We are finishing up our 5 night stay. We staying in a new renovated studio and the room is very nice. Great layout and use of space. Having a washer/dryer is a game changer as we could wash out swim suits each evening. The full kitchen is very nice. The bathroom is huge. The staff here makes the resort. If you need food/drinks, Paula and Anna do an amazing job of taking care of resort guests. You can tell they love their job. Hannah at the pool was amazing. She worked so hard making sure everyone had towels, umbrellas and chairs. She always was smiling. She must be the hardest working employee onsite. The beach was great. The sand is super white and soft. The greenish/blue color of the ocean reminds me of the Caribbean. Some days there was no wind and the ocean was flat as glass. We rented kayaks two days and loved it. We were able to see manatees and dolphins up close. Due to COVID, there is no maid service but if you text or call, someone will deliver what you need quickly. There is still construction by the pool and it can be heard throughout the day. Once completed, the new lobby and restaurant will be beautiful. We will 100% stay here again. Read less

After more than 20 trips we are giving up on this resort, and all Opal properties! We have been coming to this resort for more than 15 years but we now find their beach policies less than welcoming. The Opal Collection of resorts has chosen to contract with a beach vendor with ridiculous policies regarding lounge chairs and umbrellas. This vendor does not allow any umbrellas or lounge chairs to be down by the water. Instead lounges and umbrellas are set up more than 100 feet from the high tide water line. This setback means that the cooling sea breezes are instead a blast of furnace-like hot air. The rationale give was "changing wind direction" as if this beach is different from any of the countless beaches that line both coasts of Florida. I don't want to carry umbrellas to the beach and I can afford the additional charges for beach chairs and umbrellas, I just want to sit close to the water! After bringing a personal umbrella down to the water-line, we were threatened with both the police and being removed from the resort. As a Florida resident for more than 30 years, I know the mean-high tide line and below are considered public property and the line is even broader if the beach has been re-nourished, as has Longboat Key. Sadly, the resort was willing to blame their vendor and continued to threaten more than 10 families. After more than 20 trips we are giving up on this resort, and all Opal properties! Read less

Room was clean, beach staff was excellent. Jane and Zach on the beach made us feel right at home. Make sure to check for beach packages when you make your reservation. Because of COVID the staff was wearing masks, but they WERE wearing them.

Ocean and sand are gorgeous! Spent most of our time there. Love the fact it's not a public beach. Staff friendly. Room very nice with an awesome ocean view. Parking was great. Can't wait to see it after renovations. We will be returning.

Maybe this will be nice once the reno is done but in the meantime I would rather just stay at the Ritz in Sarasota. Read less
