Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski

Havana, Cuba

The hotel

Part of the fabric of hypnotically beautiful Old Havana, this Grande Dame of the city sits among its champagne-coloured buildings and World Heritage sites. Virtually at its feet you’ll find iconic El Floridita, where Hemingway used to hang out – but reach its rooftop and you’re rewarded with city views, with El Capitolio and Central Park two of your closest neighbours. You’ll have infinite opportunities to soak up those city scenes while you’re up there, with an al fresco sitting room, poolside cocktail bar, panoramic restaurant, and urban-chic pool, whose glazed screen separates you from the sky beyond. There’s no mistaking your setting downstairs either – with the elegant rooms’ French windows framing the city, and the light-flooded cigar lounge fringed with eight balconies, so you can gaze out over Central Park as you sip Cuban rum, while the Cigar Sommelier hand-rolls cigars.

The hotel is truly 5 star but I was really impressed with DJ Yasel Berroa who made sure everyone enjoyed their martini summer nights with his tunes. He not only was versatile in his choices of various genres but he was also very knowledgeable and stocked with the latest songs in music industry. He made our trip much more enjoyable. Thank you Yasel for being so accommodating and making sure there was a music for everyone's taste. Read less

First , when we arrived at the lobby , the bell boy and the front desk were good and ready for my check in. It was near in the morning 12.00am. The hotel should have their own limo service instead contract to a tour company. They sent a big tour bus for our pick up ? The charged for using this tour bus is not right. They should explain to me on the phone when I call them before trip ?? Anyway we finally check in and found out that my room is so hot , I could not sleep the rest of the day. The housekeeping is good but the toiletries is not in full ? There was not toothbrush ?? No Face Towels ?? But with a oversized hand towel that could be use as a bath towel ! And the bath towel is a little small for bath towel ?? They only provide 2 pillows ????? At least should be 4 pillows !!!! They do supply a coffee maker in the room but empty fridge in a suite room ? Not teas selection in the room and a small kettle for making tea. I hope the management will look into this seriously. At least stack up the fridge and there will no snacks basket too ? The 2nd toilet , there were no hand towels and soap tray ? Expect me to leave it on the sink ? The sofa in the living room is not clean as mark is on the sofa cover. They should wash it. The room size is ok for the rate value but really need to update the room facility. The shower room glass panel is not well seal. After my shower , half of the bathroom was wet. I nearly fell down. The floor towel was too small !!! I hope the manager look into this seriously and make sure the rooms are ready to welcome the guests arrival. The TV in the room are too small ?? I was surprised to see this small in my room. They should be bigger. For $1000 a night , with this TV size ? I will not even think of staying here again when thought I am a member too. Also the worst is the internet service ? It can never stay log in ?????????? Each time my phone in sleep mode , it cut off ?????? I have to rekey all the log in and password !!!! Why not just simple log in with room number and password as last name ??????? I could not believe it. This is my first time ever encounter on a 5 Star property !!!!!!!!! The 12 digit log in number ........ is hard to memorize it. I could hardly track or check on my email ????? I could hardly keep myself update at all. I hope maybe next trip , all this will be resolved. The pool is down for repair or upgrade and we should be given more discounted rate ............. The buffet breakfast was really bad. The ham section is full of flies ..... yak !!! All they need to do is light up a candle and this flies will be off. I dare not even touch any of the hams. The hot meal section , the bacon is over supply like a bunch of overcook and undercook. Is too much over supply inside the pan ........... the bread choices is not there too. The variety of the hot meal is not enough. One of the server in the morning is a bald guy who really lazy and no manner serving us. I request for a milk for my tea and they should come with it when they serve me earl gray ........ instead , I have to wait for 15 min !!!! He just dump a glass in front of me and pour out rough and spilt over the table with no apology......... it was a nightmare to start my day. We were staying there for 4 day. I will ever eat at this place again. Read less

Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski, is surely the best situated and the most beautiful hotel in Habana. From the entrance up to the pool it is worth visiting and taking pictures! To swim in the pool and admire the view to parque central, to the Capitol and all the other beautiful Hotels and Museums is a wonderful experience! The rooms, beautifully designed, offer a very comfortable stay. The breakfast offers great variety of mouth watering buffet and one gets much attention and service from the personnel. The spa is quite good and you get views of the city whilst relaxing. The restaurant up near the pool is not good value for money. Too expensive and the food is average. This is a point the hotel should look into, as the view from there is so fantastic and it is really a pity not to enjoy your food also. Read less

Best hotel 5 stars in town. Cuba is magical but Manzana Kempinski is fabulous. The rooftop is just having the best view in town with a direct view of the golden capitol. We enjoyed dinner several times and the chef is just very good, excellent food like you want to eat for any special occasion
