Went to this hotel for the sunset dining at the beach house for my wife's 30th birthday. Incredible spread of food and great wine. Beautiful location in a very relaxed setting. Stunning views of the sunset. Staff very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend.

We stayed for 10 nights in May with half the trip in a Lagoon Access Room and the other half in a one bed Over Water Villa. The resort was delightful, skilfully crafted as a Thai-style resort - mainly low-rise with plenty of greenery. If you want glitz and glamour, by all means go to Atlantis, but if you want rest and relaxation in under-stated luxury, stay at the Anantara at the Palm. The lagoon access room was brilliant......instead of going each day to the main pool, the lagoon access rooms are set in two storey buildings with the lower rooms having direct access to the huge lagoons. The rooms were spacious and beautifully maintained with a real sense of space and Thai influenced décor. The one bedroom over water villa was a further level of luxury that was superb and even more peaceful. A detached abode set at the edge of the beach, each villa was beautifully appointed and even featured a glass viewing window in the floor so you could see the ocean and its inhabitants below your feet. Whilst you don't have direct access to the lagoons or even the sea from the villa, both are less than a one minute walk away. The restaurants at the hotel were superb...we experienced Crescendo (good varied buffet style food in a large dining room), Mekong (superb food and table service), the Beach House (directly on the beach) and Bushmans (Aussie steak restaurant) - all were really very good quality and so pleased we took the half board option as there was plenty of variety even over 10 days. Whilst the environment of the resort was superb, what sets this hotel above many others we have visited is the service and attention to detail from everyone who works there, from bell boys to management. You are treated as royalty. Special thanks to Aziz our Villa host who looked after us so well and also Mr Bakas who was a fantastic ambassador for Anantara. We will be back as own grown up children also want to experience it soon!! Read less
