Katathani Phuket Beach Resort

Phuket, Thailand

The hotel

In a secluded bay, overlooking a beach regarded as the most beautiful on Phuket, this is certainly an idyllic holiday choice. Soft golden sand to glide along, sunsets to admire, and, of course, beautiful accommodation, ranging from Junior Suites to those set back amongst trees and tropical flowers. Ideal for families as well as couples and groups of friends, spend the day lazing by the poolside – there are six to choose from – whilst the kids splash about in their own pool (they’ve got four!) Pampering pursuits include a full-service spa and a beauty salon, ensuring you look and feel your best. As well as lots of sports activities you can get involved in more cultural endeavours, take a Thai cooking class and learn how to carve those fancy fruit decorations or enjoy a workout whilst learning the art of Thai boxing. As we’ve said, this hotel is great for the youngsters too – whilst parents are busy snoozing under the shade of an umbrella, kids can head to their own private club, getting stuck into activities such as balloon painting, necklace making, clay sculpting and much much more. Finally, a word about those restaurants, there are several to choose from, serving Thai and Western delights for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s also La Scala for Italian cuisine and light music, plus several beach bars for an enticing tropical cocktail!

It has basically its own beach as the resort stretches along the full length of the beach. At both ends you can snorkel but the south side is best with a few underwater rock patches just a bit out of the coast. Nice fish and a bit of coral. The prices are a bit higher than normal but its still reasonable. Just outside the resort are a few nice restaurants more cheaply priced. All in all excellent resort and we enjoyed it very much, thanks! Read less

I visited the Katathani Beach Resort to do nothing but relax. The Resort and particularly the staff made this very easy. The facilities are excellent. Each of the restaurants were wonderful with beautiful food and excellent service. There are so many pools to enjoy and a lovely beach.

Not once did we encounter a rude person and every single one has been an enjoyable experience. Always friendly and eggar to assist in some way. The staff here has been stellar. I brought in my 60 th here in Thailand and I was greeted with a small cake at about 930. Nice touch. The hotel always replied to my requests, my emails and assured everything was complied with. I would come back for sure. The location is perfect because it’s quiet and right on the beach, the grounds are kept beautiful and manicured. We stayed for 2 weeks and to my surprise gave us a junior suite for the whole time when we’re suppose to only have it for one week because my daughter joined us for the second week, again nice perk. We love this place and we will be back but next time it will be the whole family. Read less

My son loved the kids club which was huge, clean and had plenty to keep kids occupied (ball pit, books, lots of toys, jungle gym and a movie room). My husband and I loved the buffet breakfast on the beach and we all loved the pools. The staff were helpful, friendly, and assisted with any enquiry we had. The airport transfers provided by the hotel were perfect for our circumstances. The spa and nail cottage were great too. The resort is in its own little part of Phuket and it feels like you are in your own little world, but if you walk down the street you can get your laundry done, or pick up essentials from the 7-11 and family mart and pharmacy if the melon marts at the resort are closed. Kata and Karon are only a quick taxi ride away for night markets and don’t forget the after beach bar up the hill for a breathtaking sunset view. Read less

We stayed for four nights earlier this month. The hotel has more of a functional entrance from the road than a spectacular one but don’t let that put you of. The beach side of the lobby is where this Hotel excels. There is a lovely green space dotted with palm trees to provide shade and the pools are situated here too. There is a good choice of pools - including an adults only one - and we had no problems getting sun loungers. When we arrived there was a pre wedding party going on. This was lively and noisy at times but other than that this was a very restful hotel in Phuket. It benefits from bring slightly away from the centre and situated on Kata Noi beach which was lovely and from what we could see one of the best in the area. We stayed in the Thani wing which had great views overlooking the sea. Rooms were spacious but needed some modernisation. Control of the lights seemed complicated- too many switches... Breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold dishes provided on a buffet style. The choice was better earlier on in the breakfast sitting. The pool waiters provided a much welcomed service and both snacks and drinks were reasonably priced. The views from the bars - particularly at sunset - were stunning. We only ate dinner at the Fisherman’s Wharf restaurant. This was very good with a wide choice of fresh fish which could be cooked in a number of different ways. The red snapper and grouper fillets were excellent. Bottle of wine was expensive compared with UK but reasonable compared to hotels in Thailand. Certainly if we were staying in Phuket again we would consider this hotel. Read less
