We got to The Hotel mid afternoon after a 11 hour flight and another hour in the Sandles shuttle bus from the airport. 10 March - 18th March We were welcomed in with a drink and a wet cloth. Everyone was very smiley and made us feel welcome. We were quickly shown to our room which was upgraded from the Honeymoon luxury to a much nicer room overlooking the pool and bar area where we could hear the sea which was fantastic. The room was very clean and had a huge bed, very large walk in shower stocked with everything we needed. Plenty of storage space, easy to use safe, ironing board, hair dryer and fridge stocked with juices, water, beer and fizzy drinks. We were also left with a bottle of red wine and sparkling wine which we never drunk but took home for special occasions...I`m sure they would have be replaced with more if we had drunk them. First night there was a beach party with all sorts of exotic foods which was fantastic but being tired from a long journey we had food and a few strong cocktails and went to bed.... the sound of the crickets was strange at first but its easy to get used to, especially being autistic. Our first day, breakfast was fantastic with a mix of fresh fruit and drinks with cooked breakfast buffet. Sandles have their own towels which we didn't know which helped. We never had any issues getting sun lounges at any point on our trip unlike other hotels. foam party was fun first day and the bar opens at 10 am and serves some fantastic drinks. The main guy John who runs the swim up bar has got a fun personalty and always remembered who we are and where we were from. Restaurants we visited during our stay, Neptune's, Pitons, The Cricket Club, Kimonos, The main one where you have breakfast and there was a pizza place. All were fantastic with brilliant service. All staff were polite and pleasant throughout the hotel and all said good morning/afternoon when they went past. The entertainment staff were really fantastic day and night...where they got their energy from is beyond belief. They even manage to get us to join in some evening activities by volunteering unknowingly. The Mr+Mrs dance of night was strangely entertaining. We tried so hard to knock ourselves out with some very strange dance moves which then got naughty towards the end but still managed 2nd place! how that happened :) All the entertainers from that point tried their best to try teach me to dance. They all managed to remember us which gives it a real personal touch to the holidays. During out last day while waiting to leave, the entertainment staff all came over to say goodbye and the entertainment manager came to also say goodbye and got us drinks while we waited to leave. The beach was lovely but due to some strong currents we only managed to get in the sea 2 days before we left but we managed to go Kayaking. We did all the other stuff at The Grande resort. I would make sure you bring plenty of Sun cream just in case you run out. At $29 for sun cream in the shop was quite expensive. They also have a guy who paints landscapes of St Lucia, also i bit pricey but well worth it as lovely quality and colourful ( that`s the British way..not colorful) There are a lot of fantastic photographers taking photos but you get 15 mins free photo shoot but usually a little longer which is good. The only thing i would say is they are very expensive at $18 a photo but we picked the best 5 and had them to take on disc. We had too much choice and they even offered a night shoot which we didn't do because we would have to choose more. We were both very sad to leave, especially during the Covid19 virus epidemic. This has delayed me from leaving a review sooner. I hope everyone at the hotel is all OK and still have their jobs after all this. I couldn't think of a worse place to get stranded in a virus outbreak. Read less

Heads up to anyone booked this Spring: We booked years ago to return to Sandals this April for our 5 year honeymoon in St Lucia (would have been our 4th Sandals stay). With the recent travel bans and resort closures, we fully expected having to reschedule for next year, let them keep our deposit, and hope for the best. We had fully paid for the trip just before the Coronavirus issue arose. We received a notice from Sandals that all resorts are now closed, and to not call them due to high volume - they would instead reach us in order of priority and arrival date to discuss rescheduling etc. They finally called tonight, stating we had to decide, tonight, to reschedule within 1 year and they would retain our FULL payment until that time (full payment for these trips is not due until roughly 60 days prior). Would have been glad to reschedule and let them keep the original deposit - but not accepting incoming calls and calling us the day a 50% cancellation penalty is due, otherwise they keep the full amount (indefinitely)? Scammy. Very disappointing, and entirely in contrast to our previous experiences with Sandals. Read less

