From start to finish the experience was first class. The staff are so friendly that comes across in such a genuine way. Special thanks to Dilshan for his actions when it rained in ensuring our clothing didn’t get too wet. And it certainly rained!! Highly recommended

We stayed here for a week in a superior room. Our was very comfortable and spacious with a large seating area and a bathroom with both a bath and shower. The hotel has a number of swimming pools; we never had difficulty finding sun loungers. If you prefer the sea hotel grounds adjoin a large sandy beach where you can swim in the sea. The hotel has a large number of restaurants covering most cuisines. Our favourite was the Indian call Indya. You can also eat in the restaurants in the sister hotel, the Grosvenor House. A free shuttle bus runs between the hotels. Overall we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The service was always excellent whether in the restaurants or by the pool. My only complaint was beating music that was often played in a number of the restaurants and by the pool areas. Read less

Stayed here as part of a family trip, including the older, the younger (less than 2) and the 30-something’s. Beach view room with breakfast. Having been to Dubai before, this was a let down. Or rather, it wasn’t what I expected from a property claiming “5 stars” in comparison to others we’ve visited (The Ritz-Carlton, Burj Al Arab, Jumeriah Beach Hotel and Sofitel). Some are different leagues, but all claim 5* (except BAAs reputed 7*) The reason? Price. It doesn’t guarantee better or worse, but it’s a good indicator and Le Royal Meridien offered a good deal. Value is all relative. Pros - Friendly check-in, made a fuss of the littlest traveler and offered water/refreshments - Reasonably speedy lifts, no long waiting to get anywhere (Jumeriah Beach Hotel, take note) - Comfy, big, beds albeit in smaller rooms - Daily fruit was a nice touch - Good location for JBR walk, access to restaurants and fun for the tiny traveler - House car was only a small premium above Dubai taxis, and meant we could all travel in a 9 person vehicle - Room service/pool food quality was reasonable and not insanely expensive Cons - Music is constant. It’s going to appeal to a clientele who enjoy the boom-boom-boom, but it wasn’t for us. It’s an attempt to entice guests to open their wallets for the “party”. Cheaper rooms, then make it back in alcohol. Can’t fault the logic. Weekends are worse, with the nearby Zero Gravity going through until the morning, and brunch on Friday is like a bit of Benidorm-in-the-desert. - Lots of staff, no real service. Everyone is having a bad day. Need to go and find people to take orders/request menus/ask for towels, even when there are lots of people around. No-one actively engages except front-of-house who were very good - Paying 15AED for water around the pool is simple profiteering - Terrible noise insulation. Balcony door didn’t seal tight on any of the rooms, hear running water in the pipes to other rooms, noise seeps through from the hallway, banging in the rooms above etc. - Personal taste, “trendy” decor that is more style over substance in material quality. I’d compare it a W in New York - Bathroom wasn’t overly clean, sealant needs a good scrub - Lower price means a bit more variety of patronage and behaviour - Breakfast was large but varying quality. Fresh fruit options were limited/canned. Patisserie choices were reasonable, but the croissants were almost all inedible. - No pork. Totally understandable and culturally appropriate, but if every other 5* hotel does it this feels inconsistent with the competition Overall, it’s difficult to rate this versus other hotels in Dubai or globally, without looking at two consistent variables across all of them; price and star rating. Price-wise, the experience was about average, possibly a little on the disappointing side. Star rating? Definitely not a 5* property. Improve the staff around the pool, sort out the noise and don’t penny-pinch charging for water. Read less

we came here as a family of four just to use the pool and beach, so no details on the hotel itself... lovely place to bring the kids for a relaxing day by the pool and beach. Lots of sun beds, friendly staff, good food and nice drinks. Came back a second day, so no need to say more. Thumbs up for Oscar working at the pool bar :)
