Iberostar Grand Packard

Havana, Cuba

The hotel

Bringing the ultra-modern to the ultra-historic heart of Havana, the new Iberostar Grand Packard is a polished diamond in Cuba’s gorgeous colonial capital. It comes with urban luxuries like a fitness centre, super-chic drinking and dining spaces, and a luxurious al fresco infinity pool, featuring sunken sun loungers for added decadence. The hotel’s showstopper, the rooftop pool caps the colonial-style façade of the lower hotel floors and is backed by the contemporary glazed structure of the upper hotel – with stunning sea views, which also take in passing vintage American cars on the street below.

Beautiful hotel but my bikini clip was cut and my Crocs disappeared. When we wanted to check out, the bill included about 400 € costs that were not verified in any way. Where is the security and integrity that are typical of five-star quality and prices. Br, PhD (Econ.) & eMBA (Service Excellence)

Amazing view of the and 5 stars service. Thanks to Cap Daryel and all the crew at the 6th floor bar. Its a perfect place for relaxing and talking. Also great for parties and drinks anytime. Inlove with the style of the place.

The reason for the 1 rating is they had no money for currency exchange for 3 days and were no help finding an open bank. Other hotels (we tried 5) had cash but would not exchange unless we were staying there. One day the hotels credit card machines were down so money really got tight. Exchange money at the airport. 5th floor pool is really nice but they need more comfortable seating for the daytime. Read less

We decided to stay at Grand Packard due to location, pool, and modern design which we thought would come with a 5 star service. Rooms are specious, but the Atlantic Room has limited sea views. Room rates are excessively high for Havana, and we expected much more. The most annoying thing was that we had to call the reception 10 to 15 times before they answer. That happened at 6am, at noon, and in the evening. It is unacceptable to pay such an high rate hotel, and not receive prompt response on your call. Another problem is the connection to Wifi. You are only allowed one code per guest, which means you can’t have your phone and laptop online at the same time. Additionally you have to call the reception everyday to recharge your access code. Reception is never available to reach by phone, so you have to run down to do so. Staff in willing to help, but their English is so poor that you need to talk to two or three people at the same time to get what you want. I understand that in Cuba it must be very hard to find the right people, but again paying €500/night must be justified. Overall there are a couple more 5 star hotels in town, that I would stay next time given you want to spend €500/night. Read less
