I was a bit nervous about staying here as wasn’t sure what I would find reading other reviews. We paid extra to upgrade to a superior room......completely worth it as they are very modern and absolutely huge. We had a view of the sea and the whole pool and most of the hotel. Beautiful sunsets. My mum had a seafront room on the ground floor in the slightly older part of the hotel as she is in a wheelchair. Her room was also very beautiful a bit older but very cosy and overlooked the sea and you could hear the waves. I almost preferred my mums room. This also had an ultra large bed. Bathroom needed a bit of tic but shower worked great, in our room we had a massive open shower which we loved and a rain style shower head. Towels were changed if we wanted them to be and rooms cleaned every day with bed made etc. They are a little stingy with the complementary wash items which I had read before in a review but it wasn’t a major deal breaker......also as I read as well there is no tea and coffee in the room but you can make it by the bar and take it up to the room which we did every day. My mum is in a wheelchair and although the hotel isn’t geared up for wheelchair access the staff were so helpful and helped my mum everywhere. It was a bit challenging but me and my partner didn’t mind and th staff were so wonderful. When my mum couldn’t come to dinner they asked after her and checked she was ok. It was quite quiet for most of the holiday but got busier the last few days so less sunloungers available but still found it not too hard as many people went to the beach store bay which is 2 min walk down the road. The pool area was really relaxing and you can walk to the little private beach with the hotel and very quiet so nice for a dip. The pool unfortunately did turn our white items green in the beginning but not so much at the end. It was still very refreshing and great swim up bar. We stayed all inclusive so everything included, they make the drinks very strong. It is the basics usual all inclusive options. House wines local beer etc I enjoyed a few too many gin and tonics in the evenings. They did not have plastic bottles of water but you could have soda water in a glass bottle and you can re fill any water bottle you get from elsewhere or there is a large jug in the room we would fill up and put in the fridge which is in each room. I think they are trying to reduce plastic waste perhaps, we didn’t mind anyway. When my mum was too tired to get to dinner you are able to take a plate away with you so we did that for her. The food was amazing when it was quieter we had Al a carte but then when it was busier we had buffet style but equally as delicious. Different cuisines every night. I have a few allergies and my mum I still vegetarian which they catered for very well when we spoke to them the chefs would always come say hi and check everyone was happy with the food, The ladies who served the food were very lovely and helped my mum get to the tables every evening. Always happy to see us. Gary who I know has been mentioned in a lot of reviews was excellent making sure everything ran well and smoothly. The only slight peeve we had was that the bar closed at 10pm which was such a shame as we would have dinner then get comfy playing cards or chatting and then suddenly you couldn’t have any more drinks. This was the only major let down for us and I do think this needs to be changed, I think quite a few quests were annoyed by this. Apart from the bar closing so early we loved our stay and everyone was really helpful including the reception for trip advice and taxis. I think for the price we paid and the fact it is a 3 star hotel it was absolutely fantastic only needs one or two adjustments but is well worth the money. The food was 4 to 5 star though. If you want a party hotel or a lot of liveliness this is not the hotel for you as it is peaceful and relaxing with not too much going on so you can chill and do as much or as little as you like as store bay and pigeon point are not too far. You could hear the planes but they didn’t really bother us and they weren’t very frequent as hotel is very very close to the hotel you can actually see it from the superior room landing. We would probably stay here again, I know my mum definitely would. Thank you for a fantastic stay we really enjoyed our holiday x Read less

My husband and I spent 4 nights here with our 2 children (ages 6 years and 11 years). We took the breakfast only package because Tropikist is walking distance to Store Bay, where one can get a range of local cuisine and home-made ice cream. Two things drove me to make this review - the service and the fact that I got good vegetarian options for breakfast. We usually don't take meal plans in hotels we visit because vegetarian options are almost always poor - often constituting either soup, salad or pasta. Tropikist, however, provided eggless pancakes (which was a treat!) and at least three other vegetarian options for breakfast daily. When we pointed out to manager that I was a vegetarian, he made sure to check in with us later that day to let us know what they would be serving the next day. This made us feel special and we appreciated his thoughtfulness. The vege burger on the lunch menu was also quite nice. The service we received was friendly enough without infringing in our personal space. Even the cleaning staff were super sweet. The pool was one of the highlights of our time there. We have two kids, so we spent most of our time in and around the pool. If you're going there expecting a five-star experience, you will be disappointed - you may have a bit of a wait at the swim-up bar for your drinks. Tropikist is beautiful with good food, sufficient WiFi, comfortable rooms (we got an ocean view room which was gorgeous), a courteous staff, an awesome pool, a scenic (but not suited for swimming) beach and ideal location. If you're traveling with children and you're on a budget, Tropikist is a great option. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend this hotel. Read less

Travelling as a couple and stayed here all inclusive for one week. We did get a transfer from the airport only because we couldn’t be bothered to lug our luggage along the road, and it really is only a 10 min walk. Although there are claims that no aircraft noise can be heard that’s not entirely true but it’s not a problem at all it’s really not that bad. Be prepared to have a long wait going through passport control on arrival, it took an hour! The location of the hotel couldn’t be better, we had a deluxe room with a large balcony overlooking the sea and amazing sunsets. The room was spacious, the air in was too efficient !! And there is a fridge which was stocked with wine, beer and water for your arrival. This does not get replenished. Our room had a super king sized bed. There was always plenty of hot water for showers and housekeeping did a great job keeping the room clean with fresh flower petals and swan shaped towels! There are bottled water stations dotted around the hotel so keep your water bottles that are supplied in your fridge and refill during you stay saves loads of plastic waste. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful (except for one chef, which I will cover later), the pool area and grounds are kept tidy. Pool towels are provided however they are small so I suggest bring your own. We booked our trips through the rep that visited the hotel I’m sure if you shopped around you could get them a little cheaper but we ended up with private tours and our own driver. There is a little shop about a 10 min walk and an ATM should you need it. As I mentioned we were all inclusive, breakfast and lunch were very nice, evening meals were disappointing. Breakfast was buffet style and had hot and cold choices, lunch was served in the restaurant next to the bar and was table service, again choices. Evening meal was served in the restaurant with a set menu of soup or salad (every night) then either a meat, fish or veggie choice and the pudding was cake (the same choc cake decorated differently or ice cream (every night). Which on the face of it doesn’t seem that bad however several times the choices ran out and no alternative offered. One particular night the choice was chicken, fish and the veggie option and 30 mins into service they ran out of chicken and then ran out of cake !! I spoke with the manager who said that she would speak with the chef. I spoke with the chef and he just shrugged his shoulders and said they are busy. Not acceptable. I do understand that there was a new chef arriving so hopefully this will not happen again. Please don’t let this out you off staying at this hotel, it’s definitely worth a visit and will suit families and couples alike. Apart from the small issue above we had a lovely stay here. Read less
