Hyatt Regency Vancouver

The hotel

Very Vancouver, this downtown delight brings the city’s signature cool styling, upscale-yet-casual lifestyle, and modern dining scene to your door. It might be stylish and spacious — and have free WiFi on tap — but you won’t want to spend much time in your guestroom — not when your feature-filled hotel has distractions like a gym, Life Luxe Spa, and al fresco sun deck with heated pool and hot tub. Giving you a true taste of British Columbia, Hyatt Regency Vancouver’s bars and restaurants feature fresh regional produce, sustainable seafood, local microbrews, home-grown wines, and artisanal cocktails, as well as the less-local Starbucks® for that pre- and post-sightseeing caffeine fix. The location’s very Vancouver too — eating out, shopping, and sightseeing are effortless with downtown favourite Robson Street just blocks away, and Stanley Park’s beaches, cycling, and totem poles a leisurely stroll.

So the HRV is a well located hotel being near the Cruise Port, Shopping and Entertainment areas, but it is overpriced for the service standards it offers. Actually only booked a Day Stay as we left a cruise early in the morning and our flight wasn’t until late evening, and yet I was dissatisfied from the moment of arrival. This is supposed to be a 5* Star hotel and yet there was no kerb side luggage assistance despite the fact that there appeared to be a person behind a desk to the side of the main doors, no assistance was offered. Anyway I dragged my heavy cases into the lobby, which was unwelcoming and quite dark. Check in was fine our room was ready, but again no luggage assistance to the room. The room itself was presented well, clean and comfortable but nothing special , just another corporate conference style hotel. Which would be fine if it was priced more reasonably, but that was not the case. To me this Hyatt should not be ranked at 5 Star. Read less

No parking , phones not working. Bad customer service, no follow through. Had to park at a different hotel.

Great centrally located hotel in Vancouver that is safe and clean and not far from cruise ports. Many restaurant and sites around, plus right next to public bus/train transportation as well. Would stay there again.

20 people in the room above our suite. Could not sleep all night. Was told room service will be 45 minutes “standard time” for 2 glasses or i can go get them from ground floor myself. Was given a connecting room which had no sound proofing. No privacy or safety for guests.

I have stayed at the Hyatt on a few different occasions. A few times out of leisure and the other times at conferences. Each time I am pleased with the service and food offerings. That said, more recently and since I need to be gluten-free, I have noticed the GF offerings are not the best at a conference during snack time. We were offered pre-pacaged not so great tasting GF baked goods. I think they could improve in this area and offer fruit and veggie platters instead with GF crackers on the side. The smoothies were pretty great, some of them a little bland (like the yogurt and berries one - it was missing a bit of sweetness). Their pina colada one with ginger was amazing, and my colleagues and I were raving about it. All that said, I do love this hotel and for various reasons. First, the location really cannot be beat - it is central to downtown so everything in Vancouver is accessible by foot, transit, or uber haha! So many amazing restaurants downtown, the shopping disctrict is literally a street away. The rooms are well-appointed and so clean. The internet has improved. The customer service is great and so friendly. I always feel safe here as a solo female traveller at times. This is my favourite spot in Vancouver and I will be back. The only downside with all the positives though is the fact that the rooms can be quite costly which is sad because that means I cannot always stay here :( Read less
