JW Marriot Marquis Dubai Having avoid this property for 2 years due to continuous and numerous problems including my guaranteed and prepaid room been given to someone else on two occasions despite my Platinum Lifetime memberships at the time, I decided to give it another chance this week and what a mistake that was! The week started well apart from the usually niggling issues at this property, i.e. no amenities and laundry bags/slips replaced or replenished daily as used, which means I have to use my own and the hotel also loses revenue as I am able to send my laundry daily. However, 2 days before my scheduled check-out date I received a call on my mobile at approx.. 6:30pm to ask my what time I had intended to check out that day as I have exceeded the 4pm late check-out benefit and that they needed my room! The young man addressed me in a rude attitude and would not accept the fact that my check-out date was two days later. As I was on my phone and in my clients car I couldn’t check my booking whilst on the phone but knew he was incorrect. He instructed me to get to the hotel ASAP! Yes, instructed me! As soon as I got off the phone I checked my booking and yes, I was correct. Furthermore, it was a no cancellation prepaid booking. I call the hotel aback and spoke to a lady in the executive lounge and told her I had a booking and that they were wrong. She said my booking was not as I stated and that she needed 10 mins to look into it. I told her to call me back no later than 10 mins and she agreed – she never bothered to call me back! I arrived at the hotel 30 mins later will no call. I was with my client on the way to a business dinner, so I had to cancel the appointment and took a cab back to the hotel. When I eventually arrived in the executive lounge they informed be it was their error but refused to tell me what happened. I demanded to know who had physically changed my reservation and why? They said it was a human error but would not go into details. I found this totally unacceptable. The duty manager and his side kick also turned up and avoided all my questions. I asked them if they knew my previous history in this property and if they are doing these things as a vendetta against me. I just can’t be that unlucky in a single property! The management has not learnt from their past problems and should resign. The issue starts at the top and there is no leadership here. The hotel is obviously too big for their capabilities and they would be more suited to a Courtyard Marriott and Moxy type environment. This cock-up cost me money (international roaming calls, transport and a lost business dinner and perhaps future business/revenue), as well as stress and total embarrassment in front of my customer. My client and colleagues must have thought I was incompetent for making the wrong booking! The fact remains, it was the hotel who are incompetent and not me, yet I and my business suffered for it. The apologises weren’t acceptable or indeed genuine. The young man who called me was still giving me a rude attitude when I spoke to him at the hotel. Sadly, they don't care. This was meant to be a celebration of ‘2,000th’ night at a Marriott property in the last 19 years (that's 5.5yrs in a Marriott). So much for my loyalty and been a Lifetime Titanium Member! Read less

Although, staff will point you in the right direction should you get lost. Also it can get busy. If you prefer a quieter area, the business lounge for breakfast is must smaller and quieter. There’s a shuttle bus that takes you to Dubai Shopping Mall and runs every thirty minutes. Very handy and it’s free. I would stay there again. Read less

I thoroughly enjoyed my short 4-night stay at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai. The hotel and suites are truly spectacular, making this one of the outstanding hotels of the world. The entire staff of the Executive Lounge are an amazing group of dedicated individuals who provide outstanding and personal care. I happened to have timed my birthday with my visit to the hotel and was surprised by the celebration staged by the Executive Lounge staff complete with birthday cake, candle, and a beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday to You. Thank you so much! I especially want to thank and recognize Jan, Chinmay, Binoy, Akshai, Ajim, Chris, Mohan, Ajmair, and all of the chefs of the Executive Lounge. All of the services provided were outstanding and I will be looking forward to my future visits to this really magnificent hotel. Read less
