There are no rooms! Every guest gets a studio or apartment – the convenience of a residence with the luxury of hotel service. The Mondrian South Beach is a curved piece of Modernist architecture with an interior designed by controversial Marcel Wanders. The style is definitely post Minimalist with a sophisticated colour palette of gold, black and white. With his trademark chandeliers throughout, comfort in the sensual sense is given centre stage inside and out. The huge pool with private cabanas and individual plunge pools, surrounded by a lush garden, lounge areas, secret pathways and kissing areas is definitely not your average pool. The setting is straight out of CSI Miami, the silhouette of downtown Miami is behind the expansive blue waters of Biscayne Bay. Because it faces west it also has the sunsets; best watched with a mojito in hand from the bayside bar or private rooftop bar.

TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
This was our second time Mondrian and for the most part it didn't disappoint. The location is great because you are away from the crowds and tourists on collins and ocean drive. It's a great place to... Read more relax at the pool and just enjoy yourself. David, the pool manager(I think) is one of the nicest and coolest person you'll ever meet in SB. Goes out of his way to make you feel special and that means something. The only issues we had were the fire alarm going off for 30 min on Sunday morning and our AC going out. After placing a call to the front desk, our AC was fixed in 30 min. Just very weird because the same thing happened to us last year. Oh well, not the end of the world. I would probably stay here again without hesitation! Good people! I also didn't find their prices to be any different than any other pool scene across the country. And the food was excellent by the way! Read less
when I first got to the hotel I was taken back by the ultra trendy decor of the lobby. The pool area was was cool although the service was a bit slow. the food was a bit pricey but that is to be... Not many shops around west avenue and may need to catch a taxi to get to the main shopping area. Would stay again. Read less
If you're looking for 5 star luxury, this isn't your hotel. The rooms are clean and we paid extra for a bay view suite but the entire hotel still falls short - Especially in small details. TV and air... Read more conditioning didn't work in our room. The hotel sent someone to take a look at it but these two items were never really fixed. We suggested that they transfer us to a new room but they insisted for us to stay in the room that we were already assigned to. Any other hotel would've given a free upgrade! I must add - Dave at the pool was amazing. Best service in all of Miami. Very attentive and thoughtful. Although the pool view is beautiful at this hotel, next time we'll stay at the Delano. One of my favorite hotels that I stayed in so far! The hotel design is very art deco and modern, clean white design with black accents and interesting artworks both through the hotel as well as... Read more in the rooms! The service was impeccable from the minute we stepped out of the taxi to the last point when we checked out. The room was beautifully designed, specious and comfortable, with a low bed, cool overlay yellow wall mirrors and cute dining table and kitchenette. The shower had a chandelier as the shower head with an interesting large sink design and full floor to ceiling mirror inside the glass shower. I normally use my own toiletries but have to say that I tried the Mondrian toiletries and loved them! The only one little negative thing about the room was the air conditioner, which was housed in a small closet but was somewhat loud, so we would turn it off during the night. The breakfast was really good, with a small but diverse menu. There was a-la-carte as well as a buffet option with a patio overlooking the pool and the bay. I had the lemon tart pancakes, which were to die for! The bar inside serves mean Martinis (passion fruit martini was AMAZING) and also has gorgeous views of the pool and the bay, where you can watch the sunset. The # 1 thing to do at the Mondrian (the hotel is known for it) is to watch the sunset at around 7pm onwards by the pool ... the view is one of the most beautiful views that I have ever seen! (see pictures). One note to that is the hotel does not have beach access but it is about 10-15 min. walk to the beach. Finally, on Sundays, the Mondrian pool party is REALLY happening!!! The DJ was really good, the bar has great drinks and the atmosphere is fashionable but laid back, loved it!!! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay here again in heartbeat! We stayed here for 3nights on the second leg of our American honeymoon and we wish we hadn't bothered. We seldom give poor reviews of places we've stayed in the states but we can safely say that we... Read more will not be returning to the Mondrian. We certainly do not expect any star treatment but considering this was our honeymoon and that the hotel knew this at least 9months prior to arrival, the staff did nothing to make us feel that this trip was a special one. We were situated in a room that didn't have a pool or Biscayne bay view but one of the car park and external sitting area which was regularly used as the communal smoking ground for staff and guests. The website claims luxury but this is far from it, the rooms are clean but are not wow, the staff service is slow and in our experience, non responsive on several occasions. The location is good but we'd certainly stay closer to the beach when we return. This stay was one we looked forward to for sometime and once it arrived, it was a complete let down.
