We stayed at Pumba Game Reserve, Bush Lodge. Our delightful lodge overlooked the plain, where each day we were spoilt with the sight of many different animals strolling past, from the entertaining Warthogs, majestic elephants to the graceful giraffe. We went on 6 game drives and saw close up the “big 5” Our Ranger Denise was extremely knowledgable, ensuring we gat to see all of the animals. The refreshment stops were a nice touch, our final one in amongst herds of zebra & giraffe. The food and atmosphere in the restaurant was excellent. Every member of staff that we met were excellent and could not do enough to make sure the stay was enjoyable - an example of this was for lunch one day we went across to the Water Lodge and were treated with the same friendly manner even though we were only there for a couple of hours. Would thoroughly recommend if you are looking to safari in comfort. Read less

I cannot praise this part of our holiday enough. The room we had was fabulous with its own plunge pool on the outside deck. I cannot praise this part of our holiday enough. The room we had was fabulous with its own plunge pool on the outside deck. The walls were glass so you could - if you wanted- sit in the bath and watch the wildlife go past. From our room we saw giraffe, warthog, various antelope and one morning 4 lions strolled across the area. Each day - in the morning (early) and the early evening you can go out on a jeep safari with a driver/guide. The jeeps carry a maximum of 8 but we only had 4 in ours. The drivers are very knowledgeable about the wildlife, and spent lots of time going to areas they thought would be interesting. We saw all the big 5 - including a leopard, loads of elephants, giraffe and some white rhino. Towards the end of each session they would stop and set-up a table with tea/coffee/drinks etc and nibbles - on the afternoon ones alcohol was also available. Care needed to be taken as there are no 'comfort stops' on these trips and they vary from 2.5 to 3 hours. The dining room had a fabulous aspect over the reserve and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was varied and generally well prepared and served. Our package was all inclusive so we had free rein on alcohol all day - but were remarkable restrained given the early starts each morning. I cannot recommend this place enough - we had 3 nights- which was probably enough as part of a longer holiday. Read less

My wife and I had been to Pumba before to celebrate her birthday and stayed at the Msenge Bush Lodge. As we had such an incredible time, we again decided to celebrate my wife’s birthday at Pumba and this time decided to stay at the Water Lodge. The Water Lodge chalets are right next to Lake Cariega and each have their own private game viewing deck with a plunge pool and outdoor shower. On arrival at our chalet, we were greeted with a fantastic sight, as two large elephants were drinking from the lake, really close to our deck. The deck is a great place to chill and relax and besides watching elephants coming to the lake for a drink, it was fascinating observing the hippos close by next to the lake. Our room was extremely spacious, clean and comfortable with a king-size bed, lounge area, free standing bath, separate shower, double basins and a convenient minibar fridge. As we visited in winter, the fireplace was very useful, providing welcome warmth and creating a lovely ambiance. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is all inclusive and the food was absolutely superb, particularly the deserts. The all-inclusive drinks are good and there is a varied selection. The morning and afternoon game drives were awesome and we saw plenty of wildlife, including lion, elephant, rhino, giraffe, hippo, wildebeest, zebra and many antelope. Brendan our game ranger was very knowledgeable and informative. All the staff were extremely polite, friendly, attentive and efficient. For my wife’s birthday, the staff arranged a bottle of sparkling wine and some treats in the room, which was greatly appreciated. Overall, we once again had a fantastic stay at Pumba and definitely hope to be back. Read less

From the moment we arrived at Pumba Bush Lodge it was truly magical. After the friendliest greeting we drove to the lodge where we saw lots of animals en route! Our room was amazing where we could look out to see giraffes in the distance from our plunge pool. Our first game drive was in the afternoon where we were introduced to our ranger Dean. What Dean didn't know about animals wasn't worth knowing. The way he could track animals was amazing! We saw: giraffes, leopards, elephants, rhinos and the beautiful white lions too. The trip was topped off by getting engaged after our last drive where the staff had arranged for a bottle of champagne in the room. Honestly the most perfect stay ever, would recommend to everyone!
