Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa

Nusa Dua, Bali

Virgin rating

The hotel

Living up to its ‘authentically Bali’ mantra, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa feels like a reincarnated Balinese palace. Every element’s lavish, with its three exquisite tree-fringed pools, sumptuous spa, gym, and seven bars and restaurants all adding to the fantastical feel. But nothing’s quite as regal as its grounds, where tropical greenery spills over balconies, tumbles through gardens, and comes to rest on the pure white sands of its beach. The effect’s a serene setting for garden tours, coconut leaf weaving, and traditional dance classes – and for Gecko Club’s child-focused island experiences. Inside its nine hectares, a dramatic temple-like structure splits to reveal an elaborate lily pond festooned with water features; Balinese guest rooms (including Butler-served Club rooms) divulge garden, pool, or beach scenes; and the incredible bamboo web of its double-decked brasserie opens up to hypnotic Indian Ocean views.

Our stay at Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa was amazing. Pros: Great location, perfect beach resort escape… would stay again!! Safe, great security. Right on the beach. Beach is calm, shallow, no waves, kept spotlessly clean daily, and very refreshing to soak in after a day of exploring!! Amazing tree canopy, with sun lounges, on the beach - fully bar serviced. Incredible Tamarind restaurant right on the beach with deck on the sand, under a beautiful tree canopy. Great for lunch and dinner. Amazing sea breezes to cool off with, day and evening! Breakfast buffet was extensive and more than enough to start the day - eggs and omelettes cooked on demand, many pastries, and fresh fruit… everything and always plenty!! Choice of 2 restaurants for lunch and 3 for dinner… all delicious food and great service. Staff are very polite, always attentive, spoke English (mostly), and nothing was too difficult. We had excellent service from Michael at Tamarind. Two great pools, one with sand beach and shady trees… great to lounge in. Excellent walking track along beachfront in wonderful area of five-star hotels. Bali Collection shopping centre 5 mins away, where we had great massage (and cheaper). Many activities available, we rode bikes, swam and did yoga at 7am in the gardens. Checkin process was easy, concierge helpful with queries, and excursions desk great assistance for trips and transportation- very simple to arrange and all inclusive support. The hotel is vast with every service desired. Cons: Room is dated and needs some updating, though entirely comfortable with authentic Balinese heritage style. Unfortunately we can’t swim in the pool after 7pm. The pool police (!) eject everyone by 7pm (ridiculous!!) Brilliant Bali, Amazing Hotel, Friendly staff. Read less

Stayed at the hotel for a wedding (which was spectacular in its own right) Chose the palace lagoon room without knowing to much about it. The room paid for itself on the first day. Great views. Awesome food in the club and the lagoon pool was top notch. Will definitely be back.

We are smitten by the beautiful staff who are perpetually happy to accommodate us. We have been staying here every year for the last 10 years and never get tired of the ambience, which is traditional Balinese settings. The rooms are huge and value for money. Beautiful lobby, restaurants, pools, beach, and grounds. Great food and excellent customer service. However, our room was the same size as we had in 3-star hotels in the region but poorly maintained. The air-conditioner could not cool the room below 25 the first night. After we asked for a fan they fixed it and it worked very well, but it was then too noisy except on low. The once modern lighting control panel had to be pressed 20 or more times to turn on or off the hall light. With all working lights on, the room was still very dark. The patio door they want latched at all times is off-the track so it will not latch. The room needs a serious update. Read less

Thanks Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa for our recent stay. We travelled with a group of family and friends to celebrate my birthday and used the Luxury Escapes packages. We previously visited HDBH&S about 10 years ago and found that the facilities were exactly as we remembered them, the staff were amazing and with the addition of the Tamarind Restaurant, met all our needs. There is plenty of room to allow you to find your own space. The beds and pillows were great and the rooms serviced regularly. We enjoyed lovely food at the range of restaurants and with our Luxury Escapes packages, made the most of our complimentary spa vouchers and add ons. The fitness and activity center is great for those wanting to exercise with tennis, gym, sauna, steam and cold plunge pools (for when you need to cool off). The NDBH&S is close to the golf courses and we played at Bali National, Bukit Pandawa and New Kuta, all of which were less than 30 minutes away. This is one of the original Nusa Dua resorts and has stood the test of time. We look forward to coming back and have no hesitation in recommending it. Read less
