There are no rooms! Every guest gets a studio or apartment – the convenience of a residence with the luxury of hotel service. The Mondrian South Beach is a curved piece of Modernist architecture with an interior designed by controversial Marcel Wanders. The style is definitely post Minimalist with a sophisticated colour palette of gold, black and white. With his trademark chandeliers throughout, comfort in the sensual sense is given centre stage inside and out. The huge pool with private cabanas and individual plunge pools, surrounded by a lush garden, lounge areas, secret pathways and kissing areas is definitely not your average pool. The setting is straight out of CSI Miami, the silhouette of downtown Miami is behind the expansive blue waters of Biscayne Bay. Because it faces west it also has the sunsets; best watched with a mojito in hand from the bayside bar or private rooftop bar.

I was at the Mondrian visiting because I purchased a massage voucher online. I must say that the hotel is beautiful and every person was very professional. It was a well managed hotel. A+++. The spa... Read more was magnificent. I am from the Dominican republic, and I have never seen a spa like this. Vita the manager at the spa was very accommodating with satisfying my requests. She went above and beyond for my wife and I. The deep tissue massage was amazing. The spa was very relaxing and the pool was beautiful. I will definitely be back again and definitely recommend. Did a site inspection here during my time in Miami. I was definitely impressed with what this hotel has to offer! The pool and grounds are amazing, with beautiful and tranquil luxury. We toured the... Read more city view room and the balcony rooms along with having a cabana for the day. I would definitely suggest the balcony room, the views were fabulous. Although we got stuck in an elevator during the tour, I look forward to putting guests here the next time I send someone to Miami! Read less
The Mondrian has style, for sure, but substance is another matter. You come for the view, and that is spectacular, especially if you get a balcony room (which is worth it). You come for the pool... Read more , which is also spectacular with great service and yummy frozen drinks. The Mondrian staff members are very nice across the board. But, with just a little bit of attention, the hotel could be so, so much better: room service menu is extremely limited after breakfast, there are no dresser drawers for anything, the pillows are not high quality, and the bed, while a pillowtop, is not that comfortable. The kitchen was great but there are no dishes or silverware. We had great sushi at the pool in the afternoon but very unremarkable spicy tuna sushi in the restaurant for dinner (which is not a happening place but still enjoys a great staff). Tips: call for extra hangers and use the closet space; bring a hangup toiletry kit to hang on the hooks in the bathroom; eat downstairs and bring some dishes/silver up to your room to use while you are there! Also, it was noisy on the weekend nights, so bring a white noise machine or load an app onto your phone. And don't be afraid to call the Front Desk and ask for Security to deal with excessive situations. Current construction on West Avenue prevented us from knowing, until the final day, that The Mondrian is situated in a great little neighborhood. Walk south out the front door, and in a block, you will see the ubiquitous Starbucks, but go a step further to the Coral Cafe if you want something really special. They do a great breakfast and cuban coffee but also a great Cuban sandwich. It's a quaint cafeteria sort of style, but you call all the shots in terms of substitutions and how you want things cooked. People couldn't be nicer at The Coral Cafe. Also of note, a Whole Foods and Walgreens a block away. Convenient for sure. The Mondrian guests were a mix of couples, wedding parties with multiple generations, and families with young children. Read less
