Fairmont Ajman

Ajman, Dubai Beaches and beyond

Virgin rating

The hotel

Fairmont’s fabulous outpost in Ajman, this luxury beachfront retreat brings all the glamorous décor, gourmet dining, and grand amenities you’d expect from a Fairmont — in a setting you might not expect in the UAE. The next big name in the emirates, Ajman may be 30 minutes from Dubai, but it’s poles apart in its subtlety and serenity. The Fairmont’s arrival to its palm-swept beachline signals Ajman’s ready to compete with its neighbours. A grand getaway, it brings eight restaurants and lounges (taking you from Italy to the Caribbean), an infinity pool fringing a private stretch of sand, and an activity list that covers everyone in the family, from those after spa treatments to those who’d prefer splashing about on a floating off-shore water park (and even little guests who’d prefer making sandcastles at their kids’ club).

Did not disappoint! Fabulous hotel and staff! From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The staff excelled themselves. Our room wasn’t ready when arrived (we didn’t expect it as we arrived at 9.30am). However the lady at reception showed us where to change and guided us in the direction of the pool until it was ready. Jude on the towel counter welcomed us and gave us a run down as to where to go. The next day he welcomed us by name and always had a lovely chat with us. We booked a junior suite, it was amazing, once we’d discovered all of the wardrobes (clever panelling in the walls!) The bed was huge and very very comfy. Mark our housekeeper made sure we had everything we needed. It was very quiet, we didn’t hear a sound from other rooms or the corridor from our room. Our only slight grumble was the lack of bars open. The beautiful reception area would’ve been perfect to have a g&t in before dinner. Food in all restaurants was excellent, even the buffet. All fresh and very tasty. We enjoyed the relaxed Turkish restaurant where the chicken kebab was delicious. The Italian was equally as good. I highly recommend the seafood pasta dish. We were all inclusive and didn’t want for anything. We travelled into Dubai one day, the hotel shuttle was full so we had a taxi 170AED each way. It took about an hour to get to the Jumeira beach area. It was a bit hair raising at times! We will definitely return, maybe next time having a few days in Dubai first, then a relax at the Fairmont after. We can’t not mention the brilliant guys at the pool bar - Daniel, Faizan, Rodney (soon to have a cocktail named after him) and Ganga. Their service and dedication to their job should be rewarded! They are a credit to the Hotel and certainly made our stay more enjoyable. Read less

Readers should know I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world, and having lived in UAE, my own standards and expectations are very high. I now live in the UK, and chose this hotel as I needed to have some time recover from a very bad bout of COVID. From the minute I arrived in this hotel, I knew I had chosen the right place. The staff make this hotel and the experience. On my very early arrival at 07.30am, I was told that suite was ready. The room on the 2nd floor overlooked the sea and I felt immediately relaxed and happy. I settled in well to this hotel. Every staff member who sees you says hello or Good Morning/Afternoon. They are gracious, discreet but very service orientated without being overbearing. There were so many staff members who looked after me on this holiday. Pool/beach side, there were the lovely lifeguards Eric and Yusef who would spring into action if I wanted my umbrella up or down and who would suggest moving beds for me to get more sun when they discovered I love sunbathing. Thank you to them for making me come home with a lovely tan :-) A huge thank you to Osama, the Salt & Sea poolside waiter who literally couldn't do enough for me and ensured I had everything I wanted and needed, and was so attentive that after a nap, he would come and ask if I wanted a drink! This man works so hard to ensure his guests are happy and well looked after - no one works harder than him. Thank you Osama - I miss my 11.45am white wine spritzer!!! For breakfast, I have to thank the young Hamze who used to bring me my morning coffee, and the most delicious fresh omelettes made by a Nepalese chef whose name I did not get. In the evenings, the Italian restaurant Gioia became my very favourite and every evening I was greeted by the lovely ladies Ganga and Fittria and Habib who made me my lovely cocktails! I also thank Hana the new Vietnamese beautician at the spa and Dino, my room attendant who ensured I had everything I needed and more - both wonderful. This hotel is made by the staff and all speak of being happy which is a testament to management and the running of this hotel. I can't wait to come back in 2 weeks and spend more time with my Fairmont Ajman family! See you soon and thank you for my solo holiday so special. Read less
