My wife and I stayed ay this hotel for 5 nights Jan 2022. We had a really nice large room with a large bath/jacuzzi. The room was sparkling clean and had a balcony as well. The grounds were spacious and had two large nice swimming pools which we barely used as our room was about a one minute walk to a beautiful beach that also had a bar. There also was plenty of different activities that you could do - tennis, yoga and other classes, Spanish lessons etc. The only downside was the food in the buffet could have been better - food in the trays was not heated and so not hot although you could ask the cook to make you an omelette, cook a steak or piece of fish or pasta among others and that's primarily what we did. For dinner we usually ate in one of the restaurants where they would have revolving cuisines each night. We had Japanese, Cuban and Italian and these were pretty good. All the staff were very nice and helpful contributing to our nice experience and I must particularly point out a receptionist whose name was Lisbehy who really went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Many thanks Lisbehy and to so many others as well Read less

Trip was good, beach’s are great, service was great, food was honestly pretty bad but that seems to be par for the coarse in Cuba. Pretty standard hotel. The Japanese restaurant was the best, Kety was a good server. Good Starwbery daiquiri

From the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the right choice. We were there for our honeymoon and had decided to pay the extra for Royal Service. It was so worth it! From the bus, our bags were loaded onto a long golf cart and we were shuttled to the exclusive Royal Service area. Check-in took no time at all! Our butler- yes, we had a butler- was off for the night but had made us reservations for the Marseille Restaurant that evening. The shuttle took us to our room overlooking the gorgeous pool in the Royal Service area. Victor, our driver, brought our bags to our room. We quickly grabbed our things for dinner, and Victor dropped us off at the Main Lobby, giving us directions to the restaurant. Our expectations for the food weren't really high - we had been to Varadero a few years earlier and stayed in a 2.5 star resort where the food was nothing to write home about. The food at Marseille was amazing! We had an appetizer, salad, main course and dessert, all served by a very well trained wait staff. Cava flowed freely, and there was more of a glow coming from us than the lights from the entertainment area outside. Having been up for 21 hours, we hailed the shuttle once again and headed back to our well appointed room for the night. The bed was so comfortable that I had a hard time getting up the next morning. After a quick shower, we were off to the buffet for breakfast. Lucky us! We were 2 buildings away from the main Royal Service building! As soon as we entered the building we were greeted by our butler, William. We got acquainted, and thanked him for making us our reservations for the night before and the following 3 nights as well. We asked William if he could make us a snorkeling and cave tour reservation for Thursday and golfing forFriday. He said he would get right on it and let us know right away. We decided to wander. What a gorgeous resort! Because the resort was not at capacity, all guests were eating and drinking and swimming and beaching with each other. I know that some said it was a rip-off since we had paid the price for Royal Service, but I disagree. We still had our special suites, our butlers, free 24 hour room service, and priority bookings anywhere in the resort. Also half price at the Spa. The attention alone that we were given when we walked into any room was worth the price we paid. We stayed from January 11 - 18, 2022. Our room was maintained by the meticulous, ever cheerful Ada. We left our room like a hurricane had gone through and came back to it back in place. She was amazing! We enjoyed talking to her every day. The buffet had so many talented and well trained wait staff and servers. A shout out goes to Orestes and Rigo! Our buffet was all served by great team members and a special commendation to the grill cooks, pasta makers and omelet flippers! Don't forget to tip your deserving staff in Canadian Dollars, American Dollars or Cuban Pesos. Speaking of money, the Cubans get more bang for their buck if the receive American or Canadian dollars. Their Pesos don't carry them as far as our dollars do. There were many bars: Main Lobby Bar, Pool Bar, Snack Bar, Beach Bar, Cigar bar, Royal Service Lobby Bar, Royal Service Pool Bar... I may have missed one or two and some may not have been open. We loved the Royal Service Lobby Bar for morning coffee:Café con Leché. The Royal Service Pool Bar was always a fun place to be. ALL of the ladies in that area were fun and great to be around. The Snack Bar had AMAZING food! Who knew! They made a mean Piña Colada with chocolate syrup drizzle in the glass. You need to try this at least once! Nacho and his staff at the Beach Bar were fantastic! They will take care of you from the time you get there until it's time to go back. But our main Bar, the one that we watched the sunsets, the rainstorms, and the people all day long was the Main Lobby Bar. Sumy and Kety took care of us every day, catering to our every whim, no matter how crazy. Their Piña Coladas were second to none! They all made a huge impression on us, and we miss them all. By the end, with so many employees at the Resort, we felt like family. A couple of important shout outs before I tie things up. You MUST dine at Sakura! The tempanyaki grills are all run by phenomenal chefs who put on such an entertaining show. I wouldn't miss this if I were you! We went twice in a week! Check out the beach after sunset. What a view! Ride in a Classic car. The drivers have great stories to tell about their cars! Make a difference in someone's life. An "hola" here or a dollar there could make someone's life different! In closing, we are booking our return for March of 2023. Same Resort, same Royal Service and hopefully many of the same wonderful, warm, loving people. Read less
