DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island

Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai Beaches and beyond

The hotel

For travellers who aren’t satisfied with a simple ‘one pool, one bar, one restaurant’ kind of holiday, this island escape overflows with choice. Its private white sand beach accompanies seven fabulous swimming pools, including a pirate-themed aqua zone for children to cool off on sun-soaked Marjan Island. It has 12 places to drink and dine, from family-style Italian Vespa to the gastropub food and fun of The Anchor, and the Arabic snacks and shisha of ShoFee Rooftop Bar. And, while the beachfront setting, eforea spa, and contemporary styling of Doubletree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island attract couples and groups of friends, families get the bonus of the kids’ club’s climbing wall, Arcade Zone, and huge playground with its climbing structures, trampolines and shaded toddler area.

We've currently stayed at the Double tree marajan for 5 nights with our 7 month old after hearing great things from friends. Also with main Dubai being $$$ kids wanting food and drink all the time this really is a great hotel for them. Located an hour outside of main Dubai it still offers everything main Dubai does. There are 3 packages of all inclusive. All inclusive Dine around Be exclusive. Have a google you'll understand the different levels. FOOD We kept to the all inclusive and had breakfast lunch and dinner in the buffet. Food was yummy and catered to everyone, apart from those with a milk intolerance. As there was only full fat and skimmed milk. No soya or almond. Like all hotels do they have a themed night every night to offer variety. The staff were amazing and loved our JP. Special thanks to Suci and her team who fussed over him every meal time, he loves the ladies. All staff were polite helpful. ROOM Be aware like all hotels check in is not till the afternoon. All though we requested via email an early check in for having a 7 month old they couldn't fulfill the request. They offered us an upgrade with room wifi and surprise surprise they had a room free. The location of the room wasn't great and ask questions of the location of it. We had a ground floor near the main front door of the building, not great for those with babies or kids because of people being loud all night to the early hours. Jen at reception was amazing when I explained the issue and moved us to another room. Best location up a level away from the lift in the corner. Room was nice, bath was enormous and hot water kept going. GYM Gym lovers this is a good gym I managed to do all my planned workouts whilst away. 24 hour access must take your room key. POOL Amazing! The adult pool was closed due to being refurbed but the other pools were great. They have a kids pool for the right temp for babies. There is a life guard on every pool. There is also a pirate ship with slides, buckets everything kids love! EVENING ENTERTAINMENT Sadly this hotel doesn't offer any in the evening. Not sure because its their quieter months? KIDS CLUB AMAZING!!! Again JP got loads of attention, were he is at the stage of semi crueling and not wanting to sit still in his buggy we done tummy time and sit ups. This place is kitted out with amazing stuff, arts and crafts, play station, Disney movies, climbing wall, kids outdoor play ground and swimming pool. You can also use their sitting services up till 9pm at night. BEACH Not a sandy beach very pebbly but a beautiful long stretch of it. Hammocks available and a swing for those Instagram moments. OVERALL We would 100% come back again next January as JP will be able to do more things. The staff were amazing, the food was great. Would love more choice of beers and spirits as a coronoa is £12! And not included. Amstel and another brand. Thank you for a lovely stay Double Tree x Read less

Cons: Service is not that of a 5*.We complained to reception about noisy guests next door to our room, they barely bothered to listen to us, just said they would tell security to speak to the guests and they never bothered to ask us if it had improved, which it didn't.The hotel is packed with kids so not as relaxing if you don't have them, even the adults pool is surrounded by the kids zone. The all inclusive is very confusing, everyone has a different band on.We were bay club dine around which seemed to be when booking the most premium option as we wanted everything to be all inclusive but when we got there, it wasn't,there were restrictions. For dinner, you could only choose from a set menu at the a la carte rests, the set menu had a few options on but not many. At the end of our stay,we finally figured out that there was indeed a higher band but we wasn't offered the option to upgrade. Health and safety not the best, there's one pool next to the indoor pool that has tons of people going through it and lots of kids running around, from day one the drain right in the middle must have been broken as there was always a big puddle, this never got fixed in the whole 10 days. To make it worse, I saw life guards mopping the water down the stairs that everyone walks up to get to the pool making them slippery. Read less
