This was a fairly last minute change to a long planned trip and an unexpected visit to Mauritius. As others have said this is a modest scale and quiet hotel for adults only...which we had not realised but actually having visited the sister hotel on the courtesy bus were very happy with...we are definitely past screaming children. We chose to eat as often as possible in the Aqua restaurant, by the beach and bar , rather than the main buffet dining room. The food was better and the general atmosphere better than the larger main dining room which we used for breakfast and lunch. There was a good range of food and the deserts were just beautiful. The food there was ok but...just not as good as the smaller restaurant. Our first floor room overlooked the beach (well the single storey hotel rooms in front of our room) and was absolutely fine...we had sliding doors to open but the balcony was only about 1 foot deep (not really a balcony) so not able to get outside. The room was fine apart from an extraordinarily tall bed.. and a picture where headboard should have been which was not tall enough.I am tall and had to climb up onto the bed...also the wardrobe was not long enough to hang a dress in....irritating but not crucial to my week...also no iron in the room...to iron the creased dresses!. The staff were very helpful and really could not have done more i think. It was a lovely beach with plenty of sun beds in the sun and shade but sadly the area roped off for swimming mostly had weed/grass on the bottom which i hate so i did not go swimming. I had hoped to paddleboard but it was mostly too rough for a beginner. The sister hotel had a much larger distance to the surrounding reef with calmer waters and no grass/weed which would have been better for that activity and swimming for me at least. Whilst at the hotel we did not see anyone do anything other than snorkel so if watersports are your thing i am not sure this is the right hotel...it lies quite close to the reef so the water is a bit choppy and actually you are discouraged for obvious reasons for getting to close to the reef. The pool was gorgeous but could have been deeper and i really couldnt believe that people were reserving sun loungers before breakfast! my lack of organisation clearly. We used the taxi service located by the hotel entrance to book a couple of tours and were really pleased with these....Neel our guide/driver was brilliant and told us sooo much about Mauritius so we had two really fun days as well as learning a lot about the local culture and people. Would absolutely recommend these. Not sure that the rooftop bar really was open...we used it twice for a cooking demo and cocktail lesson...but apart from that it appeared generally to be closed...pity. Probably wouldnt stay again because of the lack of weed free swimming/activities in the sea, but if you want a quiet, relaxed child free stay.... Read less

Tip - wear water shoes and go for it! learnt to snorkel and its amazing the fish you can see! hotel loans items out if you haven't taken your own. entertainment. very low key - if you want fire and brimstone, go elsewhere but we loved it - bar closes at 11pm but honestly if you havnt drunk enough by then..... taxi rank at the hotel will take you anywhere, including trips to other islands and beaches, payable direct i think. sister hotel, transport is free and you can go as many times as you wish - worth a look around and also if A.I the same at that hotel. but it does have children, so if you want peace stay put lol we would deffo recommend this hotel for peace, friendly 1st visit to the island. it had everything and more for us! Thankyou to all the staff, you made our holiday....along with the weather, hotel, beach, food...ect Read less

I have just arrived back from a 10 night stay. Overall the hotel was ok. Not the best place to stay & definitely would NOT stay there again. My main issue with the hotel was the food!! . The hygiene of the food is very poor. There is no covers to cover the food so all the cheese, fruit, salad etc were in the open, there was often a lot of fruit flies on them!! Every time I had a food from the buffet I was ill in the night vomiting & diarrhoea. I spoke to many couples during our stay who also experienced the same thing. They have an another restaurant on the beach front which is slightly better but not much!! I had an AL package but half of the stuff on the menu is not included on the packag and you had to pay an uplift. I paid enough for the holiday .. why wasn’t this made clear upon booking? The hotel also advertises a “roof top bar”. I can assure you it is no where near a roof top bar. It’s a shack made out of wood with bottles of vodka. There is no sufficient seating area, its bean bags on the sand? It’s also not on the roof? It was extremely disappointed with this as this was one of the features that stood out. Despite being an all inclusive package, if you wanted to have tapas from the “roof top bar” you had to pay a premium that’s if the bar was open, it advertises every evening 4pm until 9pm. It was open twice when I was there. A couple we met also said that they waited up there for an hour one evening and no body showed so they went down to the buffet to say they were up there and they were told they needed to pay to be there. Very unpleasant, unprofessional and mis leading! When I visited the sister hotel all their food was in fridges, when I ate there I had no stomach issues in the evening. If they can cover the food in the sister hotel, why can’t they do it in this one? The pool was lovely, beach was good, plenty selection of sun beds. The hotel advertised water sports however for the full 10 days there they said the weather was too dangerous to go into the sea .. so we went and brought our own snorkels and did it ourselves. I just think they can’t be bothered. The other issue with this hotel is the lack of undercover seating. If it rains (which is did for 3 nights) there’s no where to go at all. I didn’t go on holiday to sit in my room? Overall the hotel was ok, I still enjoyed my holiday however the hotel did drastically let it down. I would not return. Read less

