Fairmont Ajman

Ajman, Dubai Beaches and beyond

The hotel

Fairmont’s fabulous outpost in Ajman, this luxury beachfront retreat brings all the glamorous décor, gourmet dining, and grand amenities you’d expect from a Fairmont — in a setting you might not expect in the UAE. The next big name in the emirates, Ajman may be 30 minutes from Dubai, but it’s poles apart in its subtlety and serenity. The Fairmont’s arrival to its palm-swept beachline signals Ajman’s ready to compete with its neighbours. A grand getaway, it brings eight restaurants and lounges (taking you from Italy to the Caribbean), an infinity pool fringing a private stretch of sand, and an activity list that covers everyone in the family, from those after spa treatments to those who’d prefer splashing about on a floating off-shore water park (and even little guests who’d prefer making sandcastles at their kids’ club).

Splashed out on a suite and worth every penny. Great sized rooms with stunning sunsets. Hotel staff first class and restaurant supplied nicely presented selection of meals. Sanjay, Indian Chef, made special meals for us. Wish I could afford to hire him!

My husband and I went on our first Holiday to Dubai and stayed at the Ajman for 12 nights in August 2019. We wanted an all inclusive deal and the Fairmont Ajman was recommended by Virgin Holidays. Its fair to say that we thought Ajman was much closer to Dubai centre that it actually is but given how hot it was on our visit we couldn't venture out too much anyway. The hotel provides free bus services to the Dubai Mall and other places which gave us a great chance to see what we wanted and get out of the sun for a while. Everything about the hotel was excellent. The staff we amongst the most helpful and friendliest we've experienced, they could not do enough for you. Special shout out to Daniel (Pool Bar), Shiney (Restaurant), Usman (Turkish Restaurant) and Nita (Cave Bar). If I had a criticism, it would be the limited choice of alcohol on the all inclusive package, I felt that this could have been better. We arrived at 8.30am and amazingly there was a deluxe room ready for us which was lovely. The food in the main buffet restaurant and Italian restaurant was excellent albeit on the all inclusive package, lunch in the Italian did get a bit repetitive. The food in the Turkish restaurant was sublime. Make sure you are hungry when you visit as the food it plentiful. I think the hotel is mainly frequented by people on short stay holidays and corporate bookings however that made no difference to us. I have 2 negatives that I need to highlight - during our trip there was a holiday for Islamic New Year which meant it was a dry day from 7pm on Saturday to 7pm on Sunday. We have absolutely no problem with that as it's a law that needs to be observed but we had no knowledge of this custom until my husband asked on the Friday at the Sports Bar if they could show Scottish Sunday football. He was told that the bar had to close due to the holiday so not only could he not have a drink, he couldn't watch his beloved team in a big match. It would have been helpful for the hotel to make guests aware of the dry day as we could have planned our trips out of the hotel around it. You somehow feel cheated when you are all inclusive and can't get alcohol. The second negative occurred as we were leaving the hotel. As part of our Virgin Holiday, we had complementary transfers to and from the airport in the hotels dedicated cars. After checking out we sat for half an hour waiting on our car and on asking I was told by a slightly grumpy concierge that there was nothing booked for us and in all honesty he didn't seem to care. This was despite us confirming all the transfer details with reception the day before. Eventually a manager got involved and admitted that our transfer booking had been missed and then fixed it for us. Luckily we got to the airport on time. All in all we had a great time at the Fairmont Ajman and I would definitely return. Read less
