The hotel

Escape to the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach — this retreat sits next to the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve so is ideal for a bit of walking, cycling or nature viewing. You'll be welcomed by 26-acres of lush landscaping, before the lobby and bar area lure you in with a calm, coastal California chic theme. Next to the lobby bar, the patio has a fire wall and magnificent views of the bay — and those views carry through to many of the guest rooms. Take your pick from three beautiful outdoor pools: chill at the adults-only 'Indulge' pool and find a restful spot at the 'Serenity' pool, or have fun with the kids at the 'Oasis' pool. Whether your passion is shopping, dining, boating, or performing arts, you’ll find it close by. Hit the beach, take to the water on Newport Bay, or wander the shops at Balboa Island and Fashion Island. Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, the Aquarium of the Pacific and Laguna Beach are just a little further away.

The grounds are nice and I like the layout and they have Tesla charging it don’t have any rules around its use. However they place feels, looks and probable was last updated back in the 1979’s. Felt very old and there were at time musty orders in the building Halloween.

After the grand flourish in the front on check in, I was expecting a nice quality room. However, the Lido building is akin to a 60's apartment complex. Second floor small room (no elevator, FYI) was uninspiring in decor, old, and cramped. Self parking ($40.00) was quite a distance away. Luckily there are 3 pool areas to explore and a decent view.… Read more

Second floor small room (no elevator, FYI) was uninspiring in decor, old, and cramped. Self parking ($40.00) was quite a distance away. Luckily there are 3 pool areas to explore and a decent view. As a bonus, there are 2 EV chargers in self park. Overall, the room did not meet expectations in relation to price paid and reputation of Newport Beach. Read less

Room was perfect. Temperature was set perfectly. Bed was great. Room was clean. I had my dog with me and the room was convenient for her to access to outside.

Pools galore! Rooms a bit too spread out. Meeting rooms are fantastic, as is the hot breakfast served at the meeting rooms, Parking fees are totally unreasonable, as forty dollars per day to park your car just adds to the room fee. Also they tack on fifteen dollars for a resort fee on top of parking. The rooms are not large, nor fancy.

The grounds are nice and they have 3 really nice pools one is large enough o do laps in. The rooms are in need of an upgrade. The parking is really far away form the rooms so you are sort of forced to use their valet, which means waiting for them to get your car every time you need it. The customer service could use some improvement. But the… Read more

The parking is really far away form the rooms so you are sort of forced to use their valet, which means waiting for them to get your car every time you need it. The customer service could use some improvement. But the worst part of my stay without a doubt was the bartender. Didn't get his name but he was the tall skinny guy with beard and long shaggy hair and tats all over his body. Incredibly rude and disrespectful guy. I was sitting alone on a barstool with an empty seat on either side of me and he told me to move over in case 2 people come and want to sit together. I told him my wife was due any minute and he was like well until then just move. He also refused to change the TV channel to the Lakers game even though I asked 3 times and I also had to remind him to bring me the water I asked for. I would never stay at this property again due to this very bad and humiliating experience. Read less
