There are no rooms! Every guest gets a studio or apartment – the convenience of a residence with the luxury of hotel service. The Mondrian South Beach is a curved piece of Modernist architecture with an interior designed by controversial Marcel Wanders. The style is definitely post Minimalist with a sophisticated colour palette of gold, black and white. With his trademark chandeliers throughout, comfort in the sensual sense is given centre stage inside and out. The huge pool with private cabanas and individual plunge pools, surrounded by a lush garden, lounge areas, secret pathways and kissing areas is definitely not your average pool. The setting is straight out of CSI Miami, the silhouette of downtown Miami is behind the expansive blue waters of Biscayne Bay. Because it faces west it also has the sunsets; best watched with a mojito in hand from the bayside bar or private rooftop bar.

TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
This seemed like a good choice going by the ad's promo & on what other reviews had to say & I always read the reviews! The very First review squashed it from the get go but after ten other 'much... Read more better' reviews I was leaning for it now. However, I'm told when something looks too good to be true it most likely isn't true! Why do the promoters offer gold when after reading the fine print of the establishment it turns out to be silver? The so called 'Specials' of up to 80% lower rates don't pan out or in other words are just a 'come on' because you get hit & hit hard with 'Daily Fees'! Some of which include; Parking, Wifi, Extra Towels, Pillows or Slippers, Room Safe, Iron, Iron Board, Interpreter & Daily Fee Fees! Really? Really! I think you get the picture & I know most of these may be legit & fairly acceptable but pleeeeez, don't double, triple or even try to quadruple them & insult my intelligence because I'm an 'outer towner'. Unfortunately the hotel is definitely lacking good management. On first night the room safe was not working but they kindly arranged for me to use one of their safe deposit boxes. Front desk maned... Read more by one person only, no one at concierge and when you ask for something is as if you spoke to brick wall. I extended by room until 8pm and paid $205 extra for this. My room was not cleaned in the morning. I called housekeeping who said they will arrange for some new towels and also spoke to front desk, with a senior manager hearing the conversation, requesting new towels etc and they said they will do straightaway. When I returned 2 hours later still nothing !! as if I spoken to myself. Also on arrival was told about breakfast but then they arranged to charge USD25 per person for the worst choice of breakfast I have seen in a hotel. No slippers (had to call for one) and extremely cheap quality robe. How this hotel is classed as 4* is beyond me. Trust me use your money more wisely in another hotel. Read less
I was lucky enough to spend a few nights here to relax and have fun. The front desk was welcoming and kind. Our room was spacious and fun with my favorite Malin+Goetz body products. The pool, of... Read more course, was the main event and the Mondrian clearly ordered the perfect weather for my friends and I to soak up the sun and sip on cocktails. I would stay here three times over. We stayed at the Mondrian for a weekend before heading to Mexico. I go to Miami once a year and stayed in many SOBE hotels and Mondrian, for me, is on the top 3 favorites. I really liked the... Read more design of the hotel. The room was spacious and had a cool retro vibe. The pool is nice with wonderful views of the city and awesome sunsets. In case you aren’t aware this hotel is not on the beach but the beach isn’t far. Walking distance to Lincoln Road. I enjoyed the fact that the hotel is secluded. I would chose this location again over ocean drive in a heartbeat. Staff and service was very good and attentive. For the short stay we spent there it was wonderful. I would stay here again when in Miami. Read less
