Katathani Phuket Beach Resort

Phuket, Thailand

The hotel

In a secluded bay, overlooking a beach regarded as the most beautiful on Phuket, this is certainly an idyllic holiday choice. Soft golden sand to glide along, sunsets to admire, and, of course, beautiful accommodation, ranging from Junior Suites to those set back amongst trees and tropical flowers. Ideal for families as well as couples and groups of friends, spend the day lazing by the poolside – there are six to choose from – whilst the kids splash about in their own pool (they’ve got four!) Pampering pursuits include a full-service spa and a beauty salon, ensuring you look and feel your best. As well as lots of sports activities you can get involved in more cultural endeavours, take a Thai cooking class and learn how to carve those fancy fruit decorations or enjoy a workout whilst learning the art of Thai boxing. As we’ve said, this hotel is great for the youngsters too – whilst parents are busy snoozing under the shade of an umbrella, kids can head to their own private club, getting stuck into activities such as balloon painting, necklace making, clay sculpting and much much more. Finally, a word about those restaurants, there are several to choose from, serving Thai and Western delights for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s also La Scala for Italian cuisine and light music, plus several beach bars for an enticing tropical cocktail!

Despite the efforts of the staff, they could not get rid of it, which made it quite uncomfortable. The Xmas buffet had a wide selection, but lacked some choice for certain dietary requirements so that was a disappointment for the compulsory cost of the event. Generally the food is decent. There are a few swimming pools, which is a nice choice but actually means that guests are spread out and there isn't much socialising. Also you need to pay to have a sun bed on the beach. This should be free to hotel guests. Read less

The Katathani is a large resort on kata noi beach spread across both sides of the road. The resort boasts 5 pools, 6 restaurants; tennis courts, 3 beach bars and 2 breakfast areas situated in immaculately maintained grounds which serve Asian, Continental and traditional cooked breakfasts as well as a great pastries section not to mention our personal favourite the pancake making machines. The resort is about 15-20 min walk up many hills to the heart of kata town, however the hotel does offer a shuttle service and there are some shops and some good restaurants outside the hotel. The hotel is a very popular wedding destination however some of these parties can be quite intrusive to the other guests in terms of noise and traffic however the resort is large enough to find a quiet spot away from the noise. The beach bars offer a table service for food and drink though the food menu has limited options the food is great quality and staff are polite and efficient, the restaurant all offer very good quality food with many choice of restaurants from Italian to traditional Thai food, our personal favorite was the Fisherman’s wharf, however the hotel is now showing its age now and some of the wings are going through renovations which I hope will be carried through to the rest of the hotel. We opted for a grand suite in the Thani wing with a great beach view room, however our room was looking tired and the mini bar was empty you have to call room service and ask for what you need and also had the most complicated light switches system with over 20 different light switches for our suite, we also found the bed to very hard but to the staff’s credit they improved the bed by adding several mattress toppers. In conclusion this a large resort more suited to families and wedding parties rather than a couples resort, it is situated on one of the best beaches in Phuket however at times you do feel like you are in a Βutlins Holiday camp. The staff are very friendly and the food is very good but due to size of the resort you sometimes loose that personal touch and that attention to detail you get from smaller luxury hotels Read less

We have been holidaying at Katathani Beach Resort for over 7 years, visiting year after year. We held our wedding at Katathani in January 2017 with 22 of our closest family and friends. We still visit each year. Our wedding experience organised by the resort was sooo perfectly planned and meticulously flawless. Every detail was discussed and catered for with the utmost professionalism and care. The venue for the ceremony overlooking the ocean was the scene out of a movie. The Secret Garden for our reception was decorated so beautifully. The food for our wedding was fresh, plentiful and cooked to perfection. We can't rave enough about the staff who actually feel like part of our family now. The attention to detail they showed towards planning our wedding made it both magical & romantic and left us and our guests to still talk about that day 3.5 years later. If you are thinking of a destination wedding, then this resort is absolutely perfect. Angelo and Natalie Read less

When we need a perfect place to recover after a period of very hard working and need some family time, we use to hide with the kids somewhere at a beautiful place not too far away which is extra relax for the parents as well as playful and exiting for the kids. We’ve find this place in a Kata, in the Katathani Beach Resort. Located at the end of the street it’s a perfect hideaway. Directly at the gorgeous beach, dramatic beautiful sunsets for free, sitting with a drink at one of the bars.. and all the stress is just leaving you. The kids had a blast in the kids club called Chiang noi. They didn’t miss us all day. There are some nice restaurants either, very good for dinner with very friendly staff and delicious food. After a good sleep in one of the great rooms (ours was fully new renovated) there is a splendid breakfast waiting for you. We couldn’t find something missing on that breakfast, even not guessing with the kids. Pool time then, wether you opt for the super clean pools or head for a jump in the sea, everything is right around you. Non need for moving to somewhere out. Relax then in the flowering gardens on a sun-bed or enjoy even a massage under the blue sky. Whenever you need staff to answer a question or doing some reservations for you, help to book a tour or a table, they are quickly ready to help you. They have a customer relations team which is highly responsive and very quick and smart. Ask for Khun Pla or Khun Pui and Khun Chart. Good experience always. We’ll be back for sure, as soon as possible. We need it already again. Read less
