Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa

Palm Springs, California

Virgin rating

The hotel

An oasis in the desert, you’ll find a huge range of things to keep you busy among the Hyatt Regency's 45-acres of perfectly manicured gardens. There’s seven different pools to cool off in, as well as a spa for a little more indulgence. If you’re a golfer, pick from two courses – and a pro can help iron out any kinks in your swing. Travelling with young ones? There are some great kids activities going on, as well as a family pool with a water slide. Maybe something more tranquil? The adults-only pool may be more your style – and maybe a cocktail by the pool at sunset followed by a tender steak.

We stayed for 3 nights over the weekend with 4 adults and 4 kids. The morning of our arrival, I received a text from the hotel saying both our rooms were upgraded to Villas! The Villas were wonderful! They each had a cute little backyard with a hot tub, seating, and a BBQ. The resort wasn’t very busy and there were tons of chairs open at ALL the pools, even the water park. We did rent daybeds and it was nice to have so the kids had a spot to lay down in the shade and take a break. The lazy river was the highlight of the resort, you don’t need to bring your own tubes but if you do, the lifeguards will blow them up for you. There is a CVS vending machine inside the hotel if you end up needing any medicine it has a huge variety and it came in handy for us. Our ONLY complaint was the food options. Breakfast is buffet only. Agave, the lunch/dinner restaurant wasn’t great our first night so we opted to leave the resort for dinner for the rest of our trip. Room service was also a disappointment. There wasn’t any real meals to order, it was just a few pre-packaged things from the grab and go market. The grab and go market was nice to have for random snacks and coffee though! Overall, we all had an amazing time and we will definitely be back! Read less

After waiting over 20 minutes, I had to call and track her down myself. When I spoke to Teyton she was condescending and rude, informing me that no adjustments for the mishandling could be made on the rate in spite us getting put in a room with a bunk bed, and that all she could do was try to get us into a wheelchair accessible king room. I asked Teyton how long before they'd be by to take us to our new room, to which Teyton answered "you're going to have to be patient" and hung up on me. Horrible experience. I will not be returning. Terrible overall experience; malfunctioning TV cable/internet; non functioning bar with very few options; restaurant that was mostly "sold out" of options. Unbelievably bad.

The pool experience with the children was absolutely above and beyond expected. There was quite a lot of construction going on at the hotel which was unannounced to us and was not clearly stated upon check-in, which was a little bit frustrating for breakfast in the morning and finding the continental breakfast area

Pools were excellent with great food/beverage services. Kids especially loved the many pool slides! The staff was very respondent to any of our needs. I just wished they would offer different pillow options (like many high quality hotels).
