Where is it

In the Raa Atoll, this 20 hectare island is surrounded by 1.5km of soft sand. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 40 minutes by seaplane (remember to pack light for the seaplane transfer as luggage allowance is 20kg plus 5kg hand luggage, per person).

Hotel information

120 villas (60 beach villas and 60 water villas). All with air-conditioning and ceiling fans, flatscreen TV, WiFi, tea/coffee-making facilities, daily refreshed mini-bar, walk-in and al fresco ‘under the stars’ showers, two-person bathtub, walk-in closet, hairdryer, bathrobes and safe. Beach Villas are 176m2, and have a private garden, covered and open patios with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults or 2 adults and 1 child.

Deluxe All-Inclusive: includes breakfast (at Aqua), lunch (at Aqua and Beach Club Grill), and dinner (at Aqua, Beach Club Grill, and at La Asiatique and Amazònico with reservation required), plus snacks (at Sunset Bar Living & Pool Area); set menus are included (additional menu choices available at a supplement). Room service available at a supplement. Mini-bar including selected wines, beers, soft drinks, in-house bottled water, and snacks (refilled once daily). Selected Super-Premium branded drinks, including spirits, international beers, international wines, and unlimited cocktails and signature drinks, plus soft drinks including in-house mineral water. Complimentary birthday and wedding anniversary cakes (on advance notice). High-speed WiFi, snorkelling equipment, use of fitness centre, indoor games, non-motorised water sports (lessons at a supplement), marine biologist and water sports team presentations, nightly entertainment in main bar (Mon-Sat), weekly ‘Bodu Beru’ Maldivian dance performance, weekly Management cocktail. Jacuzzi Beach Villas are 176m2, and have a 2m2 metre Jacuzzi, private garden, covered and open patios with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults or 2 adults and 1 child.

Beach Villas with Pool are 187m2, and have a private 5x3 metre pool, private garden, covered and open patios with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults or 2 adults and 1 child.

Family Beach Villas with Pool are 280m2, and have a private 8x3 metre pool, private garden, covered and open patios, master bedroom with king-size bed, children’s bedroom (twin beds) and bathroom, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 child.

Superior Beach Villas with Pool are 280m2, and have a private 8x3 metre pool, private garden, covered and open patios, lounge, master bedroom, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 child.

Royal Beach Villa is 900m2, is set over two floors, and has a unique indoor/outdoor 10x4 metre pool, private garden, covered and open patios, gazebo, lounge with private bar and kitchen, 3 en suite bedrooms with closets (one also featuring a massage area and lounge), and 3 king-size beds, sleeping maximum 8 adults or 4 adults and 4 child.

Water Villas are 168m2, are located on the pier overlooking the sea, and have a patio over the sea, bedroom with walk-in closet, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Jacuzzi Water Villas are 168m2, and have a 2m2 Jacuzzi, patio over the sea, bedroom with walk-in closet, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Water Villas with Pool are 184m2, and have a private 5x3 metre pool, patio over the sea, bedroom with walk-in closet, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Superior Water Villas with Pool are 310m2, and have a private 8x3 metre pool, patio over the sea, lounge, bedroom with walk-in closet, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 4 adults.

Presidential Water Villa is 640m2, sits at the end of the pier, and has a private 10x4 metre pool, patio overlooking the reef, lounge with private bar and kitchen, 2 bedrooms with walk-in closets, and 2 king-size beds, sleeping maximum 6 adults.

The Maldives was my wife's dream vacation spot. Though a bit pricey and quite a distance away, we decided to make it a reality and it was 100% worth it. The atmosphere, ambiance, overall spirit of this island is something that yields no comparison anywhere else in the world. The food, prepared by the talented Chef Aldo, (who of which went out of his way to serve us the best lobster we ever had because we were going to miss an event for it as we had to leave) was consistently tasty. The fruits were top notch, as expected for a tropical island but yet, it's good to know that the produce is well cared for. Surprisingly, there's 120 villas, and when we stayed, the resort was at 90% capacity. It's surprising due to the fact that we barely saw the other guests staying there. Besides the restaurants, which weren't very crowded to begin with, the island feels very secluded. The villas are up-kept so well, ours in particular was kept tidy and decorated nicely by Naeem. He went above and beyond for our honeymoon. Speaking of honeymoon, we were given a fantastic honeymoon dinner at the beach. Loki, Rahul, and Vikas made sure we had everything we could ever want for the dinner, keeping us entertained, taking pictures, and making sure we enjoyed our meals. The staff were accommodating and friendly. Most notably, Naresh, Nitin, and Peria catered to our wants over food and drinks. They were always so welcoming and fun to talk to. The island is good size, with enough activities to do throughout the day, simple to navigate yet vast and a beautiful walk around. With all the included amenities, attention to detail, etc., it truly exceeded our expectations. Our hotel manager Faya made sure we were very comfortable and worry free. For example, we had a late flight departure back home and he was able to place us in a villa to relax in until closer to our flight time. My husband and I stayed at Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa for two weeks in the summer for the most amazing honeymoon we could have wished for, we didn’t want to come home! From start to finish the experience was 5*! The food was incredible. The staff in every restaurant were so helpful and friendly. The quality of food was amazing and the dishes that were created for us in Asiatique in particular were some of the best dishes we have ever eaten! We also really loved the Amazonico restaurant and the jungle setting, it was so beautiful and really felt like we were back in Brazil! Our room was stunning and I particularly loved the outdoor shower in the very hot evenings! Waking up to a beautiful beach right outside the room felt like a dream. The lovely man that cleaned our room couldn’t have been more helpful! We were surprised with a rose petal bath and a beautifully decorated bed to celebrate our honeymoon. We loved cycling around the stunning island and snorkelling to enjoy the amazing sea life. The colour of the sea and the sand were so beautiful it didn’t feel real! We also experienced an incredible honeymoon dinner on the beach which really made was the best experience. We would like to give a special mention to all of the lovely staff at the resort. Every single person was so welcoming and friendly and made our stay unforgettable. Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa is a place we will never forget. Everything great that you’ve read about this resort is true. As I was reading all the reviews while trying to choose a resort as a first time visitor to the Maldives, I was sceptical that it could possibly live up to the accolades. It did! It is pure bliss due to the location, accomodation, the food at the restaurants, tasting wines from around the world recommended by the sommelier ( thanks Jeewana), drinks from the bar and the underwater entertainment thanks to the myriad of stunning tropical fish doing their thing on the reef. We chose a beach villa with pool which was private and within steps to the aqua sea. ALL staff are professional and friendly. We enjoyed chatting with every staff member we came across. One in particular I would like to mention is Nitin who looked after us at Aqua. A young man full of enthusiasm, intelligence and professionalism who I believe will be very successful in life. There are plenty of activities available but we chose to snorkel at the reef in front of Aqua, enjoy the delicious food from the restaurants, read books have a cocktail now and then and purely enjoy the art of doing nothing.
