We have just arrived home after a fantastic stay at the VPB. We flew from heathrow terminal four with air Mauritius. Air Mauritius were brilliant.Friendly staff, plenty of leg room and all drinks were... Read more free including alchoholic drinks if wanted. Picked up from the very modern clean and efficient airport in Mauritius by taxi. Nice drive to hotel with the friendly driver giving us a guided tour as we went. Arrived at VPB and greeted by friendly staff with drink and warm towels on arrival and guided tour around the complex. Then shown to our lovely large clean room with nice cold aircon, you will definately need to use that while staying. Mini bar checked and filled everyday free of charge if needed. Our maid Devaynee, may have spelt this wrong, kept our room spotless and us amused with amazing towel sculptures. We always found something to eat in the restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner. Waiters and waitresses are all very friendly,Steeve was our main waiter and always made us laugh and looked after us. The resaurant is very clean and was fogged regulary during the morning for flies and mosquitos etc so we never had a problem. Lots of activites around the pool, aqua zumba, volleyball, diving tuition. You can join in if you want or just watch. It never interfered with the general quiet chilled out atmosphere around the pool. Plenty of sunbeds and cushions around the pool and within a few feet of the pool is the beach which also has plenty of beds. The waters lovely and clear and warm but make sure you wear jellie shoes or sand shoes in the water because of sea urchins, although we never had a problem with them as they are easily seen.Canoes and peddelows are on the beach and you just jump in them and go have fun,no charge. We got the local bus, number 82 to Port Louise from the bus stop right outside the hotel for thirty one rupees each which took you straight into Port Louise bus station. Highly reccommend doing this trip for the experience of mixing with the locals who are all very friendly.Lots in Port Louise to see,Markets,Modern shops Retaurants and harbour.A real buzz about the place. One of the best hotels we have stayed. For its friendly chilled atmosphere, spotlessly clean, lovely well kept gardens, this is a place we will definately return to. Read less

This is the first time I have ever done a review on a holiday and thought I needed to say peace after readying some of the reviews. We booked this holiday to relax and that is what we got and the... Read more hotel was fantastic, we always go to a 5 star hotel so l had my reservations at booking a 3 star hotel but wanted to be able to ditch the long trousers and socks and shoes in the evenings when going for a meal unlike a 5 star hotel and totally chill out. From arrival to being shown to our room along with a brief tour the staff could not have been more friendly, the room was clean but simple the grounds are well maintained and the food fine. We went on holiday for the sun and chill out and the hotel was better than we expected and good value for money, you can use the sandy lane bar and pool even with out upgrading it was quiet and relaxing and l would not hesitate to go back again. If you want 5 star treatment book and pay for a 5 star hotel this hotel is a little haven and could not have offered any more for a totally refreshing holiday, all l can say is thank you to them for a great 2 week holiday. Recently returned from the veranda Pointe aux Biches which I must admit I did have some reservations about after reading the trip advisor reports. So much so did contact our booking agent pre going... Read more . Anyhow all concerns were unfounded. Flights with air Mauritius, which we have used twice before, were good, seats pre booked both ways. Transfer from airport, maybe signage at the airport should be addressed but once found again good service. On arrival greeted with cooling towels and taken to lunch with a complimentary drink and also shown where all is by Veer the manager of the reception. Our room was a family room, lots of space, cleaned daily by a mix of ladies but predominantly Silly, who kept our room spotless and it always smelt fresh. Loved the towel arrangements, many of which made us smile. The gardens are kept well and its a nice short walk to the bar and restaurant areas. Each morning you are greeted with a smile and a good morning or bonjour and plenty of tables to be found or a waiter would find one for you, same at lunch time and evening. A waiter called Steve, is excellent, as are many of his colleagues, Azar, Jeeba (a lady), Mary, the Chef, who is out on the restaurant floor most evenings. We found the food to be good, plenty if choice, fish, meats, even chips if you ask. We also ate at the sandy lane restaurant which is lovely but my husband is quite tall and found the tables too low for comfort so we mainly ate at the main restaurant, but that was our personal choice and opinion. Pascal, our rep for Hayes and Jarvis is a very knowledgeable young man and met us as arranged and if we had any concerns he visited the hotel regularly or could be contacted from reception, this we didn't need to do. Plenty of sun beds on the beach and around the pool. Best bit of advice given to us is to wear jelly shoes when swimming as near the rocks sea urchins. Keep away from the rocks and seems to be okay. These shoes can be bought locally in the hotel shop or just outside the hotel too, cost about £6. Tea and coffee always available at the restaurant and you have fruit juice and water to tied you over in your room if you don't want to pay to use the tea and coffee, all prices are shown clearly. The fogging did happen when we were there quite frequently and thus we didn't have a problem with flies etc, you know when it is going to start as you hear it but it doesn't last long and is effective. Used the laundry service too as didn't want to bring a pile of dirty washing home in November and it is quick, 24 hr turn around, and three loads for RS600, about £12, so well worth it. This is a quiet resort, a good mix of ages and nationalities, which all seen to rub along together very well. Predominantly French, South African and Brits but met some Swedish people too. We used the spa facilities too, spoke with Avinesh who advised the best treatments suitable for what we wanted, lovely situation. No need for the tape of the sea waves, just listen to the real thing! All in all we had a lovely time, lots of good memories, good weather, ate well and met some lovely people both holiday makers and staff alike. If you have concerns when there, tell them about it, light not working for example, tell them about it and they will come and fix all things very quickly. For us a big thank you to all the staff there for making our holiday lovely. You can't please everyone but you did do for us. Thank you. Read less
We went here on our honeymoon in September and although there are some nice elements to this hotel, we've stayed in much better places for less money. The pool area and beach were nice. But our room... Read more (in Sandy Lane) was very basic and needs updating. The food was good but the staff struggled to keep the birds out during breakfast and lunch. Staff were mixed - some were very friendly, some very sullen. We had high hopes for this hotel after reading some of the other reviews but overall we were quite disappointed. Read less