The staff (mostly the female servers in the restaurants) went out of their way to be rude. I was shocked by how condescending and nasty they were-very sarcastic and they let you know that they weren't thrilled to serve you. At one point, the waitress moved my chair without saying a word-while I was in it. 24hr room service...when we ordered at 11pm, we got pushback from the kitchen and then got cold food 1hr. later. Food was mediocre and service in general was mediocre. Had I not paid almost $10k for this trip (we got the butler suite), maybe I wouldn't be as let down as I am. Read less

Overall a fantastic holiday with my wife and parents in their 90’s.5 stars with the nicest landscaping and most well maintained buildings of any sun holiday I have taken. We were there March 9-16,2020 just as Covid 19 really exploded and 2 cases arrived to St Lucia ( there was lots of hand sanitizer but I had to repeatedly tell staff to stop shaking hands with my parents). Water in the ocean and pools was nice and refreshing (Jamaica at this time of year last year had water so warm in the pools and ocean that it did not cool us off). Water is good to drink from the taps. Evening BBQ with fire dancers was amazing. Just a few negative things: 1 For the 1.5 hour drive back to the airport on a sweltering hot day the bus driver told us it was Sandals policy to not turn on the AC. My parents became quite dehydrated and extremely uncomfortable. The staff at the resort that needed to communicate with the guests almost all spoke perfect English and were generally quite intelligent. This driver and most of the other bus drivers spoke very little English and were very unfriendly. 2 Extreme shortages of toilets everywhere at the resort. 3 Only one place to eat at lunch with a/c which is Armando’s and is on top of the hill, about a 10 minute walk or short cart ride. 4 Porter at airport (not a Sandals employee) will abruptly grab your bags out of your hands, as if it were mandatory, take the bags 100’ down a hallway to the Sandals room and rudely demand a tip. 5 Absolutely no exceptions to 11am checkout. You may have to wait in lobby for hours with no a/c for your bus to the airport. 6 Horrible wi-fi that does not work half the time. Not a single computer at the resort that you are allowed to use. 7 There is a totally unnecessary red flag 90% of the time at La Toc, meaning no swimming, snorkelling, hobie cats, paddle boards or kayaks etc. There is a heavy wave break at the shoreline and it gets deep quick but no serious undertow. I ignored the red flag and swam every day until the lifeguard yelled at me.I am 65 and had no problems. The waves were fun to play in. If you want to go into the water forget about La Toc-go to Halcyon or better yet-La Grande. 8 No night time shows like other larger resorts-just some singers/entertainers in the lobby at night with the volume cranked way too loud. 9 Like most resorts the staff from the spa, photographers and people selling excursions will hound you for your first three days. 10 Bring your camera/phone-the resort photos are the biggest rip off and they are not that good. 11 If you want to go snorkelling at the beach you have to buy new cheap snorkels and masks for about $50 US. They are provided when you go on the free boat trips which are great. 12 Hard to get a straight answer on ANYTHING. Ie price of non included excursions. (All are over priced like most resorts). 13 Butler service is very redundant/useless. You will be provided a phone to call your butler direct. Pretty much everything they do you can do yourself way quicker. Ie there is regular golf cart type transport circulating regularly-if you wait for your butler to take you it will be way longer. Your butler may make a dinner reservation and transport you/walk you in-you can do all this yourself way quicker and I personally found it quite pretentious. 14 The resorts efforts to make the service top end also got tiring and unnecessarily ostentatious. Ie waiting and contacting three people to be seated in almost empty seats at the buffets. Just do it yourself-you are going to tell them which table you want anyway. 15 When you are ordering food IE Neptunes for lunch by the beach-you may think you have the right person to order but may have to go through 3 or 4. One may seat you, another pour your water, another to go fetch the person that can actually take the order. All over the map on how long it will take-sometimes an hour before you see any food. 16 The food was generally fantastic with the exception of most of the meat which was very chewy Ie Ribeye at The Pitons, pork ribs at the BBQ, most of the steaks, duck at La Toc. The exception was the steak and ale pie at the pub-best I ever had. 17Not enough shade on the sand at any of the three resorts. 18 Not enough chairs on the sand or by the pools. Read less
