Katathani Phuket Beach Resort

Phuket, Thailand

The hotel

In a secluded bay, overlooking a beach regarded as the most beautiful on Phuket, this is certainly an idyllic holiday choice. Soft golden sand to glide along, sunsets to admire, and, of course, beautiful accommodation, ranging from Junior Suites to those set back amongst trees and tropical flowers. Ideal for families as well as couples and groups of friends, spend the day lazing by the poolside – there are six to choose from – whilst the kids splash about in their own pool (they’ve got four!) Pampering pursuits include a full-service spa and a beauty salon, ensuring you look and feel your best. As well as lots of sports activities you can get involved in more cultural endeavours, take a Thai cooking class and learn how to carve those fancy fruit decorations or enjoy a workout whilst learning the art of Thai boxing. As we’ve said, this hotel is great for the youngsters too – whilst parents are busy snoozing under the shade of an umbrella, kids can head to their own private club, getting stuck into activities such as balloon painting, necklace making, clay sculpting and much much more. Finally, a word about those restaurants, there are several to choose from, serving Thai and Western delights for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s also La Scala for Italian cuisine and light music, plus several beach bars for an enticing tropical cocktail!

We stayed in the Bhuri wing in Katathani Resort with our 2 year daughter for 7 nights. It was a perfect resort with my two year old daughter as she loved playing in the splash pool, most of our time was in fact spent in the splash pool. They also had brilliant kids club which once again my daughter loved, they had lots of toys and activities in there, it was ideal when it rained for a day. The kids club was secure as well. Near the pools they have 3 ladies doing massages, we absolutely loved this service me and my husband took turns to get foot scrub massages etc, they were fairly cheap as well. Moving onto food they had lots of snack bars and restaurants in the resort. I’ll definitely recommend Fisherman Wharf just because the atmosphere and the waiters were great. Obviously the prices in the resort are costly compared to outside the resort. With regard to breakfast it became repetitive and no variety, they didn’t have any hash browns or baked beans which was quite surprising. Also there wasn’t much choices with mocktails either. The beach was nice and the sunset was beautiful to watch. The breakfast is also located facing the beach which was very nice. The resort is beautiful itself especially walking through it in the evenings. The only downside we experienced is when we arrived at the hotel it was in the morning and our agent emailed to let us check in early as we had a long flight and a toddler, which the resort apparently agreed to but when we got there the reception said they couldn’t see any messages and told us we had to wait but after explaining they said there is a room available earlier and allowed us to check in earlier than 2pm. Also the agent mentioned it was my bday and requested a cake but we didn’t get that either. Other than that we enjoyed our stay in Katathani and will recommend it to families with young children. The resort itself is in good condition and is good for families. It is right on the beach and has numerous pools, bars and restaurants. We shared a Grand Deluxe Room, it had a very comfy king size bed and then 2 single beds (one of which is a pull out) but my kids slept brilliantly every night on them. There is also a decent balcony with chairs to sit on after the kids have gone to sleep. Breakfast was good, the usual stuff and plenty to choose from. The staff were very friendly. Drinks are great, happy hour cocktails are approx $6 - which is a bargain for anyone used to paying Singapore prices! There are a few restaurants in short walking distance or a short Tuk Tuk ride and you can reach Kata beach. Read less

The pools are divine and special shout-out to the breakfast buffet in the morning: oh so wonderful of a selection and good value for price! The pretzel rolls were my favorite and selection of butterfly and ginger teas. Read less

Everything about the hotel was first class from the food and drinks to the room facilities and cleanliness. We had a deluxe pool view room(6232)which was beautiful and very well equipped with excellent air con and so comfortable. Lastly a huge thank you to all the staff who were so friendly and helpful with a special mention for Joy who arranged our tours and taxis and Nop in the beach bar who was always entertaining. .
