My family and I had a wonderful time. The staff made our stay very welcoming and comfortable. Lovely drinks and food. The beachfront view is to die for lol. Although the facility was clean, it could do with a little updating and a bigger pool. I can't wait to visit coco reef again. 💖

The scenery is very nice and the rooms, although not modern, are very comfortable. I named this review "Look beyond the imagery" as the imagery in the market is not truly reflective of the property. Whilst the rooms do have floral curtains and light-shades, terracotta floor tiles and peach walls- the official imagery makes it looks more dated than it is. I have concluded that this is mainly down to the lighting. Yes, the rooms would benefit from an update (particular the bathrooms) but once you are here, the traditional decor is quite insignificant as there are so many wonderful things here. This was our first long-haul holiday with our toddler and we certainly made the right choice in Coco Reef. The airport transfer takes less than 5-minutes, the team were so warm and welcoming to us and our son and the shallow lagoon, private beach is perfect for small children. Our son is too young for a kids club, so we didn't need a large family-orientated property so this was ideal. The shallow water with no waves was perfect, the beach is private so he could run up and down and there were other pre-school children staying so it was great. It didn't take long for all of the staff to know his name- everyone we met was friendly. Nice easy walk to plenty of bars and restaurants. Store Bay is to the right of the property (from the ocean) and Pigeon Point to the left- its a bit of a walk, but doable. Eric, the GM couldn't do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble, and he has the art of knowing what guests want- before they even know they do. He is very intuitive. For example, we wanted to eat in Bacchanals (casual) restaurant for dinner one evening, but we selected the only nigh of the week it isn't open. My husband didn't want to change from shorts to trousers/pants so we ordered room service and sat on our balcony. The food came really quickly (you can order anything from the main restaurant menu, and the tray charge is minimal.) Once we'd finished and left the trays outside, there was a knock on the door with a box of chocolates, sent with compliments of the GM to enjoy our evening indoors. They provided a suitable bed for our young son, which was outside of usual room configuration and always ensured we were comfortable. Whilst there is only two restaurants, they mix it up enough that it doesn't feel samey. Lunch at Bacchanals is either a la carte with light menu, or they did a BBQ or buffet- we had something different every day. The dinner at Tamaras was INCREDIBLE and comparable with some of the dishes we have had at 5* properties. The menu changes every two days, so plenty of options. Breakfast offered lots of variety. We opted for All Inclusive, but given the location- you don't need to. We just chose to for budgeting purposes. We didn't use the spa or the gym but did go and have a look. This was spacious, cool and functional. We loved all the artwork around the property and the waterfall and fishes in the lobby. A highlight for our son. We could not believe how many fish were in the lagoon, even in the shallowest part. So wonderful. Ideal for snorkelling and they have a dive shop too. There is only one small pool (deep in parts!) but that didn't matter as the ocean is our first choice and was very warm and shallow anyway. There is a real feeling of genuine hospitality here and an old-world charm but with a luxurious feel. When you drive up the dramatic driveway with beautifully manicured gardens, and see the gold statues around property and chandeliers- it feels very decadent and you know you are somewhere special. It is opulent without being tacky. Modern rooms would not fit with the character and style of this property, but they would benefit from more contemporary bathrooms at least. Overall, we had such a wonderful holiday here and made memories- I recommend this property to those who want to holiday somewhere with an identity and sense of place, for those who want to be able to walk out to experience nightlife, culinary and heritage and for families with pre-schoolers. Also simply anyone who wants an authentic Caribbean experience. The photos simply don't do the property justice. We would return in a heartbeat! Read less
