I have to say that overall we had a wonderful holiday, and there were lots of positives but plenty of negatives too ! Negatives Reception is grim and desperately needs an overhaul. During the day the service there is terrible , no one really wants to help you with anything ( the night staff are better ) The main restaurant is oppressively hot , you just can’t sit in there , it makes meals quite unpleasant, we suggest ceiling fans should be installed urgently Evening meals are pretty bad with very limited choice this was the first all inclusive where I chose to eat out a number of times and it was way better than eating in The wine is completely undrinkable and we had to go out to buy our own , pretty unacceptable Postives Staff- Most were excellent and very hard working and pleasant to deal with, especially Ms Tasha, Ms Diane , Ms Sharon , but lots of lovely others, Clinton , the fabulous Venuzualan guy who cleans everywhere, the amazing Cuban man who works tirelessly and the fabulous pool guy ( none of whose names I caught ) The island - its amazing , safe and friendly The cleanliness is excellent and the rooms are always immaculate The standard of our room was high , I suspect we had a refurbed room but no complaints about that at all The beach and the pools are lovely , plenty of space and very enjoyable Lunch was good and served in the bar area which was cooler, breakfast itself was good but served in the overheated dining room Drinks other than wine were very good and unlike some resorts strong enough Read less

Fantastic. Staff great. Especially Diane and Gary. Plus Clinton - my man on the omelettes. Tremendous. Food very good. Breakfast amazing. Pool is lovely and the beach adds a cracking addition to the place. Pigeon point very close. Cheers to all from the Robertson tribe including the wee man Taylor who loved his first Tobago experience.

We cannot recommend Tropikist highly enough. Slightly dated 70's decor and ambiance lend itself to a chilled and relaxed atmosphere which lasts the whole time. We cannot recommend Tropikist highly enough. Slightly dated 70's decor and ambiance lend itself to a chilled and relaxed atmosphere which lasts the whole time. Clean and well provided rooms, bathrooms to wash away the suntan lotion, and an abundance of clean towels... We asked for a kettle and a blanket in addition and this was provided immediately. Food- bountiful and delicious. Breakfast was our favourite!! Try the local dishes as well as the more familiar.... Its so worth it. Staff-made the holiday special. Gary-hardest working man ever.... Helpful, courteous. Professional at all times. All the staff work hard to make you feel relaxed and welcome at all times. Location-just gorgeous. Waking up with the sun and the sound of the sea really cannot be over recommended!!! 5min walk from airport 10min walk away from bars and shops We absolutely loved Tobago and will definitely be back AND we will stay at the Tropikist again-we have never stayed at the same place twice before, but this cannot be recommended enough. After being let down by the Thomas Cook collapse and the need to book a holiday quickly due to my holidays dates being fixed, we set about looking for somewhere to go, I was surprised to find a two week holiday in my dates at the Tropikist on Tobago, we like Tobago and had been twice before so we knew that we enjoyed the island immensely. We book two weeks at the Tropikist and had a fantastic Upper class flight with Virgin Airways that was something special thanks to the Boys for sorting that out it was great. Like you will read on a few reviews the reception area is nothing special but it is functional and staffed by some lovely staff who are very helpful, if you talk nicely to people they will do the same to you and tend to be more helpful, we were quickly shown to our upgraded room on the top floor looking over the pool area to the sea, the room was large and fitted with air conditioning a safe even a iron and ironing board oh and a hair dryer so no complaints there, the towel are change when you want them changed and the bedding every other day, so that covers the room. Food was your normal Caribbean food, chicken, pork, fish and beef with rice or potatoes, breakfast was good and lunch was probably the best of all as you have a menu to pick from and it was freshly cooked to order very nice. Drink was plentiful and providing you were able to diversify and not expect what you get at home then you will be fine for me the AI, beer Polar or the local wine is not what I remembered in the past but Carib is fine and Vodka and Orange is a good replacement for most others. Staff, well all I can say is that all the staff at the Tropikist were lovely, Gary is so helpful and is over qualified for the hotel, he is a big bonus to the place, Minty, Tyson, Diane, Mama, and of course the very lovely egg man who cooks your eggs every morning, I can’t think of anything negative about any of them, it’s the same old thing if your nice to people they will be nice to you. For those that have been and have had a reason to complain about the staff, I have seen some of guests and the way that they talk to the staff and to be honest it is embarrassing, the staff can’t do enough for you if you treat them as you would like to be treated. Gary I know you will read this so from Jim and Lorraine I would like to thank you and your team for making our stay so pleasant Read less
