Imagine arriving, after 12 hours on a train, to a room that is so stifling that it takes your breath away, literally. When I called down to the front desk to find how to adjust the AC, they replied, "Your room does not have air conditioning because you did not ask for it." They actually suggested that I keep my first floor windows open all night and put a fan in it. These windows, facing the parking lot and the casino next door, open all night, would be excellent for anyone who wanted to join me that night... Imagine, the number one TripAdvisor rated hotel, with no air conditioning in many of the rooms. And of course, YOU have to ask for it... Another fatal flaw: Not one of the young people at the front desk knew anyting about security. Without exception, every single one of them during the 4 days announced my name and room number to everyone in the surrounding area. As a senior woman traveling alone, this could be very dangerous. Even in Canada, there are people who could use this information inappropriately. It was as if no one had gone through any kind of training there. And while the dining room has a lovely setting, the service and food was 50% at best. One morning the chef sent out a gluten-free bun that I had paid $1.50 extra for, totally blackened. Really? I sent it back, of course, but why would anyone in their right mind send that out to begin with? Another evening I ordered the sliders which on the menu say that they come with coleslaw and barbecue sauce on top of the beef. But they forgot the barbecue sauce and I had to ask for it. And when I ask for the check, several minutes later, the server was hanging out with her buddies, chatting up a storm, totally oblivious to my request. Their decor was very traditional, with expensive fabrics and materials. But the floors of a slick marble tile are a hazard if a drop of water fell upon them. The bathroom was so small they had the toilet paper behind the door. So unless you closed the bathroom door you couldn't get to the toilet paper. I must say, on the positive side, they had the best blackout curtains I've ever seen. Frankly, I couldn't wait to leave this place. I headed back to Prince George where I stayed at a lovely Courtyard by Marriott with exemplary service, security, temperature controls, and wonderful food out of a tiny little kitchen. Bye-bye Crest Hotel! Read less

Good view from room and gym. Nice staff. Good location. Nice pub. Restaurant overpriced, food overcooked and the service understaffed. Overhyped. Eagles just outside the window. Supermarket just outside.

We turned up here at 0630 off the ferry from Haida Gwaii, just to check what time our room may be available, and big thumbs up , the night porter lady on reception, tweaked our booking and got us a room straight away!! The Crest is the best place to stay in Prince Rupert by far. The rooms are very nice and comfortable, easy to access and quiet. Everything is clean and the people are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The restaurant is first class.