My wife and I recently spent a week at the Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Resort and Spa during our trip to Mauritius, and our stay was a mixed bag of delightful experiences and some disappointments. The Good: Service Excellence: From the moment we arrived until our departure, the service at Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Resort and Spa was consistently top-notch. The staff members went out of their way to ensure our comfort and satisfaction, making us feel truly welcomed throughout our stay. Delectable Desserts: The pastry chef at the resort deserves special commendation. The desserts served were nothing short of exquisite, leaving us craving for more after every meal. Exceptional Ala Carte Dining: We found the ala carte restaurant to be a culinary highlight of our stay. The food was exceptionally tasty, showcasing both local flavors and international cuisine with finesse. Outstanding Facilities: The resort boasts excellent facilities, including a pristine pool, inviting pool deck, and a beautiful beach with well-maintained facilities, providing guests with ample opportunities for relaxation and recreation. The Bad: Cramped Rooms: One notable downside was the cramped accommodations. The rooms were surprisingly small, which detracted from our overall comfort during the stay. Awkward Bed Design: Additionally, the beds were mounted on oddly high bases, posing a challenge for my pregnant wife to comfortably climb onto them, which was a significant inconvenience. Underwhelming Buffet Experience: While the ala carte restaurant shone, the main buffet restaurant left much to be desired. The food was average at best, and themed nights lacked authenticity, often serving the same dishes under different titles. Limited Watersports Activities: The boat house offerings were disappointingly limited, with only kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and snorkeling available. Compared to other resorts, the variety of watersports activities was notably lacking. Scant Entertainment Options: While there was nightly music, the daytime activities left much to be desired, with a lack of engaging options. Furthermore, the cancellation of planned activities without prior notice was frustrating and poorly managed. Noisy Air Conditioning: The air conditioning unit in our room was disappointingly loud, making it challenging to sleep peacefully. The constant noise disrupted our rest, detracting from the overall comfort of the accommodation. Mold Concerns: Furthermore, we were dismayed to discover evidence of mold in our room. This not only raised hygiene concerns but also diminished the overall appeal of the living space. Shower Issues: The shower in the bathroom presented another inconvenience, as it struggled to regulate temperature effectively. Water from the shower head oscillated abruptly between freezing cold and scalding hot within seconds, making it difficult and uncomfortable to shower under such erratic conditions. Overall Impression: The Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Resort and Spa offers a pleasant stay with excellent service, delectable dining options, and superb facilities. However, shortcomings such as cramped rooms, limited activities, inconsistent entertainment, noisy air conditioning, mold concerns, and temperature regulation issues detract from its overall appeal. With some improvements in these areas, the resort has the potential to provide an even more memorable experience for its guests. Read less

Initially we were placed in a room on the second line across the road. The room faced a mobile radio tower and was located on top of the storage room, which resulted into significant noise in the early morning. Moreover, the room wasn‘t sound proof at all, so also traffic and conversations of the neighbors could be heard easily. On top there was mold in several places in the bathroom and in the room, including furniture and stool cushions. This wasn’t at all what we expected for our vacation. However, after complaining we got a smaller but quieter room with a nice view of the ocean. Though the bathroom situation didn‘t improve, the overall situation was better. We booked full board and breakfast was well as dinner was splendid with a large variety of food choices. Unfortunately the selection choices at noon were much more limited. All in all the very friendly and helpful staff left us with an overall good impression of our stay in the hotel, despite the above mentioned downsides. Our special thanks go to Daniela, Raul, Tisha and divemaster Curtis and his team. Read less
