Lory and Paula are absolutely amazing and can't do enough for us. Outstanding. They are so friendly and helpful and it is one of the reasons we choose to return each year. The management should be so proud to have them on their team. Jane is also amazing . Peter at the pool is also great. Rooms are kept really clean and tidy. Hats off to the housekeeping team. In fact we found all of the staff very accommodating. We have a wonderful beach view and it is totally amazing to watch the beautiful sunsets and the dolphins entertaining the people walking on the beach. It's a six star rating from us. Read less

The Resort at Longboat Key Club has two locations. The hotel rooms are located in several buildings which are either right on the beach, over looking a lagoon, or overlooking a golf course. We chose a renovated room in Building 3, which was right on the beach, overlooking the crystal waters and powdery white sand. In just a few steps, you can be collecting shells, swimming, taking a beach yoga class with Erica, or lounging by the pool. People rave about the beach at Siesta Key, which does have fabulous sand, but there is nothing that compares with the beauty and privacy at this resort. The pool and beach staff are attentive and delightful, and make the effort to get to know you a bit if you're there for a few days. Jane even found some great shells which she set up artistically on our lounges. The poolside drinks are not the highlight of the experience. I don't really like beer, but that will be my go-to next time. The spa is also in this constellation of buildings. Patty did a very nice job with my facial and the spa experience was altogether relaxing and luxurious. We had a renovated junior suite overlooking the ocean (and the remarkable sunsets). The balcony had two sections, one for eating and one for lounging, there was lots of room to move around, three closets and many, many drawers, so you really had the feeling of living in a small luxury apartment, not a hotel room. The small kitchen is well-equipped, including a dish washer and washer/dryer, and even a blender. Although the beach-view rooms are more expensive, hearing the sound of waves from your balcony and seeing the sun shine on the clear water and pristine white-sand beach is priceless. The second part of the resort is located 3 miles up the island. Tennis is free with the resort fee (a bargain at $24, especially since there is no fee for parking, which is convenient). There are three golf courses, and lots or tennis courts. There is also a large marina and two restaurants. There is a nice pool overlooking the marina and a small shop with reasonable prices, but if you want to have an afternoon beverage, you need to go to the Tavern overlooking the golf course. Because the resort is undergoing renovations, two of the three restaurants in the residential area were closed. In normal circumstances, the third restaurant, the Spike and Tee, is intended for breakfast and lunch, and the addition of a dinner seating was obviously a strain on everyone. There was also confusion about the hours of operation. No one wants to be that family that keeps the staff beyond the time they had intended to go home. The main resort lobby was also under construction, which meant that there wasn't really any place to just sit and relax with a newspaper, or with a beverage. The library was also closed, so, that luxurious resort experience of strolling to different locations was not available. After the first day, we received an e-mail asking us to rate our experience. I took the opportunity to describe our uncomfortable dinner experience and some small challenges, such as difficulty getting ice when our ice maker was not working. Ryan, the hospitality manager was instantly responsive, and went out of his way to make sure we had a delightful visit. I didn't give the resort 5 stars because I felt that the guest experience during the renovation could have been better thought out. For example, I would have appreciated a temporary restaurant or lounge on the pool deck to provide a resort lunch and afternoon experience at the beach location. Still, I will definitely return when all the renovations are complete. The location is spectacular visually, there are very good restaurants on the key, and in nearby St Armand's circle and in Sarasota proper. The feeling on Longboat Key is relaxed, not touristy, and zoned to maintain the natural beauty of the key. Read less

Renovations are going on but staff went above and beyond to make us aware and accommodate. Everything from our beachfront room, the restaurants, and location of the resort was perfect. I want to mention the beach staff in particular Jane, Adam and Zach. They greeted us everyday with a smile and top notch service. The bar staff including Ed, Savannah and Cheryl were the best too. I highly recommend this property if you are looking at visiting this area. We definitely will be returning sooner than later.😎 Read less

We spent a week here in January. Starting with the Bellman Dean, and then Housekeeping, every staff person was there to assist us and could not have been better. The renovated room was lovely and comfortable but with many items that did not work although engineering came many times to try and fix the problems. The pool was open most days but there was a lot of construction noise from the building next door to the pool. It was inconvenient stepping over construction material and having to wait for the one elevator while it was being used by construction staff. The most aggravating grievance, however, had nothing to do with the renovation. It was the fees. They charge a "resort fee" of $25.00 per day thinking that we won't know how much the room really costs. That is insulting enough, but then they charge an additional $20.00 for an umbrella on the beach. We would have had a better feeling for our stay with The Resort if we weren't insulted by these tacky fees. Read less
