The hotel

All-suite and all-inclusive, the Ravenala Attitude is styled in contemporary, colonial and tropical hues. With an open-plan, no boundaries design, the restaurants and bars flow seamlessly towards the pool, gardens and beach beyond. But it’s not all about appearances — it goes deeper. Its ‘Culinary Voyage’ takes you from Asia to Italy in nine restaurants, six of which you can sample as part of your All-Inclusive package. You can tuck into 'Granmamas' Mauritian fare at Kot Nou, street-food takeaways on the beach at Taba-J, and enjoy the romance of the floating Riviera restaurant. The kids' clubs provide various fun activities, whilst the Sport Village and Boat House offer endless diversions, from kayaking along Rivière Citron to riverbank yoga. And the hotel's ‘Otentik’ concept gives you a true insight into Mauritius, in cookery classes, local music, a self-guided tours app, and a weekly ‘Otentik Bazar’, with all profits from the ‘made in Mauritius’ goodies going to the craftspeople. You can even dine on ‘Otentik Dinners’ with locals in their homes. This charming resort is great for families, with large rooms and a range of activities, whilst couples will love staying in the Executive Seafront Adult Suites in the adults-only section.

TV in room that doesn’t work with zero English channels. Air conditioning unit which leaked all over my MacBook which is now broken. Moldy cheese at buffet. Have to call reception 5 times to get anything done. No coffee or tea or stocked minibar in room, they say it’s “eco” but you have to go and collect from their shop everyday if you want coffee or tea. It’s absolutely shocking. Even at a 2 star motel you get coffee and tea in your rooms. The service at all the restaurants is poor to say the least. The servers are coughing constantly, no one seems to worry about personal hygiene while handling food. I’m horrified that this place charges 4-star rates for what I experienced. Unprofessional & low quality service. Read less

We (family of 4, children ages 7 & 4) stayed for 12 nights in April 2024. Amazing family friendly hotel, we couldn’t have chosen better if we tried. It isn’t one of those hotels where you feel you have to shush your children constantly & apologise for them as there were ample places for them to play & so many other family’s around with young children. However the atmosphere of the hotel was still very upmarket & wasn’t affected by it being so busy with families they obviously work very hard to keep it so beautiful. There was also an adults only section so presumably anyone who wants to avoid children would stay in this area. The beach activities included were amazing, our daughter loved paddle boarding & we took the glass bottom boat ride which we were very lucky & spotted dolphins! Can’t rate the kids club high enough, the ladies were so lovely & the activities were varied. They have a weekly schedule so you can pick & choose when you want to send your kids depending on which activities they want to take part in & no need to book. Both our children loved going & this meant we could enjoy a bit of down time to relax child free. Restaurant highlight was Lime (adults only & with a small supplement) however it was well worth it, it was our 10 year wedding anniversary & they arranged a lovely table set up & a bottle of wine & cake. The waiter was also brilliant & couldn’t do enough. We booked the catamaran trip via the hotel which we loved & was a full day out, we would recommend this trip. Only disappointment was the restaurant booking desk, we arrived on our first day only to be told we couldn’t book for the restaurants for another 3 days, we paid for 12 days so I struggle to understand why we shouldn’t be allowed to eat in our chosen restaurants from the onset. The lady on the desk was quite unhelpful and we seemed to bother her with our presence. We explained it was our daughter’s birthday 2 days in & after quite a fraught conversation & a telephone call she agreed to book us in at la tavola! Maybe this rubbed her up the wrong way but every other occasion after this she was quite rude to us to the point it put us off booking restaurants as the only way to do it was via the desk. Also strangely the resultants never seemed full which confused us as we struggled to book due to availability - this wasn’t enough to downgrade our rating of the hotel as even with this it was still an amazing holiday!! Pool waiter was also fantastic & always made sure we had everything we need drinks wise. Read less
