Third time at the resort, but our first time in Royal Service section. We really liked the physical layout of the rooms all arranged around the edges of the large, beautifully shaped pool. We were on the ground floor and so had a covered, private veranda area with two loungers and a small table. A few feet in front of the veranda was grass and shrubs and a big beach bed with pillows (waterproof covering, airy white curtains at the corners and covered by some lattice). In front of the beach bed were two more loungers and a small table. Walk another foot forward right into the pool. Service around the pool and in the pool bar was great. Short walking distance to the beach, which was served by attentive beach bar staff. Our room was well taken care of, cleaned and restocked daily (towels, water). Staff were friendly, efficient. Yirenia always brightened the morning buffet with her welcoming attitude and smiling service. The food seemed to be lacking a little in comparison to previous years. All in all, though, we definitely enjoyed our vacation - the resort layout was great and you can't beat the ocean and the beach! Read less

This is a beautiful hotel and we were reasonably happy with our ‘first’ room, which was a large junior suite. We arrived just as the numbers in the hotel started to dwindle because of the Coronavirus - not that we saw evidence of that in Cuba! This hotel has 7 restaurants but because of dwindling numbers they closed all but 1! The restaurant left was a buffet and the food was diabolical. The staff were lovely but all we had for 6 days was badly cooked pork and fish. There was salad which we ate a lot of! They ran out of basic drinks which is not good for an all inclusive deal! As the numbers got less because nobody was travelling to Cuba we were told we had to move room as they were consolidating everyone into fewer blocks. We understood and were willing to cooperate. However after one night our new room had plumbing issues where effluent was coming up through the shower! Therefore we had to move room again. This too was only for a night because they were going to close the hotel and move all remaining guests to another hotel! At this point all pools and ‘sea’ were closed in Cuba - this was not the hotels fault and we understood that! The hotel we were all moved to was disgusting and nowhere near the standard we had originally booked for. We were only there for one more night fortunately. So, in summary, we had sympathy for the situation regarding Coronavirus and lack of visitors but we were very disappointed in the food, drink and general repair of the hotel. Read less

My husband and I spent six days in early March at the Paradisus Princesa Del Mar Resort & SPA. We had a seaview room at Royal Service section. The view is beautiful from the balcony. The room is spacious but dated. We didn’t have the hot water for two days and some other guests told us they didn’t have the hot water for up to four days. We were told not to drink the tap water and provided with 2 large bottles of water each day. We left tip in the room daily, but had two nights when no drinking water were supplied and it was hard to chase down for some – my husband tried to call for the service and could not get someone speaking in English – he was put on hold until he gave up. We went up to the main lobby desk and bar for the drinking water and were told we should call for the service… In the end, we got some filtered water by glass from the main bar. Spa facilities are simple and massage service was ok. Nonetheless, all staff at the Royal Service section are excellent! Hill Top restaurant and Sakura restaurant are fabulous! The beach is amazing! The wind was a bit strong during our stay in the early March. Read less

LeoDanis was great, getting us a good room and making sure that all of our needs were met. The entertainment was good and especially Navyi, had the most fantastic voice. She sang twice the week we were there an it was a delight. Food for us was great, we loved the fish and seafood. I think that the seafood casserole in both HillTop and Port Royal were excellent, fresh full of seafood and very tasty. It was my husband's birthday and a number of people sang happy birthday , very nice! Despite hardships from the country north of Cuba, the Cubans try there best even if there are shortages and we were never hungry, thirsty or without anything that was needed. We will definitely visit again. Read less

The food is basic but never went hungry, a la cartes not bad, we liked the French, Italian and Japanese the best. We stayed on the regular side which we heard from royal guests the upgrade isn't worth it. Our towels were replaced when needed, mini bar stocked when needed, never a problem finding chairs on the beach or at the pool. Staff very accommodating and smiles everywhere! Only negative I can think of was no hot water on one occasion and not a big deal. Fantastic bar service at the pool, we didn't even have to ask wait staff for our drinks of choice, shout out to them for Sure. All in All, yes I would return in a heartbeat! Special thanks to Mari, community manager went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. She is the biggest asset to this resort! Thanks for a wonderful stay! Read less
