We booked our 2 week holiday at this resort following a superb relaxed and pampered stay at Secrets Cap Cana early 2022. We expected the same experience, how wrong we were! Lets start with the good points; > Staff. Waiters, waitresses and beach guys all superb > Restaurants. Despite being unable to make reservations, the visits to them all were good. We did have to wait for a table but no more than 20 minutes, apart from 1 night when we waited over an hour. Staff apologised as we had been forgotten. The food was well presented and tasty. However not much choice for vegetarians. > Resort. Clean and a stunning location with possibly the best vista we've ever experienced. Now the bad. This resort is advertised on the Tui website as a "Relaxing Spa Break" and the hotel key cards bear the statement of an" All adult Romance". This is a long way from our experience. Since the Hyatt takeover this and other Secrets resorts offer corporate group bookings and a "timeshare" ethos by any other name. > During our stay we had 3 groups arrive. The first smaller group arrived on a company reward break, the 2 larger groups, 200 + and 100+ were corporate bookings. All were loud mouthed, foul mouthed and drunk most of the time. One group turned the "quiet" pool in the preferred section into a swim up bar one afternoon, dive bombing, shouting and anyone's guess as to what else they did. Holidaymakers around that area all packed up and left mid afternoon. I'll not name the companies on here, however we have written to the companies concerned to inform them of the disrespectful behaviour of their employees representing their company. We witnessed the lifeguard assisting a young girl from the sea as she was unable to stand to get out of the water as she was so intoxicated, Added to this disruption we had loud music complete with DJ in the afternoon on the adjacent beach to the preferred beach. In addition the Barracuda bar was closed to holidaymakers on a couple of occasions to accomodate the groups. > No checks on people using the preferred area facilities. If Mackenzie and Theodore were on duty, they did ask for proof of staying in the preferred area, but they weren't always at the towel station due to working on the beach, people would then help themselves to the preferred towels, so no questions were asked if people had the preferred coloured towels. > Seaside grill was allocated to preferred guests for a la carte breakfasts. However whilst we waited for a table we witnessed non preferred guests accessing the grill and spoke with some guests already seated who were not aware this area was for preferred guests. Again no checks despite room numbers having to be given in. > Management were made aware of the above issues. They did put an appearance in for a couple of days, gave us lip service, then weren't seen again. The quiet pool is situated close to the preferred lounge and reception, however no one appeared during the very noisy afternoon which must have been heard in the reception. > Every morning we would have a steady stream of people being shown around the pool and beach area, obviously trying to sell the resorts "vacation points" (timeshare). Interesting that no one was shown around in the afternoon when the noise from the drunks was all around! > As preferred guests we should have received premium drinks, however the beach waitresses obtained your drinks from the Barracuda bar, non premium, Same goes for the piano bar, you could ask for premium and show your key card, rarely were premium drinks available. >If you are considering this resort for your wedding, think again! We witnessed 2 weddings in the beach gazebo. On both occasions whilst the bride and groom were being video'd walking down the beach walkway they were joined by the thump thump of the DJ on the adjacent beach. I do hope they have complained. > We were informed that some of the "preferred guests" were allocated rooms in the non preferred section... is this not then an overbooking of preferred? We had booked a Secrets resort in the Dominican for our 2025 2 weeks in the Caribbean, however due to the groups, timeshare, the above points and the fact that the 3rd group from a financial company in America attending their annual presidents presentation, are going to a secrets resort in the Dominican next year, we have now cancelled. Please be careful if you are planning a nice relaxing break at any of the Secrets resorts, as you wont be getting one! Read less

For the night club dj, I suggest telling him what songs you wanna hear. The property is very nice and on the beach. The excursion from amstar was good.. the bob Marley experience was nice. They just try to get you to spend a lot of money. I would suggest using them for airport pick and drop off. The process was easy. Read less

My issues were housekeeping servicing the room in the evening. Always having to ask for new face towels grew a bit annoying esp when you're ready to shower. Also whenever we ordered room service via the secret box, they would still knock until we got up to answer, which defeated the purpose. I also wish the restaurants and bars stayed open longer. Oh and good luck securing an umbrella at the pool/beach unless you're up at 6am. I didn't like the bed either, too hard, but my fiancé didn't mind it. Other than that, I had a great time and would definitely come back. Read less
