Katathani Phuket Beach Resort

Phuket, Thailand

The hotel

In a secluded bay, overlooking a beach regarded as the most beautiful on Phuket, this is certainly an idyllic holiday choice. Soft golden sand to glide along, sunsets to admire, and, of course, beautiful accommodation, ranging from Junior Suites to those set back amongst trees and tropical flowers. Ideal for families as well as couples and groups of friends, spend the day lazing by the poolside – there are six to choose from – whilst the kids splash about in their own pool (they’ve got four!) Pampering pursuits include a full-service spa and a beauty salon, ensuring you look and feel your best. As well as lots of sports activities you can get involved in more cultural endeavours, take a Thai cooking class and learn how to carve those fancy fruit decorations or enjoy a workout whilst learning the art of Thai boxing. As we’ve said, this hotel is great for the youngsters too – whilst parents are busy snoozing under the shade of an umbrella, kids can head to their own private club, getting stuck into activities such as balloon painting, necklace making, clay sculpting and much much more. Finally, a word about those restaurants, there are several to choose from, serving Thai and Western delights for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s also La Scala for Italian cuisine and light music, plus several beach bars for an enticing tropical cocktail!

We travelled end July/beg August 2018, and were unfortunate to have really stormy and rainy weather, which of course is not the hotels fault. However the terrace doors of the oceanfront rooms are not at all isolated against the water, and there was a constant 1mm of water throughout the room, and the moisture of this combined with the ac made all mirrors, walls and surfaces wet. The hotel caters to chinese package tours that probably only have breakfast included. These guests are not in the habit of consuming anything outside their paid package, and live on cup-noodles in their rooms for lunch and dinner, causing the whole resort to be deserted after beach/pool time. We left the hotel for the most part of our booked holiday and stayed elsewhere. We came back the last day before our return flight home, and arriving at the italian restaurant 10 minutes before the announced "last order / closing" time were told it was closed, as were all the other restaurants. The staff at the restaurants would not let us out and were quite rude. We had to ask the lobby to call the night manager to "force" them to let us order dinner. The location when the weather is fine is quite stunning though and during non stormy periods the rooms are probably not wet and soggy. Read less

We just had our first ten day stay at Katathani. We asked for a room change from ground floor to an upper floor. It was done with no trouble, and our room even had water glimpses. It was very clean with plenty of storage and space for two people. Lots of yummy food choices, nice pools and great massages. We used the adults only pool which needs more signs as there were often children in the pool. Breakfast had lots to choose from and I had no trouble getting gluten free food and soy milk. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Read less

Great place for kids! Very family friendly. Our room wasn’t good because the garden view wasn’t a garden. Next time I would choose pool view or something like that. The resort is at the end of the road and there aren’t many places to go except the resort. It’s very remote here.

We have not long returned home after 8 nights at Katathani Resort. The location of the resort is just beautiful. Its approx a 2km walk into Kata which means that you are far enough away from the noise and hustle and bustle. The staff are lovely, the grounds of the resort are spectacular, the resort has many resorts to choose from and there are a few just outside the resort on the strip. The beach is beautiful and we were very thankful for the adults pool and happy hour 5.30 - 7 pm. The only thing that I could say in terms of feedback is - when we first walked into the room we were a little bit disappointed. Whilst i would say the resort is 5 stars, the rooms (at least our room) was not. We also had our daughter staying in the room, without this extra bed the room would gave felt more spacious however I still feel that the rooms could do with some updating. Tips: we had a pool view room on the ground floor. This was an idea location although next time I would prefer to be on the beach side. Check out the restaurant at The Shores (adults only)- go for dinner and watch the sunset. Just stunning. Taxi fares - these can add up a bit so if you go into Patong make it count, get everything thst you need to avoid having to go again. The litlle Family Mart store in the strip of shops near the resort has almost all that you need and us cheap. The shop selling pillow covers and elephant statues about half way down the stip also sells jewellery however it is NOT sterling silver. They will say that it is but it is not. My ring has turned brass after just 1 week. Katathani is beautiful - you wont be disappointed. Read less
