DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island

Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai Beaches and beyond

The hotel

For travellers who aren’t satisfied with a simple ‘one pool, one bar, one restaurant’ kind of holiday, this island escape overflows with choice. Its private white sand beach accompanies seven fabulous swimming pools, including a pirate-themed aqua zone for children to cool off on sun-soaked Marjan Island. It has 12 places to drink and dine, from family-style Italian Vespa to the gastropub food and fun of The Anchor, and the Arabic snacks and shisha of ShoFee Rooftop Bar. And, while the beachfront setting, eforea spa, and contemporary styling of Doubletree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island attract couples and groups of friends, families get the bonus of the kids’ club’s climbing wall, Arcade Zone, and huge playground with its climbing structures, trampolines and shaded toddler area.

Such a great hotel for families and friends. Special thanks to Ram, Peter and the poolside team. Also Vanessa in the restaurants for looking after my family and friends. We booked the ‘be all inclusive’ and it’s great package via Value Added Travel - Andi Can’t wait to come back soon

They talk to you in away that isn't polite. I don't is because of stress or lack of training from the hotel side. - more than ones we have seen personal talk to people (close to the swimming pool) in not adequate way. Read less

Spacious rooms and nice pools which were heated during second half of our stay. We had dine around but found enough variety in the buffet with dishes varying in daily basis. Drinks selection not great for 5 star but you don’t come here to a resort like this for the drinks selection. Evening entertainment basic. Resort very much geared to families with young kids. The crowd, the beach, the pool everything was amazing! Just across the hotel is Al Marjaan Boulevard which is very happening yet not over crowded like Dubai’s beach places! Pool side at the hotel was full of people just chilling and relaxing! Nice ambience and awesome location!! Great option for a staycation!

I read the reviews just before I booked and all seemed ok! I decided to read the latest ones just before we went and was really worried at the negative reviews! To the point I started looking to transfer. However, we decided to stick with it mainly because there was lots to do for my 1 year old! Starting with our arrival (9am ish), after a night flight, we were all extremely tired and hungry, we had no queue at check in (one of the bad things I read a lot) but was told no room for us until after 12.30 and no breakfast available as all inclusive didn’t start until 12.30!! I was fuming. I explained I needed to feed my toddler but they told me to go to the snack bar which we had to pay for. However the lady did do her best to find a room available to us sooner. Regarding breakfast I went to the restaurant and explained my toddler was so hungry having not eaten since dinner the night before and they allowed us to enter thank god! So not a great start!! Moving on to our room (guest rooms), it was away from all the main areas which was perfect for us especially when trying to get a toddler to sleep and it had been to own pool out the front which was hardly ever used. It was very nice and clean and the beds were comfy. Shower was broken and I did report but nothing was done about it. After night 2, we moved rooms to the main hotel block due to smell of gas being really strong in our room and not feeling safe with a toddler sleeping. The duty manager was very good. Said he had been to check the room and agreed of the smell and although was safe he understood why we felt unsafe and got us a room in the main block straight away. The rooms there were the same except much more expensive had we booked that to start with! The entertainment was so loud there and went on until 11, only to be expected I guess, so I would recommend the guest rooms over the main hotel, I cannot comment on bay view rooms or the villas. The food was pretty good. Lots and lots of choice but not entirely our sort of thing, however food is a very personal choice and there was always something we all liked. Lots of Germans there who were so greedy and piled plates high and fill their tables yet waste most of it which was a shame. The staff were amazing with my toddler! Anything she wanted they said she could have on order. So every day she had a bowl of strawberries on order and nothing was too much trouble. Again, staff issues was commented negatively a lot on previous reviews. We both said we could not fault the staff one bit! No one was rude or unhelpful at all. Super friendly and always made a fuss of my daughter. The pool areas were clean and nothing was over crowded due to everything being spread out. We always got sun beds and cabanas with no fight and not the hassle of having to save beds at the crack of dawn! The kids club was amazing. My daughter had endless amounts of fun there, dancing in the evenings, face painting, colouring, made a unicorn and just general playing on the activities in the room. The staff were very good at playing with her and making her feel welcome and included. She would run in to the kids club and never wanted to leave. She was too young to be left but there is the option to sign your children in and leave them while you have time to yourselves. Everything is secure and they are not allowed to leave without you signing them out. I would return again for the fact the it’s perfect for families and children however it wouldn’t be my first choice having always stayed at the Atlantis for my precious 3 trips. Also an hours transfer from the airport :( Read less
