TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
This was our 3rd stay at Maroma. We stayed for 14 nights in january. The standard of the resort has been maintained for each of our 3 visits over the last 4 years. The food is still of the highest... Read more standard of any all inclusive I have stayed at and the dinks still flow at the usual rate. Once again its the staff that make this resort and is therefor the main reason we return. I wish I could name all the staff that made our trip great as they all work hard to make your stay a memorable one. The entertainment team are the best. Al, Miguel, 'big willie', Mani are just some of the team that go the extra mile to ensure you are never to far away from having fun!! We recomend the Affair show and the Beatles show. Superbowl party experience was the best!! Awesome job!! The condition of the hotel and its grounds are just as good as the first time we visited 4 or 5 years ago. The garderners and the maintainence team do a fantastic job. We love all of the resturaunts but our favourites were the Italian and Himitsu. Remember, if you think the portion sizes are smaller than your usual, you can order as much as you like. This was our first visit in the 'Peak' january season and so were suprised to see very large corporate groups (of up to 300 delegates) using the hotel facilities. This did affect the atmosphere some days with the pool areas and activities having no one around to take part. It also affected going our for dinner in the evenings. This hotel promotes a no reservation policy but does allow the corporate groups to pre book for dinner and this sometimes resulted in them taking over entire resturaunts. After 3 days of being turned away from resturaunts for dinner we raised the issue with the food and beverage management and the problem was resolved swiftly. The management team worked hard to ensure we (six friends) could eat together most nights. Javier was excellent at ensuring that the rest of the vacation went smoothly. AM Resorts should review their policy on corportae group sizes if they wish to keep regular tourists happy. Overall this small negative did not impact on what was once again a fantastic trip at a great resort. Use the spa facilities, they are fantastic and never pay full price for a treatment. Anything can be negotiated and so aim for 20 -25% off if you go at an off peak time of day. Great staff, great food, great experince. We will be back..... Read less
After spending 11 nights at Secrets Maroma last December I'm still in two minds as to whether I would go back in the future. There were some great aspects to our holiday but a couple of areas which... Read more let it down in my opinion. The initial room we were given had a severe ant problem however upon complaining staff were sent to fumigate the room and we were promptly moved to another despite it being late at night. The following day we were offered a beach cabana (worth $40) as a token gesture for the inconvenience. To this end we were more than happy. The new room could not be faulted and was actually in a better location than the original so all worked out well. The restaurants were a bit hit and miss - the Italian was awful, but on the other hand Himitsu and Bordeaux were excellent and would happily have paid money for these had they been a normal restaurant. Drinks could not be faulted throughout all the resort bars - all premium branded and large measures. The evening shows at the theatre were also great and again would happily pay money for these as standalone events. The calibre of the singers and dancers is very high. The pools, surrounding gardens, and beach are all beautiful and well maintained. My only real criticism is regarding the overly attentive service. I go on holiday to relax, not be pestered at every opportunity as to whether I'm enjoying my stay and if the concierge can do anything for us. I guess this is the kind of service that Americans expect but I found it a little intrusive and the 'it's my pleasure' response to everything you said thank you for was sometimes a little disingenuous. If you're willing to accept a couple of mediocre meals, then all in all the pros definitely outweigh the cons and is worth a stay for you to make up your own mind. PS Book a beach cabana and be waited on hand on foot for a truly relaxing day on one of the most beautiful beaches. Read less

Excellent restaurants. Beautiful beaches. But best of all.... what's most important to me - the amazing staff!!!! From housekeepers to groundsmen. From masseuse to servers. Front desk to bell desk. First class people in every way!!! Lety, our conference services manager. Carlos, our chief concierge. Roberto, bell captain. I can't say enough. Best ever!! In all of my 25 years. This is my third time to this property. Twice I have hosted a customer incentive trip for 150 - 200 people and once was for a personal vacation. I can say that all three times my expectations were... Read more not only met but exceeded. The service and facilities are absolutley first class. The typical shortfall of an all - inclusive resort is the food and adult beverage selection but not at this resort. The food is fantastic and the adult beverages are all top shelf which is why this All Inclusive resort is rated 5 Diamonds. I have no reservation in personally recomending this resort to family, friends and anyone else who ask's " where to go". So far they are batting a 1,000 with me! Read less
This resort is very intimate and romantic but yet it has many activities. My favorite was the daily Tennis lesson with Oscar Vivar the Tennis Coach. He is a first class instructor….I am 4.0 player in... Read more the US and I highly encourage all Tennis lovers that come to visit, to take privates with him....The price is a lot more affordable then in the US. The Food is excellent, very fresh and beautifully presented. The Ceviche at the Pool Restaurant is delicious. Jaime, the Maitre d' was specially accommodating by special ordering us Churro's and have them ready for our next lunch. Israel , our sever was cordial and always happy. The morning Buffet is a delight with fresh fruit and vegetable juices and all sort of healthy choices as well more traditional American items. The service is excellent and well run. The Maitre d' there is Edgar (is think that is his name) is always very attentive and carries his work with pride….he reminds me of European butler. The Beach was clean and well kept and with plenty places to relax and activities of all sorts. The Night shows are the best I have seen in Cancun's Resorts. They really strive to deliver high quality shows every night. Do not miss them! Over all a great vacation! Read less
