My wife & I stayed at The Waldorf Astoria for 7 nights to celebrate her birthday. Our travel agent suggested the suite & it turned out to be a brilliant choice. Well worth paying the extra. The room was massive with a balcony overlooking the sea & views of Burj Al Arab in the distance. We dined at the Mezzerie Restaurant every night & being vegetarians Chef Rahul & his team really looked after us. The Mezzerie staff were brilliant & the following names deserve a mention - Aigerim, Anusha, Riaz, Mary & Prajul. By the second day they knew us by our first names & the table we preferred to sit at. The hotel felt very safe in these Covid times with staff politely reminding you to wear a mask. We stayed by the adult pool where Rahul was super efficient. Its a smaller pool but big enough to swim lengths. Plenty of sun loungers here and even more so if you wanted to to be on the beach. Our first time in Dubai in December & it turned out to be very pleasant indeed weather-wise. Thank you Waldorf for a memorable experience. Read less

We stayed 5 nights and this was our 6th visit so a favourite of ours. We like to mix Dubai up if we can with staying nights in the city & beach. On arrival after being so excited about coming back - we were so disappointed with our room - a bit worn with stains on counter tops and overlooking the power plant. Room starting to show a bit tired with hotel being open 8 years. Reception did sort the problem but I felt this could have been handled in a more professional manner. I felt so awkward about this and I’m not a difficult customer. However after a ‘Rocky’ start our stay just got better and better. The January sun was brilliant and the pool staff, Palm Avenue staff ( particularly Dara) were so eager to help. Dara was concerned my husband had lost his sunglasses and was trying to find them. Glad to report we found them ( in our room all the time!) This really is one of the WA, The Palm’s best assets - The adult pool & beach area are amazing. Breakfast is a feast to behold and was better than our visit 2 years ago. We were warmly welcomed by Sam who remembered us from previous visits even with our masks on. Sam is such a lovely little lady with a huge amount of customer service & personality. She must be one of the WA’s best staff. Mary, Irosh & Salil made our breakfast encounters very special. Thank you. They really aimed to please. We really loved breakfast and sitting outside. This time there was a Falcon so no birds were swooping down on your food, dishes when you left the table. We did the little boat trip from the beach round The Burj Al Arab - 500 Dirhams for 30 mins - boat takes 5 people. We did this near sunset and was an absolute highlight. The company was Seawake water sports and they are on the beach at the hotel. The captain was really lovely and I would definitely recommend. We will definitely return to WA, The Palm - thank you for a lovely start to 2022! - I would have given 5 stars but there was the room problem at the start. Read less

Overall the standard of service at the hotel was very good but there were small areas of improvement that could be made (hence a score of 4 rather than 5). Try wife is vegan and the team in the main restaurant (Mezzerie) were brilliant and they always had a good selection of options available for her. We ate in the Social restaurant on one evening and the food was extremely good. Again, the chef was great and made a special vegan main course that was delicious. Overall a nice stay. Read less
