and relax in a lush and cozy space. Read less

We love the architecture of this hotel, loved the garden walk, and loved the pool. Amazing Front Desk with Raphael and Faustine who were warm and just so thoughtful. Will definitely stay here again ♥️
