I had the chance to spend a relaxing weekend at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr. I brought my family with me to try out their huge swimming pool and magnificent beaches, and it was worth the visit. It's a great place to relax your tired body and mind. I'm looking forward to spending another relaxing day in this beautiful hotel.

Stayed with family in early January, and although there wasn’t much to warrant significant complaint, when compared to the standard of hotels in Abu Dhabi there were just too many little things that on their own, aren’t much of an issue but added together at the end of the holiday, they do start to weigh on the overall rating. Bit disappointed first off when we asked for quiet rooms on a high floor and were given rooms facing the pool which certainly was not quiet! The rooms themselves were very spacious and nicely decorated although there was a real lack of storage space and the WiFi signal to the room was incredibly poor and WiFi is something you take as read in any high-end hotel these days. The condition of the room was largely immaculate and to their credit, it is impossible to fault the housekeeping staff who were quick, efficient and did a fantastic job. Breakfast was excellent, a great selection and it never ran out. Generally there was enough space to be seated upon arrival although on busy days near to the end so do bear that in mind. For dinner, the quality was excellent and space was never an issue (the times were also very generous) although the selection wasn’t huge and did begin to repeat after a couple of nights. The big issue was when it came to the gala dinner: we had booked for half board, to include an option of lunch or dinner and were not told by the hotel that the gala dinner did not include this. I do accept that this was not totally the hotel’s fault as there was the travel agent acting as an intermediary but I think this is something the hotel should have contacted the agent to sort out and not force us to miss a dinner. They did to their credit send a small token to the room later that night, but this didn’t solve the main problem of not having dinner! The pool/beach area was large and generally had enough beds, though there was an issue with people reserving copious numbers of beds for very long times, so it would have been nice if there was a policy to discourage this. The gym was large and reasonably well equipped although it was built so the sun came in all during the day and made it unbearably warm, not helped by the air conditioning being relatively weak. A number of the treadmills also appeared to be consistently temperamental. Overall, a nice stay but compared to the standard of other similar hotels in Abu Dhabi, the gala dinner situation and little inadequacies here and there just took the gloss off the stay - but certainly a more than passable option and somewhere I recommend, just not perhaps as first choice. Very nice hotel Great bed, good WiFi (you can cast your device to the tv which is good), great shower Bar downstairs is ok There is just nothing around the hotel, the nearest place to eat is in ‘the souk’ but that’s pretty rubbish Apart from that very good
