This was one of the best places we've stayed in Tobago. Everything was just amazing. From the time we got there we were greeted with a welcome drink during check-in (need i mention that this rum pumch is out of this world). The check-in process was smooth and the front desk agent was very polite and accommodating and answered all our questions. The fact that we had a bell man take up our bags to our room was a plus for us. We've stayed on other hotels in Tobago and had to take our bags up ourselves. The room was so inviting. Very clean and spacious. The view from the porch was the best. So peaceful... After we had settled in, the front desk agent phoned us to ensure that everything met our expectations. That was a plus for us. Our 3 night stay at the hotel was awesome. From the buffet breakfast which was always so tasty to the large pool and the pool bar was everything we wanted for our mini vacation. The staff made us feel very comfortable and tried to accommodate our every need. We had a small issue in our room and someone was sent up immediately to have the problem fixed. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone taking a trip to Tobago for both a long and short stay. You won't be disappointed. Read less

Looks nice on first impression but it is all façade. Horribly run down hotel, neither 4 star nor luxury. Be aware there is NO hot water at this hotel. Some staff are great, others indifferent and prefer chatting amongst themselves rather than commit time to guests. I would urge you to avoid it if you can. It's probably ok for a short stay but no longer than that. Can honestly say this is the worst property I have ever stayed in and would not recommend it nor would I return, it was one very big let down. I cannot bring myself to write a long diatribe of all that is so very wrong with this property as it would not change my own experience here and you must make up your own mind but do give it very careful consideration. We stayed here with friends and got home at the weekend. Our room was clean and comfortable and was cleaned every day. The grounds were nice but needed keeping on top of. We walked along the beach and at the waters edge it was lovely but where the beach met the property there was rubbish that had been washed up (this wasn't near the main hotel). This didn't impact on our holiday but just made me sad that a beautiful place was being ruined by the way we behave. The staff at this hotel are stars. Vinod the manager was attentive. Troy the restaurant manager was too and asked us daily if there was anything he could do to make our stay better. We enjoyed Salaka and Kuli'na restaurants more then Pembois. However the breakfast at Pembois was lovely. At Salake Lystra the supervisor and Simone and Carla were fabulous. The other staff were great too. At Kali'na Valerie and Dexter were very good. Both Dexter and Carla brought us some mangoes in which we appreciated very much. Dexter made us some mango chow, he said it was a mild version but wow it was spicy, but the thought he put into it was also appreciated. I was a wuss and had to have ice cream to cool my mouth....lol. The pool bar was where the best drinks were made. Adanna and Micah were great. The Tabac bar was very chilled. The pub was ok. The drinks here weren't as good as other places. We walked to the golf clubhouse and three of us went on the driving range. It was good. The pool was lovely. The edge of it could do with a little tidying up as the concrete was stained. I'm being niggly though. Everyone tries very hard to make your stay at the Magdalena Grand a good one. They succeded and we would go back. They have caymen in the lakes here and we saw a couple. We also saw osprey, frigate birds, neo tropical cormorants and others. We used the shuttle bus to Pigeon Point. It was beautiful there but unlike at the hotel, there was no wind and so it's really hot. There are places to eat there. Traditions is great and they play fab music. The breeze at the hotel actually is lovely. The temp was 32 degrees and so the breeze gave you some relief.Everywhere is really clean. I would take the all inc package if you stay. Hope that the charity golf tournament went well xx Oh and please feed the two cats that are there. Thank you xx Read less

Upon arrival the facade of the main entrance is breathtaking and entices you to go inside. Once there, the grandness of this resort is lost. As other reviewers have stated, this resort in dire need of some TLC. The windows which should capture the splendid view needs some cleaning of the salt spray. It's situated on a golf course but the maintenance of the grounds were lacking with grass overgrown in spots. The pool is fine but the surrounding area is in need of good power wash. The room - we found ants all over the room. They made a bee line from the closet to our snacks. The A/C never seemed to go below 85 degree F, so the room was hot. The bathroom has a tiny shower and a separate tub. If you're a larger or tall chap, you may have to maneuver a bit to get a clean shower. There is ample storage for your clothing and a mini fridge and safe is provided. The balcony provided breathtaking views and with a triple paned sliding glass door, at night you couldn't hear it. Staff was hit or miss. And a note to parents, though this a beach front hotel, we found the water super rough and would never advise parents to take their kids down there, It's sad to write such a review since the previous owners, the Hilton, did a fantastic job designing this resort. Unfortunately, without proper maintenance and upkeep, it has lost its lustre. Read less
