The hotel

Set on one of Cuba's beautiful beaches, the Paradisus Varadero is a great complex with a fantastic range of amenities. The main hotel has several restaurants to choose from, and the bars are open 24-hours a day, so there's no need to watch the clock for last orders! There are six scattered swimming pools to lounge by, and the young ones will love the activities on offer at the baby and mini-clubs, allowing you time to soak up the sun in perfect peace. When feeling active, the list of activities is almost endless - try your hand at a variety of water sports including kayaking. For pure indulgence, the spa features two hydrothermal circuits and a superb relaxation terrace with janzu pool, swimming pool and two Jacuzzis. At night, enjoy a cocktail at one of the bars overlooking the ocean, before deciding whether to head for an Italian, an International gourmet restaurant, Mexican, Fusion or Japanese for your evening meal. Heading over to the Family Concierge area, you will find a further two more restaurants Bana and Fuego — you'll be spoilt for choice! Evening entertainment is available to suit all ages, so make sure you have yourself some night-time fun, whether you're 5 or 105!

We had to use the washroom in the lobby as we ran out of toilet paper due to not getting service for two days. I received used napkins during dinner. Body covered in flea bites from the dirty bed sheets. Choose another place as this was not worth my money. Resort was not busy, no daytime entertainment at all. Hot dogs served at the racket club (snack bar) are not cooked and were often cold. I’ve been south at least ten times and have never written a review before. I honestly felt compelled to do so as I do not want anyone to experience this ever. My skin is on fire from the bites I received. Just go some where else this is not a 5 star. I don’t want the resort to write me the generic message thanking me and saying sorry. This place is terrible period. Read less

First off, thank you to all the staff at Paradisus Varadero for ensuring our stay was the best trip I've had in Cuba. Everyone was very warm and welcoming, and would respond to every request with a smile and vigor. Thank you. Big shout out to Lester at the lobby bar. This guy will make your drink in a way that you'll need fewer. ;) He deserves your tips. I travelled here with my girlfriend. We stayed in the royal service section. I've never had a better room in Cuba. Extremely clean and very well tended to. The outdoor shower was amazing, and the huge bathroom for two with the jacuzzi was immaculate and a pleasure to brush my teeth in. :) Anyone that is planning on going here should definitely fork out the extra for Royal service. The butlers work hard for you and fill every request with a smile. We had an a la carte dinner in our room on the balcony and it was amazing. The beach is right through the main lobby. And the whole resort is built along the picturesque shoreline. Wherever you stay, save maybe the family concierge, is a short walk to the white sand beach. Very beautiful resort through and through. The food here was good, especially at the beach restaurant. The outdoor grilling was fantastic and a must have during your stay. They have real ice cream at the main buffet that is a nice treat. We didn't eat very much at the main buffet, but when we did it met the same Cuba standards as many other resorts...nothing fancy. The beach was great! Very large beach with lots of entertainment and lots of friendly guests. Good mix of adults and kids...nothing to complain about on this beach at all. Alcohol service was great, and the tenders of that bar were very friendly and always joking and smiling. If you're looking at staying at this resort I highly recommend it. I'm always surprised to read the poor reviews about this place. We all have different experiences for sure but I feel some travelers are incapable of being happy and enjoying their stay anywhere and just spend their trip complaining. This one is definitely worth a stay!!! Thanks again Paradisus Varadero!! Read less

About 45 minutes from the airport. It is a huge property, well maintained and the rooms are clean. We stayed on the Family Conceirge side in a 1 bedroom swim up suite. The room was HUGE, clean and had a second shower outdoors. We had a cabana on our balcony area. We were told that these cabanas were for our personal private use and no one else could use them (since they were a part of the swim up), however there is no signage indicating this (in order to stop other guests from using them). A few times we noticed other guests using our cabana when we were in our room (so much for private!) Food: the buffet is ok but repetitive, nothing to rave about, they do have a small selection of kid meals on lower counters for the kids. We loved Fuego. The food was never disappointing there. The ladies (Liliet and Misleydis) were so extremely friendly and loving. They gave special attention to our children and made us feel like family. Conceirge service: they make your restaurant reservations but sometimes we didn't find out about them until 1 hour before the reservation (they leave a paper in your room with details sometime in the afternoon) Room service: it takes 45 minutes MINIMUM for room service. One day we waited 1.5 hrs. Beach was stunning. Pools and entertainment were great. Kids club was great of the older kids (playstation and computers) and little ones (room full of toys). Bars were decent, they don't have Diet Coke on some days. Read less

Just don’t unless you want to lose weight on the crap food diet. If you like cockroaches in your showers and bedrooms... you’ll love it. Likewise cold showers (no hot water) and no flushing toilets ... personally I’m not a fan! Neither did I appreciate drunk Latin Americans on the family concierge pool smoking and flicking the butts in the pool ....oh and gobbing and snotting in the pool ! Not a fan of being lied to and this combined with noise from renovations and dirty rooms and only the cockroach buffet or one crap impossible to reserve a la carte (supposed to be 11 restaurants according to internet and virgin brochure) Needless to say we left and found a clean hotel with hot water and flushing toilets oh and decent food !!! Absolutely disgusted with this place one large con!!! If like us you work hard and save all year for a summer family holiday ... you’d be better off saving your money 💰 I was so stressed and disgusted at the ‘it’s cuba...what do you expect “ answer I actually fell for it and stayed longer than I should have in this hell joke of a hotel! If you find yourself there and feel conned pleased move hotels earlier as there are genuinely nice clean hotels in Varadero. Read less
